Tobit 8

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 When they had finished eating and drinking and it seemed time to go to bed, the young man was takenfrom the dining room to the bedroom.	1 Cuando acabaron de comer y beber, decidieron acostarse, y tomando al joven le llevaron al aposento.
2 Tobias remembered Raphael's advice; he went to his bag, took the fish's heart and liver out of it and putsome on the burning incense.	2 Recordó Tobías las palabras de Rafael y, tomando el hígado y el corazón del pez de la bolsa donde los tenía, los puso sobre las brasas de los perfumes.
3 The reek of the fish distressed the demon, who fled through the air to Egypt. Raphael pursued himthere, shackled him and strangled him forthwith.	3 El olor del pez expulsó al demonio que escapó por los aires hacia la región de Egipto. Fuese Rafael a su alcance, le ató de pies y manos y en un instante le encadenó.
4 The parents meanwhile had gone out and shut the door behind them. Tobias rose from the bed, andsaid to Sarah, 'Get up, my sister! You and I must pray and petition our Lord to win his grace and his protection.'	4 Los padres salieron y cerraron la puerta de la habitación. Entonces Tobías se levantó del lecho y le dijo: «Levántate, hermana, y oremos y pidamos a nuestro Señor que se apiade de nosotros y nos salve».
5 She stood up, and they began praying for protection, and this was how he began: You are blessed, OGod of our fathers; blessed too is your name for ever and ever. Let the heavens bless you and al things youhave made for evermore.	5 Ella se levantó y empezaron a suplicar y a pedir el poder quedar a salvo. Comenzó él diciendo: ¡Bendito seas tú, Dios de nuestros padres, y bendito sea tu Nombre por todos los siglos de los siglos! Bendígante los cielos, y tu creación entera, por los siglos todos.
6 You it was who created Adam, you who created Eve his wife to be his help and support; and from thesetwo the human race was born. You it was who said, 'It is not right that the man should be alone; let us make hima helper like him.'	6 Tú creaste a Adán, y para él creaste a Eva, su mujer, para sostén y ayuda, y para que de ambos proviniera la raza de los hombres. Tú mismo dijiste: No es bueno que el hombre se halle solo; hagámosle una ayuda semejante a él.
7 And so I take my sister not for any lustful motive, but I do it in singleness of heart. Be kind enough tohave pity on her and on me and bring us to old age together.	7 Yo no tomo a esta mi hermana con deseo impuro, mas con recta intención. Ten piedad de mí y de ella y podamos llegar juntos a nuestra ancianidad.
8 And together they said, 'Amen, Amen,'	8 Y dijeron a coro: «Amén, amén».
9 and lay down for the night. But Raguel rose and cal ed his servants, who came and helped him dig agrave.	9 Y se acostaron para pasar la noche. Se levantó Ragüel y, llamando a los criados que tenía en casa, fueron a cavar una tumba,
10 He had thought, 'Heaven grant he does not die! We should be overwhelmed with ridicule and shame.'	10 porque se decía: «No sea que haya muerto y nos sirva de mofa y escarnio».
11 When the grave was ready, Raguel went back to the house, called his wife	11 Cuando tuvieron cavada la tumba, volvió Ragüel a casa, llamó a su mujer
12 and said, 'Will you send a maid to the room to see if Tobias is stil alive? For if he is dead, we may beable to bury him without anyone else knowing.'	12 y le dijo: «Manda a una criada que entre a ver si vive; y si ha muerto, le enterraremos sin que nadie se entere».
13 They sent the maid, lit the lamp, opened the door and the maid went in. She found the two fast asleeptogether;	13 Mandaron a la criada, encendieron la lámpara y abrieron la puerta; y entrando ella vio que estaban acostados juntos y dormidos.
14 she came out again and whispered, 'He is not dead; al is wel .'	14 Salió la criada y les anunció: «Vive, nada malo ha ocurrido».
15 Then Raguel blessed the God of heaven with these words: You are blessed, my God, with everyblessing that is pure; may you be blessed for evermore!	15 Ragüel bendijo al Dios del Cielo, diciendo: ¡Bendito seas, oh Dios, con toda pura bendición y seas bendecido por los siglos todos!
16 You are blessed for having made me glad. What I feared has not happened, instead you have shownus your boundless mercy.	16 Seas bendecido por haberme alegrado y no haber ocurrido el mal que temía, sino que has hecho con nosotros según tu gran piedad.
17 You are blessed for taking pity on this only son, this only daughter. Grant them, Master, your mercyand your protection; let them live out their lives in happiness and in mercy.	17 Seas bendecido por tener compasión de dos hijos únicos. Ten, Señor, piedad de ellos y dales tu salvación, y haz que su vida transcurra en alegría y piedad.
18 And he made his servants fil the grave in before dawn broke.	18 Después ordenó a sus criados que rellenasen la fosa antes que amaneciera.
19 He told his wife to make an ovenful of bread; he went to his flock, brought back two oxen and foursheep and gave orders for them to be cooked; and preparations began.	19 Mandó a su mujer cocer una gran hornada; y él fue al establo, tomó dos bueyes y cuatro carneros y ordenó que los aderezaran. Y comenzaron los preparativos.
20 He called Tobias and said, 'I wil not hear of your leaving here for a fortnight. You are to stay whereyou are, eating and drinking, with me. You wil make my daughter happy again after al her troubles.	20 Hizo llamar a Tobías y le dijo: «Durante catorce días no te moverás de aquí; te quedarás conmigo comiendo y bebiendo y llenarás de gozo el corazón de mi hija por sus tristezas pasadas.
21 After that, take away a half of al I have, and take her safe and sound back to your father. When mywife and I are dead you shall have the other half. Courage, my boy! I am your father, and Edna is your mother.We are your parents in future, as we are your sister's. Courage, my son!'	21 Luego, tomarás la mitad de todo cuanto aquí poseo y te volverás con felicidad a casa de tu padre. Cuando mi mujer y yo hayamos muerto, también será para vosotros la otra mitad. Ten confianza, hijo; yo soy tu padre y Edna tu madre; junto a ti estaremos y junto a tu hermana desde ahora en adelante. Ten confianza, hijo».
