Isaiah 55

1 All you who thirst, come to the waters. And you who have no money: hurry, buy and eat. Approach, buy wine and milk, without money and without barter.	1 Ah! vous tous qui avez soif, venez vers l'eau, même si vous n'avez pas d'argent, venez, achetez etmangez; venez, achetez sans argent, sans payer, du vin et du lait.
2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and expend your labor for what does not satisfy? Listen very closely to me, and eat what is good, and then your soul will be delighted by a full measure.	2 Pourquoi dépenser de l'argent pour autre chose que du pain, et ce que vous avez gagné, pour ce qui nerassasie pas? Ecoutez, écoutez-moi et mangez ce qui est bon; vous vous délecterez de mets succulents.
3 Incline your ear and draw near to me. Listen, and your soul will live. And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, by the faithful mercies of David.	3 Prêtez l'oreille et venez vers moi, écoutez et vous vivrez. Je conclurai avec vous une allianceéternelle, réalisant les faveurs promises à David.
4 Behold, I have presented him as a witness to the people, as a commander and instructor to the nations.	4 Voici que j'ai fait de lui un témoin pour des peuples, un chef et un législateur de peuples.
5 Behold, you will call to a nation that you did not know. And nations that did not know you will rush to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel. For he has glorified you.	5 Voici que tu appelleras une nation que tu ne connais pas, une nation qui ne te connaît pas viendra verstoi, à cause de Yahvé, ton Dieu, et pour le Saint d'Israël, car il t'a glorifié.
6 Seek the Lord, while he is able to be found. Call upon him, while he is near.	6 Cherchez Yahvé pendant qu'il se laisse trouver, invoquez-le pendant qu'il est proche.
7 Let the impious one abandon his way, and the iniquitous man his thoughts, and let him return to the Lord, and he will take pity on him, and to our God, for he is great in forgiveness.	7 Que le méchant abandonne sa voie et l'homme criminel ses pensées, qu'il revienne à Yahvé qui aurapitié de lui, à notre Dieu car il est riche en pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways, says the Lord.	8 Car vos pensées ne sont pas mes pensées, et mes voies ne sont pas vos voies, oracle de Yahvé.
9 For just as the heavens are exalted above the earth, so also are my ways exalted above your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts.	9 Autant les cieux sont élevés au-dessus de la terre, autant sont élevées mes voies au-dessus de vosvoies, et mes pensées au-dessus de vos pensées.
10 And in the same manner as rain and snow descend from heaven, and no longer return there, but soak the earth, and water it, and cause it to bloom and to provide seed to the sower and bread to the hungry,	10 De même que la pluie et la neige descendent des cieux et n'y retournent pas sans avoir arrosé laterre, sans l'avoir fécondée et l'avoir fait germer pour fournir la semence au semeur et le pain à manger,
11 so also will my word be, which will go forth from my mouth. It will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish whatever I will, and it will prosper in the tasks for which I sent it.	11 ainsi en est-il de la parole qui sort de ma bouche, elle ne revient pas vers moi sans effet, sans avoiraccompli ce que j'ai voulu et réalisé l'objet de sa mission.
12 For you will go forth rejoicing, and you will be led forward in peace. The mountains and the hills will sing praise before you, and all the trees of the countryside will clap their hands.	12 Oui, vous partirez dans la joie et vous serez ramenés dans la paix. Les montagnes et les collinespousseront devant vous des cris de joie, et tous les arbres de la campagne battront des mains.
13 In place of the shrub, the pine tree will arise, and in place of the nettle, the myrtle tree will grow. And the Lord will be named with an eternal sign, which will not be taken away.	13 Au lieu de l'épine croîtra le cyprès, au lieu de l'ortie croîtra le myrte, ce sera pour Yahvé un renom,un signe éternel qui ne périra pas.
