Psalms 122

1 A Canticle in steps. I have lifted up my eyes to you, who dwells in the heavens.	1 (Salmo graduale). Io alzo gli occhi miei a te, che stai nei cieli.
2 Behold, as the eyes of the servants are on the hands of their masters, as the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress, so our eyes are upon the Lord our God, until he may be merciful to us.	2 Ecco, come gli occhi dei servi son volti alla mano dei loro padroni, come gli occhi dell'ancella son volti alla mano della sua padrona, così gli occhi nostri stan volti al Signore Dio nostro, finché non si muova a pietà di noi.
3 Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us. For we have been filled with utter disdain.	3 Abbi pietà di noi, o Signore, abbi pietà di noi, perchè siamo troppo sazi di vituperi,
4 For our soul has been greatly filled. We are the disgrace of those who have abundance and the disdain of the arrogant.	4 Perché l'anima nostra è troppo sazia dello scherno dei ricchi e del disprezzo dei superbi.
