2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the human race, To see if even one is wise, if even one seeks God. | 2 Dominus de caelo prospexit super filios hominum, ut videret si est intellegens aut requirens Deum. |
3 All have gone astray; all alike are perverse. Not one does what is right, not even one. | 3 Omnes declinaverunt, simul corrupti sunt; non est qui faciat bonum, non est usque ad unum. |
4 Will these evildoers never learn? They devour my people as they devour bread; they do not call upon the LORD. | 4 Nonne scient omnes, qui operantur iniquitatem, qui devorant plebem meam sicut escam panis? Dominum non invocaverunt; |
5 They have good reason, then, to fear; God is with the company of the just. | 5 illic trepidaverunt timore, quoniam Deus cum generatione iusta est. |
6 They would crush the hopes of the poor, but the poor have the LORD as their refuge. | 6 Vos consilium inopis confundetis, Dominus autem spes eius est. |
7 Oh, that from Zion might come the deliverance of Israel, That Jacob may rejoice, and Israel be glad when the LORD restores his people! | 7 Quis dabit ex Sion salutare Israel? Cum converterit Dominus captivitatem plebis suae, exsultabit Iacob, et laetabitur Israel. |
