Jeremiah 35

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying:	1 Voici une parole de Yahvé qui fut adressée à Jérémie du temps de Joïaqim fils de Josias, roi de Juda:
2 “Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak to them, and lead them into the house of the Lord, into one of the halls of the treasuries. And you shall give them wine to drink.”	2 “Va trouver le groupe des Rékabites, parle avec eux et fais-les venir dans l’une des salles de la Maison de Yahvé. Là tu leur offriras du vin à boire.”
3 And so I took Jaazaniah, the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers, and all his sons, and the entire house of the Rechabites,	3 J’allai donc chercher Yaazanya, fils de Yirméya, fils de Habassinya, ses frères et tous ses fils; en un mot, tout le groupe des Rékabites,
4 and I led them into the house of the Lord, to the treasury of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was near the treasury of the princes, above the storehouse of Maaseiah, the son of Shallum, who was the guardian of the entrance.	4 et je les amenai à la Maison de Yahvé, dans la salle de Ben-Yohanan, fils de Yigdalyas, l’homme de Dieu. Cette salle est à côté de la salle des chefs, au-dessus de la pièce de Maaséyas, fils de Challoum, gardien de la porte.
5 And I placed before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls filled with wine, and chalices. And I said to them, “Drink wine.”	5 Je fis amener pour les membres du groupe rékabite des jarres pleines de vin et des coupes, et je leur dis: “Buvez du vin.”
6 And they responded: “We will not drink wine. For Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, instructed us, saying: ‘You shall not drink wine, you and your sons, in perpetuity.	6 Mais ils me répondirent: “Nous ne buvons jamais de vin, car notre ancêtre Yonadab fils de Rékab nous a donné ce commandement: vous ne boirez pas de vin, ni vous, ni vos fils.
7 And you shall not build houses, and you shall not sow any seeds, and you shall not plant or have vineyards. Instead, you shall live in tents all your days, so that you may live many days upon the face of the earth, in which you are sojourners.’	7 De même, vous ne construirez pas de maisons, vous ne ferez pas de semailles, vous ne planterez pas de vignes, vous ne posséderez rien de tout cela. Toute votre vie vous vivrez sous la tente, et si vous le faites, vous vivrez de longs jours sur la terre où vous camperez.
8 Therefore, we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he has commanded us, so that we do not drink wine all our days, we and our wives, our sons and daughters.	8 “Nous avons obéi à toutes les consignes de notre ancêtre Yonadab fils de Rékab; nous ne buvons jamais de vin, ni nous, ni nos femmes, ni nos fils, ni nos filles.
9 And we do not build houses in which to live. And we do not have vineyard, or field, or seed to sow.	9 Nous ne bâtissons pas de maisons pour y habiter, nous ne possédons ni vignes, ni champs, ni semailles;
10 Instead, we live in tents, and we have been obedient in accord with all that Jonadab, our father, has instructed us.	10 mais nous habitons sous la tente. Nous obéissons et nous faisons comme notre ancêtre Yonadab nous a dit de le faire.
11 But when Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had ascended to our land, we said: ‘Come and let us enter into Jerusalem, before the face of the army of the Chaldeans, and before the face of the army of Syria.’ And we have remained in Jerusalem.”	11 Mais lorsque Nabukodonozor roi de Babylone est venu faire la guerre à ce pays, nous nous sommes dit: Réfugions-nous à Jérusalem pour échapper à l’armée des Kaldéens et à celle d’Aram. Et c’est ainsi que nous sommes à Jérusalem.”
12 And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:	12 Alors Jérémie reçut une parole:
13 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Go, and say to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Will you not accept discipline, so that you obey my words, says the Lord?	13 “Voici ce que dit Yahvé, le Dieu d’Israël: Va dire aux hommes de Juda et aux habitants de Jérusalem: Quand donc comprendrez-vous que vous devez obéir à mes ordres - parole de Yahvé.
14 The words of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, in which he instructed his sons, so that they would not drink wine, have prevailed. And they have not drunk wine, even to this day. For they have obeyed the instruction of their father. But I have spoken to you, rising and speaking from early morning, and you did not obey me.	14 On a obéi aux ordres de Yonadab fils de Rékab, qui interdisait à ses fils de boire du vin, et jusqu’à ce jour ils n’en ont pas bu par obéissance à leur ancêtre. Mais moi je vous ai parlé et je continue de vous parler, et vous ne m’écoutez pas.
15 And I have sent to you all my servants, the prophets, rising at first light, and sending, and saying: ‘Convert, each one from his wicked way, and make your intentions good. And do not choose to follow strange gods, nor shall you worship them. And then you shall live in the land which I gave to you and to your fathers.’ And yet you have not inclined your ear, and you have not heeded me.	15 Je vous ai envoyé mes serviteurs les prophètes pour vous dire: Que chacun renonce à sa mauvaise conduite; changez vos façons de faire, ne vous mettez pas à la traîne d’autres dieux et ne les servez pas, si vous voulez rester dans le pays que j’ai donné à vos pères et à vous. Mais vous n’avez pas voulu entendre, vous ne m’avez pas écouté.
16 So the sons of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, have remained firm in the commandment of their father, which he instructed to them, while this people has not been obedient to me.	16 Les descendants de Yonadab fils de Rékab observent les ordres de leur ancêtre, mais ce peuple ne veut pas m’écouter!
17 For this reason, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead over Judah and over all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every evil that I have declared against them. For I have spoken to them, and they have not listened. I have called to them, and they have not responded to me.”	17 “C’est pourquoi, voici ce que dit Yahvé, le Dieu Sabaot, le Dieu d’Israël: Je vais amener sur Juda et sur tous les habitants de Jérusalem le malheur dont je les ai menacés, car je leur ai parlé et ils n’ont pas écouté, je les ai appelés et ils n’ont pas répondu.”
18 Then Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites: “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab, your father, and have kept all his precepts, and have done all that he has instructed you,	18 Ensuite Jérémie dit au groupe des Rékabites: “Voici ce que dit Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d’Israël: Vous avez gardé les commandements de votre ancêtre Yonadab, vous avez observé tous ses ordres et pratiqué tout ce qu’il vous a demandé;
19 because of this, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: There will not be a man lacking from the stock of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, standing in my sight, for all days.”	19 à cause de cela - c’est Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d’Israël, qui le dit: Yonadab fils de Rékab aura toujours des descendants pour me servir.”
