Deuteronomy 12

1 “These are the precepts and judgments which you must do in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, will give to you, so that you may possess it during all the days that you shall walk upon the soil.	1 Estos son los preceptos y normas que cuidaréis de poner en práctica en la tierra que Yahveh el Dios de tus padres te ha dado en posesión, todos los días que viváis en su suelo.
2 Overturn all the places where the nations, which you will possess, worshipped their gods on lofty mountains, and on hills, and under every leafy tree.	2 Suprimiréis todos los lugares donde los pueblos que vais a desalojar han dado culto a sus dioses, en lo alto de los montes, en las colinas, y bajo todo árbol frondoso;
3 Scatter their altars and break their statues. Burn their sacred groves with fire and crush their idols. Abolish their names from those places.	3 demoleréis su altares, romperéis sus estelas, quemaréis sus cipos, derribaréis las esculturas de sus dioses y suprimiréis su nombre de este lugar.
4 But you shall not do the same to the Lord your God.	4 No procederéis así respecto de Yahveh vuestro Dios,
5 Instead, you shall approach the place which the Lord your God will choose among all your tribes, so that he may set his name there, and may dwell in that place.	5 sino que sólo vendréis a buscarle al lugar elegido por Yahveh vuestro Dios, de entre todas las tribus, para poner en él la morada de su nombre.
6 And you shall offer, in that place, your holocausts and victims, the tithes and first-fruits of your hands, and your vows and gifts, the firstborn of the cattle and of the sheep.	6 Allí llevaréis vuestros holocaustos y vuestros sacrificios, vuestros diezmos y las ofrendas reservadas de vuestras manos, vuestras ofrendas votivas y vuestras ofrendas voluntarias, los primogénitos de vuestro ganado mayor y menor,
7 And you shall eat it there, in the sight of the Lord your God. And you shall rejoice in all the things to which you shall set your hand: you and your household, which the Lord your God has blessed for you.	7 allí comeréis en presencia de Yahveh vuestro Dios y os regocijaréis, vosotros y vuestras casas, de todas las empresas en que Yahveh tu Dios te haya bendecido.
8 You shall not do there the things that we are doing here today: each one doing what seems good to himself.	8 No haréis lo que nosotros hacemos aquí hoy, cada cual lo que le parece bien,
9 For even until the present time, you did not arrive at the rest and the possession, which the Lord your God will give to you.	9 porque todavía no habéis llegado al lugar de descanso y a la heredad que Yahveh tu Dios te da.
10 You shall cross over the Jordan, and you shall live in the land which the Lord your God will give to you, so that you may have rest from all the surrounding enemies, and so that you may live without any fear,	10 Pero cuando paséis el Jordán y habitéis en la tierra que Yahveh vuestro Dios os da en herencia, cuando él os haya puesto al abrijgo de todos vuestros enemigos de alrededor, y viváis con tranquilidad,
11 in the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be in it. To that place, you shall bring all the things that I instruct you: holocausts, and victims, and tithes, and the first-fruits of your hands, and whatever is best among the gifts that you shall vow to the Lord.	11 llevaréis al lugar elegido por Yahveh vuestro Dios para morada de su nombre todo lo que yo os prescribo: vuestros holocaustos y vuestros sacrificios, vuestros diezmos y las ofrendas reservadas de vuestras manos, lo más selecto de vuestras ofrendas que hayáis prometido con voto a Yahveh;
12 In that place, you shall feast before the Lord your God: you, and your sons and daughters, your men and women servants, as well as the Levite who dwells in your cities. For he has no other portion or possession among you.	12 y os rogocijaréis en presencia de Yahveh, vosotros, vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas, vuestros siervos y vuestras siervas, así como el levita que vive en vuestras ciudades, ya que no tiene parte ni heredad con vosotros.
13 Take care that you do not offer your holocausts in any place that you see.	13 Guárdate de ofrecer tus holocaustos en cualquier lugar sagrado que veas;
14 Instead, you shall offer sacrifices in the place which the Lord will choose within one of your tribes, and you shall do whatsoever I instruct you.	14 sólo en el lugar elegido por Yahveh en una de tus tribus podrás ofrecer tus holocaustos y sólo allí pondrás en práctica todo lo que yo te mando.
15 So, if you wish to eat, and if the eating of flesh pleases you, then kill and eat according to the blessing of the Lord your God, which he has given to you, in your cities: you may eat it whether it is unclean, that is, having blemish or defect, or whether it is clean, that is, whole and without blemish, of the kind which is permitted to be offered, such as the roe deer and the stag.	15 Podrás, sin embargo, siempre que lo desees, sacrificar y comer la carne, como bendición que te ha dado Yahveh tu Dios, en todas tus ciudades. Tanto el puro como el impuro podrán comerla, como si fuese gacela o ciervo.
16 Only the blood you shall not eat. Instead, you shall pour it upon the ground like water.	16 Sólo la sangre no la comeréis; la derramarás en tierra como agua.
