Psalms 106

1 Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy is with every generation.	1 - Alleluia! Celebrate il Signore, perch'egli è buono, perchè in eterno sta la sua grazia!
2 Let those who have been redeemed by the Lord say so: those whom he redeemed from the hand of the enemy and gathered from the regions,	2 Dican [così] i redenti dal Signore, ch'egli ha redento dalla mano del nemico, e da [tutte] le regioni gli ha raccolti,
3 from the rising of the sun and its setting, from the north and from the sea.	3 dall'oriente e dall'occidente, dal settentrione e dal mare.
4 They wandered into solitude in a waterless place. They did not find the way of the city to be their dwelling place.	4 Erravan nella solitudine, nel deserto, la via d'una città dove abitare non trovavano.
5 They were hungry, and they were thirsty. Their soul fainted within them.	5 Affamati e assetati, l'anima loro veniva meno in essi.
6 And they cried out to the Lord in tribulation, and he rescued them in their necessity.	6 E gridarono al Signore nella loro tribolazione, e dalle angustie loro gli strappò.
7 And he led them in the right way, so that they might go forth to a city of habitation.	7 E li menò per la retta via, perchè giungessero a una città dove abitare.
8 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men.	8 Celebrino il Signore [per] le sue misericordie e [per] i suoi portenti a pro dei figliuoli degli uomini!
9 For he has satisfied the empty soul, and he has satisfied the hungry soul with good things:	9 Perchè egli ha saziato l'anima assetata, e l'anima affamata ha ricolma di beni.
10 those sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death, shackled by extreme poverty and by iron.	10 Sedevan nelle tenebre e all'ombra della morte, prigionieri nella miseria e ne' ferri;
11 For they exasperated the eloquence of God, and they irritated the deliberation of the Most High.	11 perchè s'eran ribellati agli ordini di Dioe il disegno dell'Altissimo avevan sdegnato.
12 And their heart was brought low with hardships. They were weakened, and there was no one to help them.	12 E fu umiliato ne' travagli il cuor loro, furono affranti, nè ci fu chi li soccorresse.
13 And they cried out to the Lord in their tribulation, and he freed them from their distress.	13 E gridarono al Signore nella loro tribolazione, e dalle angustie loro li liberò.
14 And he led them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and he broke apart their chains.	14 E li trasse fuori dalle tenebre e dall'ombra della morte e spezzò le loro catene.
15 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men.	15 Celebrino il Signore [per] le sue misericordie e [per] i suoi portenti a pro dei figliuoli degli uomini!
16 For he has crushed the gates of brass and broken the iron bars.	16 Perchè egli ha infrante le porte di bronzo, e i chiavistelli di ferro ha spezzato.
17 He has taken them up, from the way of their iniquity. For they were brought low, because of their injustices.	17 Stolti, che a seconda della loro via iniquae delle loro ingiustizie eran straziati.
18 Their soul abhorred all food, and they drew near even to the gates of death.	18 Ogni cibo aveva a nausea l'anima loroed eran vicini già alle porte della morte.
19 And they cried out to the Lord in their tribulation, and he delivered them in their necessity.	19 E gridarono al Signore nella loro tribolazione, e dalle angustie loro li liberò.
20 He sent his word, and he healed them, and he rescued them from their utter destruction.	20 Mandò la sua parola e li guarì, e gli strappò dalle consunzioni loro.
21 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men.	21 Celebrino il Signore [per] le sue misericordie e [per] i suoi portenti a pro dei figliuoli degli uomini!
22 And let them offer sacrifice with the sacrifice of praise, and let them announce his works in exultation.	22 E offrano un sacrifizio di lode e raccontino le sue opere con giubilo.
23 Those who descend to the sea in ships, making their livelihood in the great waters:	23 Solcando il mare sulle navi, facendo traffico sulle molte acque,
24 these have seen the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep.	24 essi videro le opere del Signore e i suoi portenti nell'[abisso] profondo!
25 He spoke: and a windstorm stood up, and its waves were exalted.	25 E' parlò, e infuriò un vento turbinoso, e si sollevarono i flutti del mare.
26 They ascend even to the heavens, and they descend even to the abyss. Their soul will waste away in distress.	26 Salivano sino al cielo e si sprofondavan giù nell'abisso, e l'anima loro nell'affanno si struggeva.
27 They were troubled, and they moved like a drunkard, and all their wisdom was consumed.	27 Vacillavano e barcollavano come un ubriaco, e tutta la perizia loro era sfumata.
28 And they cried out to the Lord in their tribulation, and he led them out of their distress.	28 E gridarono al Signore nella loro tribolazione, e dalle angustie loro li trasse fuori.
29 And he replaced the storm with a breeze, and its waves were stilled.	29 E ridusse il turbine a un lieve venticello, e si chetarono i flutti del mare.
30 And they were joyful that it was stilled, and he led them into the haven that they desired.	30 E si rallegraron quelli che si fosser chetati, ed e' li condusse al porto del loro desiderio.
31 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men.	31 Celebrino il Signore [per] le sue misericordie e [per] i suoi portenti a pro dei figliuoli degli uomini!
32 And let them exalt him in the Church of the people, and praise him in the chair of the elders.	32 E l'esaltino nell'adunanza del popoloe nel consesso degli anziani lo lodino.
33 He has placed rivers in the desert and sources of water in dry places,	33 Egli mutò i fiumi in desertoe le fonti d'acque in assetata steppa,
34 a fruit-bearing land in the midst of brine, before the malice of those who dwell in it.	34 [e] la terra fruttifera in una salina, per la malvagità de' suoi abitanti.
35 He has placed a desert in the midst of pools of waters, and a land without water in the midst of sources of water.	35 Mutò il deserto in uno stagno d'acque, e la terra arida in fonti d'acque.
36 And he has gathered the hungry together there, and they constructed a city of habitation.	36 E stabilì colà gli affamati, e vi fondarono una città da abitare.
37 And they sowed fields and planted vineyards, and they produced the fruit of nativity.	37 E seminarono campi e piantaron vigne, e n'ebber frutto di raccolta.
38 And he blessed them, and they were multiplied exceedingly. And he did not diminish their beasts of burden.	38 E li benedisse e si moltiplicarono oltremodo, e i loro bestiami non scemò.
39 And they became few, and they were afflicted by the tribulation of evils and of sorrow.	39 [Quando poi] si ridussero a pochi e furon tormentatida tribolazione di mali e dal dolore,
40 Contempt was poured over their leaders, and he caused them to wander in an impassable place, and not on the way.	40 e' riversò il dispregio sui grandi [che gli opprimevano] e li fece errare per la solitudine, là dove non c'è strada,
41 And he helped the poor out of destitution, and he stationed families like sheep.	41 e aiutò il povero [a risollevarsi] dalla miseriae fece [numerose] come greggi le famiglie.
42 The upright will see, and they will rejoice. And every iniquity will block its mouth.	42 Vedranno [ciò] i retti e si rallegrerannoe ogni iniquità si tapperà la bocca.
43 Who is wise and will keep these things? And who will understand the mercies of the Lord?	43 Chi è savio? ch'e' badi a queste cose, e intenda le misericordie del Signore!
