1 Az Úr ezt a szózatot intézte hozzám:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 »Emberfia, adj fel talányt és mondj példázatot Izrael házának,	2 'Son of man, put a riddle, propound a parable to the House of Israel.
3 és mondd: Így szól az Úr Isten: A hatalmas, nagyszárnyú sas, hatalmas szárnycsapásokkal, sűrű, tarka tollazattalelment a Libanonra, és elvitte egy cédrusfa hegyét.	3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: A great eagle with great wings, long-pinioned, rich with many-coloured plumage, came to the Lebanon.
4 Legfelső ágát letörte és átvitte a kereskedők országába; a kereskedők városába tette le.	4 He took the top of the cedar tree, he plucked off the top branch, he carried it off to the country ofmerchants and set it down in a city of shopkeepers.
5 S vett az ország magvából és a vetésre váró földbe helyezte, hogy gyökeret verjen a bőséges víz mellett; a föld színére helyezte.	5 Next, he took one of the country's seeds and put it in a fertile field; by the side of a generous stream,like a wil ow tree, he placed it.
6 Az kisarjadzott és szélesen elterülő, alacsony tőkéjű szőlővé növekedett, hogy ágai feléje forduljanak és gyökerei alatta legyenek. Szőlővé lett tehát, venyigéket növesztett és hajtásokat eresztett.	6 It grew and became a fruitful vine of modest size, grew up towards the eagle, its roots grewdownwards. So it became a vine, branching out and sprouting new shoots.
7 Volt egy másik hatalmas, nagyszárnyú, sűrű tollazatú sas is; és íme, az a szőlő mintha efelé nyújtotta volna gyökereit, efelé terjesztette volna ki vesszeit, hogy ez táplálja őt nedvességgel ültetésének ágyaiból.	7 But there was another great eagle with great wings and thick plumage. And now the vine twisted itsroots towards him and stretched its branches towards him, for him to water it away from the bed where it wasplanted.
8 Jó földbe, sok víz mellé volt ültetve, hogy lombot hajtson és gyümölcsöt teremjen, hogy nagy szőlőtővé legyen.	8 It was in a fertile field, by the side of a wide stream that the vine had been planted, to branch out andbear fruit and become a noble vine."
9 És mondd: Így szól az Úr Isten: Vajon jól fog-e járni? Vajon az nem fogja-e kitépni gyökereit, leszakítani gyümölcseit és elfonnyasztani minden kisarjadt vesszejét, hogy elszáradjon? Nem is kell hozzá sem hatalmas kar, sem nagyszámú nép, hogy gyökerestül kitépje!	9 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Will it succeed? Wil the eagle not tear out its roots and strip off itsfruit, so that al the new leaves it puts out wil wither, and no great strength is needed nor many people to pul itup by the roots?
10 Íme, el van ültetve; vajon jól fog-e járni? Ha megérinti a perzselő szél, nem fonnyad-e el, és ágyának barázdáiban nem szárad-e el?«	10 Planted it may be -- wil it succeed? Wil it not shrivel up when the east wind blows? It wil wither inthe bed where it was growing!" '
11 Akkor az Úr ezt a szózatot intézte hozzám:	11 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows:
12 »Ezt mondd az ellenszegülő háznak: Nem tudjátok, mit jelentenek ezek? Mondd: Íme, Babilon királya Jeruzsálembe érkezett, elhurcolta királyát és fejedelmeit és elvitte őket magához Babilonba.	12 'Say to that tribe of rebels, "Do you not know what this means?" Say this, 'Look, the king of Babyloncame to Jerusalem; he carried away the king and the princes, and took them to his home in Babylon.
13 Aztán fogott valakit a királyi nemzetségből, szövetségre lépett vele és esküt vett ki tőle; de az ország hatalmasait is elvitte,	13 He took a member of the royal family and made a treaty with him, forcing him to swear loyalty, havingalready deported the leading men of the country,
14 hogy az jelentéktelen királyság legyen és fel ne fuvalkodjék, hanem őrizze meg szövetségét és tartsa meg azt.	14 so that the kingdom would remain modest and without ambitions, and would keep and honour histreaty.
