Bless the LORD, my soul! LORD, my God, you are great indeed! You are clothed with majesty and glory, | 1 Alleluja. |
robed in light as with a cloak. You spread out the heavens like a tent; | 2 Cantate ei, et psallite ei ; narrate omnia mirabilia ejus. |
you raised your palace upon the waters. You make the clouds your chariot; you travel on the wings of the wind. | 3 Laudamini in nomine sancto ejus ; lætetur cor quærentium Dominum. |
You make the winds your messengers; flaming fire, your ministers. | 4 Quærite Dominum, et confirmamini ; quærite faciem ejus semper. |
You fixed the earth on its foundation, never to be moved. | 5 Mementote mirabilium ejus quæ fecit ; prodigia ejus, et judicia oris ejus : |
The ocean covered it like a garment; above the mountains stood the waters. | 6 semen Abraham servi ejus ; filii Jacob electi ejus. |
At your roar they took flight; at the sound of your thunder they fled. | 7 Ipse Dominus Deus noster ; in universa terra judicia ejus. |
They rushed up the mountains, down the valleys to the place you had fixed for them. | 8 Memor fuit in sæculum testamenti sui ; verbi quod mandavit in mille generationes : |
You set a limit they cannot pass; never again will they cover the earth.
You made springs flow into channels that wind among the mountains. | 10 et statuit illud Jacob in præceptum, et Israël in testamentum æternum, |
They give drink to every beast of the field; here wild asses quench their thirst. | 11 dicens : Tibi dabo terram Chanaan, funiculum hæreditatis vestræ : |
Beside them the birds of heaven nest; among the branches they sing. |
You water the mountains from your palace; by your labor the earth abounds. |
You raise grass for the cattle and plants for our beasts of burden. You bring bread from the earth, | 14 Non reliquit hominem nocere eis : et corripuit pro eis reges. |
and wine to gladden our hearts, Oil to make our faces gleam, food to build our strength. | 15 Nolite tangere christos meos, et in prophetis meis nolite malignari. |
The trees of the LORD drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon, which you planted. | 16 Et vocavit famem super terram, et omne firmamentum panis contrivit. |
There the birds build their nests; junipers are the home of the stork. | 17 Misit ante eos virum : in servum venumdatus est, Joseph. |
The high mountains are for wild goats; the rocky cliffs, a refuge for badgers. | 18 Humiliaverunt in compedibus pedes ejus ; ferrum pertransiit animam ejus : |
You made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun that knows the hour of its setting. | 19 donec veniret verbum ejus. Eloquium Domini inflammavit eum. |
You bring darkness and night falls, then all the beasts of the forest roam abroad. | 20 Misit rex, et solvit eum ; princeps populorum, et dimisit eum. |
Young lions roar for prey; they seek their food from God. | 21 Constituit eum dominum domus suæ, et principem omnis possessionis suæ : |
When the sun rises, they steal away and rest in their dens. |
People go forth to their work, to their labor till evening falls. | 23 Et intravit Israël in Ægyptum, et Jacob accola fuit in terra Cham. |
How varied are your works, LORD! In wisdom you have wrought them all; the earth is full of your creatures. | 24 Et auxit populum suum vehementer, et firmavit eum super inimicos ejus. |
Look at the sea, great and wide! It teems with countless beings, living things both large and small. |
Here ships ply their course; here Leviathan, your creature, plays. | 26 Misit Moysen servum suum ; Aaron quem elegit ipsum. |
All of these look to you to give them food in due time. | 27 Posuit in eis verba signorum suorum, et prodigiorum in terra Cham. |
When you give to them, they gather; when you open your hand, they are well filled. |
When you hide your face, they are lost. When you take away their breath, they perish and return to the dust from which they came. | 29 Convertit aquas eorum in sanguinem, et occidit pisces eorum. |
When you send forth your breath, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth. | 30 Edidit terra eorum ranas in penetralibus regum ipsorum. |
May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD be glad in these works! | 31 Dixit, et venit c?nomyia et ciniphes in omnibus finibus eorum. |
If God glares at the earth, it trembles; if God touches the mountains, they smoke! | 32 Posuit pluvias eorum grandinem : ignem comburentem in terra ipsorum. |
I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God while I live. | 33 Et percussit vineas eorum, et ficulneas eorum, et contrivit lignum finium eorum. |
May my theme be pleasing to God; I will rejoice in the LORD.
May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, my soul! Hallelujah! | 35 et comedit omne f?num in terra eorum, et comedit omnem fructum terræ eorum. |
