Revelation 13

1 And I saw a beast ascending from the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon its horns were ten diadems, and upon its heads were names of blasphemy.	1 Vidi poi una bestia che saliva dal mare; aveva dieci corna e sette teste; sulle corna v'erano dieci diademi e le teste portavano nomi blasfemi.
2 And the beast that I saw was similar to a leopard, and its feet were like the feet of a bear, and its mouth was like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave his own power and great authority to it.	2 La bestia che vidi somigliava a una pantera, mentre le zampe sembravano di orso e la bocca di leone. Il dragone comunicò ad essa la propria potenza e il suo trono con potestà grande.
3 And I saw that one of its heads seemed to be slain unto death, but his deadly wound was healed. And the entire world was in wonder following the beast.	3 Ora una delle teste appariva come colpita a morte, ma la sua ferita mortale fu guarita. Per questo tutta la terra fu presa d'ammirazione per la bestia
4 And they worshiped the dragon, who gave authority to the beast. And they worshiped the beast, saying: “Who is like the beast? And who would be able to fight with it?”	4 e si mise ad adorare il dragone, che aveva dato un tale potere alla bestia; e adorarono la bestia dicendo: "Chi è simile alla bestia? E chi può combattere con essa?".
5 And there was given to it a mouth, speaking great things and blasphemies. And authority was given to him to act for forty-two months.	5 Alla bestia fu data una bocca che proferiva parole orgogliose e blasfeme e le fu concesso di operare per lo spazio di quarantadue mesi.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme his name and his tabernacle and those who dwell in heaven.	6 Così aprì la sua bocca blasfema contro Dio, lanciando bestemmie contro il nome e la dimora di lui, contro tutti gli abitanti del cielo.
7 And it was given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given to him over every tribe and people and language and nation.	7 Le fu dato potere di far guerra ai santi e vincerli; e le fu data potestà su ogni tribù, popolo, lingua e nazione.
8 And all who inhabit the earth worshiped the beast, those whose names have not been written, from the origin of the world, in the Book of Life of the Lamb who was slain.	8 L'adoreranno tutti gli abitanti della terra, il cui nome non sta scritto nel libro della vita dell'Agnello che è immolato fin dalla creazione del mondo.
9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear.	9 Chi ha orecchi, ascolti!
10 Whoever will be led into captivity, into captivity he goes. Whoever will kill with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the patient endurance and faith of the Saints.	10 Se uno è destinato alla prigione, vada in prigione. Se uno con la spada uccide, con la spada dev'essere ucciso. In ciò sta la pazienza e la fede dei santi.
11 And I saw another beast ascending from the land. And she had two horns like the Lamb, but she was speaking like the dragon.	11 Poi vidi un'altra bestia salire dalla terra; aveva due corna come un agnello, ma parlava come un dragone.
12 And she acted with all the authority of the first beast in his sight. And she caused the earth, and those dwelling in it, to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.	12 Esercitava tutta l'autorità della prima bestia per conto di essa; si adoperava, infatti, che la terra e tutti i suoi abitanti si prostrassero davanti alla prima bestia, la cui ferita mortale era stata guarita.
13 And she accomplished great signs, even so that she would cause fire to descend from the sky to the earth in the sight of men.	13 Faceva prodigi strabilianti, al punto da far discendere dal cielo sulla terra il fuoco, e ciò sotto gli occhi degli uomini.
14 And she seduced those living on the earth, by means of the signs that were given to her to perform in the sight of the beast, saying to those dwelling on the earth that they should make an image of the beast who had a wound of the sword and yet lived.	14 Così traeva in inganno gli abitanti della terra con i portenti che aveva il potere di fare a servizio della bestia; spingeva infatti gli abitanti della terra a erigere un'immagine alla bestia che aveva ricevuto la ferita della spada e poi aveva ripreso vita.
15 And it was given to her to give a spirit to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would speak. And she acted so that whoever would not worship the image of the beast would be slain.	15 Quindi fu dato ad essa di infondere lo spirito al simulacro della bestia in modo che questa potesse parlare. Quanti non avessero voluto adorare l'immagine della bestia ordinava che fossero uccisi.
16 And she will cause everyone, small and great, wealthy and poor, free and servant, to have a character on their right hand or on their foreheads,	16 Si adoperava, inoltre, che a tutti, piccoli e grandi, ricchi e poveri, liberi e schiavi, fosse impresso sulla loro mano destra o sulla fronte un marchio,
17 so that no one may buy or sell, unless he has the character, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.	17 in modo che nessuno potesse comprare o vendere all'infuori di coloro che portavano il marchio, cioè il nome della bestia o il numero del suo nome.
18 Here is wisdom. Whoever has intelligence, let him determine the number of the beast. For it is the number of a man, and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.	18 Qui sta la sapienza. Chi ha mente computi il numero della bestia; è un numero d'uomo. Il suo numero è seicentosessantasei.