17 You may not eat in your towns the tithes of your crops, and your wine and oil, the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, nor anything which you will vow, or which you will offer spontaneously, nor the first-fruits of your hands.	17 No podrás comer en tus ciudades el diezmo de tu trigo, de tu mosto o de tu aceite, ni los primogénitos de tu ganado mayor o menor, ninguna de tus ofrendas votivas o de tus ofrendas voluntarias, ni las ofrendas reservadas de tus manos.
18 But you shall eat these before the Lord your God, in the place which the Lord your God will choose: you, and your son, and your daughter, and your man servant and woman servant, and the Levite who dwells in your cities. And you shall rejoice and be refreshed in the sight of the Lord your God by all the things to which you will extend your hand.	18 Sino que lo comerás en presencia de Yahveh tu Dios, en el lugar elegido por Yahveh tu Dios y solamente allí, tú, tu hijo y tu hija, tu siervo y tu sierva, y el levita que vive en tus ciudades. Y te regocijarás en presencia de Yahveh tu Dios por todas tus empresas.
19 Be careful, lest you abandon the Levite, at anytime while you are living in the land.	19 Guárdate de dejar abandonado al levita mientras vivas en tu suelo.
20 When the Lord your God will have enlarged your borders, just as he has spoken to you, and when you would eat the flesh that your soul desires,	20 Cuando Yahveh tu Dios haya ensanchado tu territorio, como te ha prometido, y digas: «Querría comer carne», si deseas comer carne, podrás hacerlo siempre que quieras.
21 but if the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be there, is far away, you may kill, from your herds and your flocks which you will have, in the manner I have instructed to you, and you may eat in your towns, as it pleases you.	21 Si el lugar elegido por Yahveh tu Dios para morada de su nombre está demasiado lejos de ti, podrás sacrificar del ganado mayor y menor que Yahveh te haya concedido, del modo que yo te he prescrito; lo podrás comer en tus ciudades a la medida de tus deseos;
22 Just as the roe deer and the stag may be eaten, so also may you eat these: you may eat both the clean and the unclean alike.	22 y lo coméras como se come la gacela o el ciervo; podrán comerlo tanto el puro como el impuro.
23 Only beware of this: you may not eat the blood. For their blood is for the soul. And because of this, you must not eat the soul with the flesh.	23 Guárdate sólo de comer la sangre, porque la sangre es la vida, y no debes comer la vida con la carne.
24 Instead, you shall pour it upon the ground like water,	24 No la comerás, la derramarás en tierra como agua.
25 so that it may be well with you, and with your sons after you, when you will do what is pleasing in the sight of the Lord.	25 No la comerás, para que seas feliz, tú y tu hijo después de ti, por haber hecho lo que es justo a los ojos de Yahveh.
26 But the things that you have sanctified and vowed to the Lord, you shall take up and bring to the place which the Lord will choose.	26 Pero las cosas sagradas que te correspondan y las que hayas prometido con voto, irás a llevarlas a aquel lugar elegido por Yahveh.
27 And you shall offer your oblations of flesh and of blood upon the altar of the Lord your God. You shall poor out the blood of your victims upon the altar. And you yourself shall eat the flesh.	27 Harás el holocausto de la carne y de la sangre sobre el altar de Yahveh tu Dios; la sangre de tus sacrificios será derramada sobre el altar de Yahveh tu Dios, y tu podrás comer la carne.
28 Observe and heed all the things that I instruct to you, so that it may be well with you, and with your sons after you, continually, when you will do what is good and pleasing in the sight of the Lord your God.	28 Observa y escucha todas estas cosas que yo te mando, para que seas feliz siempre, tú y tu hijo después de ti, por haber hecho lo que es bueno y justo a los ojos de Yahveh tu Dios.
29 When the Lord your God will have abolished before your face the nations, which you shall enter so as to possess them, and when you will possess them and live in their land,	29 Cuando Yahveh tu Dios haya exterminado las naciones que tú vas a desalojar ante ti, cuando las hayas desalojado y habites en su tierra,
30 be careful that you do not imitate them, after they have been overturned at your arrival, and that you do not seek their ceremonies, saying: ‘Just as these nations have worshipped their gods, so also will I worship.’	30 guárdate de dejarte prender en el lazo siguiendo su ejemplo después de haber sido ellos exterminados ante ti, y de buscar sus dioses, diciendo; «¿Cómo servían estas naciones a sus dioses? Así haré yo también,»
31 You shall not act in like manner toward the Lord your God. For they have done to their gods all the abominations that the Lord spurns, offering their sons and daughters, and burning them with fire.	31 No procederás así con Yahveh tu Dios. Porque todo lo que es una abominación para Yahveh, lo que detesta, lo hacen ellos en honor de sus dioses: llegan incluso a quemar al fuego a sus hijos e hijas en honor de sus dioses.
32 What I command to you, this only shall you do, for the Lord. You may neither add nor subtract anything.”
