NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 When the men who were stil in their tents heard the news they were appal ed.	1 Al oírlo los del campamento, quedaron estupefactos;
2 Panic-stricken and trembling, no two of them could keep together, the rout was complete, with oneaccord they fled along every track across the plain or through the mountains.	2 fueron presa de terror pánico y nadie ya fue capaz de mantenerse al lado de sus compañeros: huyeron todos a la desbandada, por todos los caminos, por la llanura y la montaña.
3 The men who had been bivouacking in the mountains round Bethulia were fleeing too. Then al theIsraelite warriors charged down on them.	3 También los que estaban acampados en la altura, sitiando a Betulia, se dieron a la fuga; entonces, todos los hombres de guerra de Israel cayeron sobre ellos.
4 Uzziah sent messengers to Betomasthaim, Bebai, Choba, Kola, throughout the whole territory of Israel,to inform them of what had happened and to urge them al to hurl themselves on the enemy and annihilate them.	4 Ozías mandó aviso a Betomestáin, a Bebé, Jobá y Kolá, y a toda la montaña de Israel, dando noticia de cuanto había pasado, para que todos se arrojaran sobre los enemigos y los exterminaran.
5 As soon as the Israelites heard the news, they fel on them as one man and massacred them al theway to Choba. The men of Jerusalem and the entire mountain country also ral ied to them, once they had beeninformed of the events in the enemy camp. Then the men of Gilead and Galilee attacked them on the flank andstruck at them fiercely till they neared Damascus and its territory.	5 Cuando los israelitas lo supieron, todos, como un solo hombre, se lanzaron sobre los asirios y los batieron hasta Jobá. También acudieron los de Jerusalén y los de la montaña, porque también a ellos se les dio noticia de lo sucedido en el campo enemigo; de igual modo, los de Galaad y Galilea, atacándoles de flanco, les hicieron enorme estrago hasta que pudieron refugiarse en Damasco y su región.
6 Al the other inhabitants of Bethulia fel on the Assyrian camp and looted it to their great profit.	6 En cuanto a los demás habitantes de Betulia, cayeron sobre el campamento asirio, le saquearon y obtuvieron grandes riquezas.
7 The Israelites returning from the slaughter seized what was left. The hamlets and vil ages of themountain country and the plain also captured a great deal of booty, since there were vast stores of it.	7 Los israelitas, de vuelta de la matanza, se hicieron dueños del resto; también los de las aldeas y granjas de la montaña y del llano obtuvieron gran botín, porque había una abundancia incalculable.
8 Joakim the high priest and the entire Council of Elders of Israel, who were in Jerusalem, came to gazeon the benefits that the Lord had lavished on Israel and to see Judith and congratulate her.	8 El sumo sacerdote Yoyaquim, con el Consejo de Ancianos de Israel y los habitantes de Jerusalén, vinieron a contemplar los bienes que el Señor había hecho a Israel, y a ver y saludar a Judit.
9 On coming to her house, they blessed her with one accord, saying: You are the glory of Jerusalem!You are the great pride of Israel! You are the highest honour of our race!	9 En llegando a su presencia, todos a una voz la bendijeron diciendo: «Tú eres la exaltación de Jerusalén, tú el gran orgullo de Israel, tú la suprema gloria de nuestra raza.
10 By doing all this with your own hand you have deserved wel of Israel, and God has approved whatyou have done. May you be blessed by the Lord Almighty in al the days to come! And the people al said,'Amen!'	10 Al hacer todo esto por tu mano has procurado la dicha de Israel y Dios se ha complacido en lo que has hecho. Bendita seas del Señor Omnipotente por siglos infinitos». Y todo el pueblo respondió: «¡Amén!»
11 The people looted the camp for thirty days. They gave Judith the tent of Holofernes, al his silver plate,his divans, his drinking bowls and all his furniture. She took this, loaded her mule, harnessed her carts andheaped the things into them.	11 Todo el pueblo estuvo recogiendo botín del campamento durante treinta días; dieron a Judit la tienda de Holofernes, con toda su vajilla de plata, sus divanes, sus vasijas y todo su mobiliario. Ella lo tomó y lo cargó sobre su mula, preparó sus carros y los amontonó todo encima.
12 Al the women of Israel, hurrying to see her, formed choirs of dancers in her honour. Judith tookwands of vine-leaves in her hand and distributed them to the women who accompanied her;	12 Todas las mujeres de Israel acudieron para verla y la bendecían danzando en coro. Judit tomaba tirsos con la mano y los distribuía entre las mujeres que estaban a su lado.
13 she and her companions put on wreaths of olive. Then she took her place at the head of theprocession and led the women as they danced. Al the men of Israel, armed and garlanded, followed them,singing hymns.	13 Ellas y sus acompañantes se coronaron con coronas de olivo; después, dirigiendo el coro de las mujeres, se puso danzando a la cabeza de todo el pueblo. La seguían los hombres de Israel, armados de sus armas, llevando coronas y cantando himnos.
