Zechariah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 In the second year of Darius, in the eighth month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to the prophetZechariah (son of Berechiah), son of Iddo, as fol ows,	1 Nell'ottavo mese del secondo anno di Dario la parola del Signore fu rivolta al profeta Zaccaria, figlio di Iddò:
2 'Yahweh was deeply angry with your ancestors.	2 Il Signore si sdegnò grandemente contro i vostri padri!
3 So say this to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Return to me -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- and I willreturn to you, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	3 "Grida al resto di questo popolo e di' loro: Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Tornate a me e tornerò a voi, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
4 Do not be like your ancestors when the prophets in the past cried to them: Yahweh Sabaoth says this:Turn back from your evil ways and evil deeds -- they would not listen or pay attention to me -- Yahweh declares.	4 Non siate come i vostri padri, ai quali i profeti del passato gridavano: "Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Su via, convertitevi dai vostri pessimi costumi e dalle vostre azioni malvagie!". Ma essi non ascoltavano e non mi davano retta. Oracolo del Signore.
5 Where are your ancestors now? And the prophets, do they live for ever?	5 I vostri padri, dove sono? E i profeti, vivono ancora?
6 But did not my words and statutes, with which I had charged my servants the prophets, overtake yourancestors just the same?" ' So they repented and said, 'Yahweh Sabaoth has treated us as he resolved to do,and as our ways and deeds deserved.'	6 bAllora essi tornarono in sé ed esclamarono: come il Signore degli eserciti aveva minacciato di trattarci a motivo dei nostri costumi e delle nostre azioni, così ci ha fatto!".
7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month (the month of Shebat), in the second year of Darius, theword of Yahweh was addressed to the prophet Zechariah (son of Berechiah), son of Iddo, as fol ows,	7 Il giorno ventiquattro dell'undecimo mese, cioè del mese di Sebàt, l'anno secondo di Dario, la parola del Signore fu rivolta al profeta Zaccaria, figlio di Iddò.
8 'I had a vision during the night. There was a man riding a red horse standing among the deep-rootedmyrtles; behind him were other horses-red, chestnut and white.	8 Io ebbi una visione notturna. Ecco un uomo in groppa a un cavallo baio stava in mezzo ai mirti in una valle profonda; e dietro a lui c'erano cavalli bai, sauri, neri e bianchi.
9 I said, "What are these, my lord?" And the angel who was talking to me said, "I will show you what they are."	9 Io domandai: "Chi sono questi, signore?".
10 The man standing among the myrtles then replied, "Those are they whom Yahweh has sent to patrolthe world."	10 L'uomo che stava ritto in mezzo ai mirti rispose e disse: "Questi sono coloro che il Signore ha mandato a percorrere la terra!".
11 They reported to the angel of Yahweh as he stood among the myrtles, "We have been patrol ing theworld, and indeed the whole world is stil and at peace."	11 Costoro dissero all'angelo del Signore che stava ritto in mezzo ai mirti: "Abbiamo percorso la terra; ecco: tutta la terra riposa e sta quieta!".
12 The angel of Yahweh then spoke and said, "Yahweh Sabaoth, how long wil you wait before taking pityon Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, on which you have inflicted your anger for the past seventy years?"	12 Allora l'angelo del Signore prese a dire: "Signore degli eserciti, fino a quando non ti muoverai a compassione di Gerusalemme e delle città di Giuda, contro le quali fai sentire il tuo sdegno già da settant'anni?".
13 Yahweh then replied with kind and comforting words to the angel who was talking to me.	13 Il Signore disse all'angelo che mi parlava parole buone, parole di conforto.
14 The angel who was talking to me then said to me, "Make this proclamation: Yahweh Sabaoth saysthis: I am burning with jealousy for Jerusalem and Zion	14 L'angelo che parlava con me mi disse: "Annuncia! Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Sono geloso di Gerusalemme e per Sion ho grande gelosia.
15 but am deeply angry with the nations now at ease; before, I was only mildly angry, but they contributedto the disaster.	15 Ma collera grande io sento contro le nazioni tracotanti; perché mi sono un poco sdegnato, esse si sono accanite nel male.
16 So now Yahweh says this: In compassion I have returned to Jerusalem; my Temple will be rebuiltthere -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- and the measuring line wil be stretched over Jerusalem.	16 Perciò così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Torno a Gerusalemme con pietà: la mia casa vi sarà ricostruita, la corda sarà stesa su Gerusalemme. Oracolo del Signore degli eserciti.
17 Make this proclamation too: Yahweh Sabaoth says this: My cities are once more to be veryprosperous. Yahweh will comfort Zion once again, and again make Jerusalem his choice." '	17 Annuncia ancora: Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: le mie città godranno di nuovo l'abbondanza; il Signore consolerà di nuovo Sion, sceglierà di nuovo Gerusalemme!".
