1 Corinthians 11

1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.	1 Siate miei imitatori, secondo ch' io sèguito Cristo.
2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.	2 Fratelli, io sì ve lo dico, che per tutte le cose voi si vi ricordiate di me, tenendo li comandamenti che diedi a voi.
3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.	3 Ma voglio che sappiate che Cristo é capo d'ogni uomo; e l'uomo è capo della femina; e Dio è capo di Cristo.
4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.	4 Ogni uomo che ôra, ovver che profeta col capo velato, sì deturpa il suo capo.
5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.	5 E ogni femina che ôra, ovver profeta col capo non velato, si deturpa il suo capo, sì come ella si tosolasse.
6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.	6 E se la femina non si copre il capo con velo, sì si tonda; e se pare male ch' ella si tonda, si veli il suo capo.
7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.	7 Ma l'uomo non dee velare il suo capo; imperò ch' egli è imagine di Dio e gloria; e la femina si è gloria dell' uomo.
8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;	8 Chè l' uomo non fu fatto della femina, ma la femina dell' uomo.
9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:	9 E certo l' uomo non fu creato per la femina, ma la femina fu creata per cagione dell' uomo.
10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.	10 Imperò dee avere copertura sopra il suo capo la femina per li angioli.
11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;	11 Ma per tutto questo nè l'uomo senza la femina, nè la femina senza l' uomo, è nel Signore.
12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.	12 Perciò si come la femina è dell' uomo, così ogni uomo per la femina; ma tutte le cose son fatte da Dio.
13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?	13 Voi medesimi giudicate: questo è egli convenevole, che la femina debba orare col capo scoperto?
14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,	14 Solamente la natura v' ammaestra che (non) è convenevole, e) all' uomo è vergogna s' egli mantiene li capelli lunghi come treccie.
15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.	15 Ma alla femina sì è onore, s' ella ha li capelli lunghi; che i capelli son dati a lei per copertura.
16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.	16 Se alcuno ha veduto tenzonatore intra voi, per questo ( ch' è detto e) dicovi che noi non avemo tale usanza, nè la Chiesa di Dio.
17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.	17 E questo comando, non lodando che voi non vi adunate insieme al meglio, anzi al peggio.
18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.	18 E abbo inteso, che quando che voi v' adunate insieme nella Chiesa di Dio, in prima son divisioni intra voi; e credo in parte.
19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.	19 Chè bisogno è che sieno eresie, perchè si conoscano quelli che son (fermi e) provati.
20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;	20 Adunque adunatevi insieme; questo non è a manducare la cena del Signore.
21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.	21 Chè ciascuno s'apparecchia a manducare la cena sua; e certo uno ha fame, e l' altro è ebrio.
22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.	22 Or non avete voi case, nelle quali voi manduchiate e beviate? se non che avete la Chiesa di Dio in dispetto, e fate vergogna a coloro che non ne possono avere? Adunque che dirò io a voi? Lodovi? ma in questo non vi lodo.
23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,	23 Chè io ricevetti dal Signore quello che io diedi a voi; imperò che il nostro Signore Iesù Cristo, in quella notte che fu tradito, sì pigliò il pane.
24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'	24 E fece grazie a Dio, e ruppelo, e disse: ricevete e manducate, chè questo è il mio corpo che per voi sarà tradito; e questo fate in mia ricordanza.
25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'	25 Simigliantemente, poi ch' egli ebbe cenato, prese il calice, e disse: questo è il calice del nuovo testamento nel mio sangue; e questo fate, quante volte voi berete, in mia commemorazione.
26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.	26 E quante volte voi mangerete di questo pane, e berete il calice, la morte del Signore avrete annunziare insino ch' egli venga.
27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.	27 Adunque qualunque mangerà il pane e berà il calice del Signore indegnamente, colpevole sarà del corpo e del sangue del Signore.
28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;	28 Ma ciascuno si provi (e purifichi); e così mangi di quel pane, e beva di quel calice.
29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.	29 E quelli che mangiano e bevono indegnamente, mangiano a sè il giudicio e bevono, senza detrimento del corpo del Signore.
30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.	30 Imperò intra voi ne sono molti infermi e deboli; e molti ne dormono.
31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,	31 Che se noi medesimi ci giudicassimo, certo non saremmo giudicati.
32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.	32 E mentre che noi ci giudichiamo, dal Signore siamo giudicati, perchè [non] siamo dannati con questo mondo.
33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;	33 Adunque, fratelli miei, quando voi [siete] radunati a mangiare, aspetti l'uno l'altro.
34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.	34 E qualunque ha fame, manduchi a casa; chè voi non vi raguniate in giudicio. L'altre cose disponerò, quando verrò.