15 Ő azonban elpártolt tőle és követeket küldött Egyiptomba, hogy neki lovakat és nagy sereget adjon. Vajon jól fog-e járni vagy megszabadulhat-e, aki így cselekedett? Vajon megmenekülhet-e, aki megszegte a szövetséget?	15 But the prince rebelled against him and sent envoys to Egypt to procure himself horses and a largenumber of troops. Wil he succeed? Wil a man who has done this go unpunished? Can he break a treaty and gounpunished?
16 Életemre mondom, én, az Úr Isten: Ama király lakóhelyén, aki őt királlyá tette, akinek esküjét megszegte és vele kötött szövetségét felbontotta, Babilon területén fog meghalni!	16 As I live, I swear it -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- in Babylon, in the country of the king who put himon the throne, whose oath he has disregarded and whose treaty he has broken, there he will die.
17 Mert a fáraó nem visel majd ellene hadat nagy hadsereggel, sem sok hadinéppel, amikor az majd töltést készít és sáncot emel, hogy számos embert megöljön.	17 Despite the pharaoh's great army and hordes of men, he wil not be able to save him by fighting,however many earthworks are raised, however many trenches dug to the loss of many lives.
18 Mert semmibe vette az esküt és megszegte a szövetséget, holott íme, kezet adott rá; és mivel mindezeket cselekedte, nem fog megmenekülni.	18 He has disregarded the oath by breaking the treaty to which he had pledged himself and, havingdone al this, wil not go unpunished.
19 Ezért így szól az Úr Isten: Életemre mondom: Az esküt, amelyet semmibe vett, és a szövetséget, amelyet megszegett, az ő fejére fordítom!	19 "So, the Lord Yahweh says this: As I live, I swear it: my oath which he has disregarded, my treatywhich he has broken, I shall make them both recoil on his own head.
20 Kivetem rá hálómat és megfogom őt varsámban és elviszem Babilonba, és ott megítélem hűtlensége miatt, amellyel engem megvetett.	20 I shal throw my net over him, he wil be caught in my mesh; I shall take him to Babylon and punishhim there for being unfaithful to me.
21 S mindazok, akik vele megfutottak egész seregével együtt, kard által esnek el; akik pedig életben maradnak, a szél minden irányába szétszóródnak, és megtudjátok, hogy én, az Úr, szóltam!«	21 Al the pick of al his troops wil fal by the sword, and the survivors be scattered to al the winds. Andyou wil know that I, Yahweh, have spoken.
22 Így szól az Úr Isten: »Akkor majd én is veszek egy ágat a magas cédrusfa tetejéről és elültetem; ágainak tetejéről egy gyönge ágat letörök, és elültetem egy magas és kiemelkedő hegyen.	22 "The Lord Yahweh says this: From the top of the tal cedar tree, from the highest branch I shal take ashoot and plant it myself on a high and lofty mountain.
23 Izrael magas hegyén ültetem el, kisarjadzik majd és gyümölcsöt terem, és nagy cédrussá lesz; alatta laknak majd a madarak mind, és fészket rak valamennyi szárnyas lombjainak árnyékában;	23 I shal plant it on the highest mountain in Israel. It wil put out branches and bear fruit and grow into anoble cedar tree. Every kind of bird wil live beneath it, every kind of winged creature will rest in the shade of itsbranches.
24 Akkor megtudja majd a vidék minden fája, hogy én, az Úr, aláztam meg a magas fát és magasztaltam fel az alacsony fát; hogy én szárítottam ki a zöldellő fát és borítottam virágba a száraz fát. Én, az Úr, szóltam, és meg is cselekedtem!«	24 And al the trees of the countryside wil know that I, Yahweh, am the one who lays the tal tree lowand raises the low tree high, who makes the green tree wither and makes the withered bear fruit. I, Yahweh,have spoken, and I wil do it." '
