1 Osmoga mjeseca druge godine Darijeve dođe riječ Jahvina proroku Zahariji, sinu Berekjinu, sinu Idonovu.	1 In the second year of Darius, in the eighth month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to the prophetZechariah (son of Berechiah), son of Iddo, as fol ows,
2 »Jahve se teško razgnjevio na oce vaše!	2 'Yahweh was deeply angry with your ancestors.
3 Zatim im reci: Ovako govori Jahve nad vojskama: ‘Vratite se meni, i ja ću se vratiti vama’ – riječ je Jahve nad vojskama.	3 So say this to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Return to me -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- and I willreturn to you, says Yahweh Sabaoth.
4 ‘Ne budite poput svojih otaca koje su pozivali negdašnji proroci.’ Ovako govori Jahve nad vojskama: ‘Vratite se sa zlih putova svojih i od zlih djela. Ali oni nisu slušali ni pazili na mene’ – govori Jahve.	4 Do not be like your ancestors when the prophets in the past cried to them: Yahweh Sabaoth says this:Turn back from your evil ways and evil deeds -- they would not listen or pay attention to me -- Yahweh declares.
5 ‘Gdje su sad oci vaši? Zar će dovijeka živjeti proroci?	5 Where are your ancestors now? And the prophets, do they live for ever?
6 Ali moje riječi i odredbe, koje sam naložio slugama svojim prorocima, nisu li stigle vaše oce? Oni se obratiše i priznaše: ‘Jahve nad vojskama učinio je s nama kako bijaše namislio učiniti prema našim putovima i našim djelima.’«	6 But did not my words and statutes, with which I had charged my servants the prophets, overtake yourancestors just the same?" ' So they repented and said, 'Yahweh Sabaoth has treated us as he resolved to do,and as our ways and deeds deserved.'
7 Prvo viđenje: konjanici Dvadeset i četvrtog dana, jedanaestoga mjeseca, a to je mjesec sebat, druge godine Darijeve, dođe riječ Jahvina proroku Zahariji, sinu Berekjinu, sinu Idonovu.	7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month (the month of Shebat), in the second year of Darius, theword of Yahweh was addressed to the prophet Zechariah (son of Berechiah), son of Iddo, as fol ows,
8 Imao sam noću viđenje. Gle, na riđanu čovjek jaše među mirtama koje imaju duboko korijenje, a iza njega konji riđi, smeđi i bijeli.	8 'I had a vision during the night. There was a man riding a red horse standing among the deep-rootedmyrtles; behind him were other horses-red, chestnut and white.
9 Upitah: »Koji su ovi, gospodaru?« Anđeo koji je sa mnom govorio reče mi: »Ja ću ti pokazati koji su.«	9 I said, "What are these, my lord?" And the angel who was talking to me said, "I will show you what they are."
10 Čovjek koji stajaše među mirtama odgovori: »Ovo su oni koje je poslao Jahve da obilaze zemlju.«	10 The man standing among the myrtles then replied, "Those are they whom Yahweh has sent to patrolthe world."
11 Oni se obratiše anđelu Jahvinu, koji stajaše među mirtama, i kazaše: »Obišli smo zemlju, i gle: sva zemlja počiva i miruje.«	11 They reported to the angel of Yahweh as he stood among the myrtles, "We have been patrol ing theworld, and indeed the whole world is stil and at peace."
12 Tada progovori anđeo Jahvin i reče: »Jahve nad vojskama, kada ćeš se već jednom smilovati Jeruzalemu i gradovima judejskim na koje se već sedamdeset godina ljuto srdiš?«	12 The angel of Yahweh then spoke and said, "Yahweh Sabaoth, how long wil you wait before taking pityon Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, on which you have inflicted your anger for the past seventy years?"
13 A Jahve anđelu koji je govorio sa mnom odgovori utješnim riječima.	13 Yahweh then replied with kind and comforting words to the angel who was talking to me.
14 I anđeo koji je govorio sa mnom reče mi: »Objavi ovo: Ovako govori Jahve nad vojskama: ‘Ljubavlju ljubomornom gorim za Jeruzalem i za Sion,	14 The angel who was talking to me then said to me, "Make this proclamation: Yahweh Sabaoth saysthis: I am burning with jealousy for Jerusalem and Zion
15 a velikim gnjevom plamtim na ohole narode, jer kad se ono malo rasrdih, oni prijeđoše mjeru.’	15 but am deeply angry with the nations now at ease; before, I was only mildly angry, but they contributedto the disaster.
16 Zato ovako govori Jahve: ‘Vraćam se Jeruzalemu s milosrđem; opet će u njemu sagraditi Dom moj’ – riječ je Jahve nad vojskama – ‘i opet će se u Jeruzalemu protezati uže mjeračko.’	16 So now Yahweh says this: In compassion I have returned to Jerusalem; my Temple will be rebuiltthere -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- and the measuring line wil be stretched over Jerusalem.
17 I ovo poruči: Ovako govori Jahve nad vojskama: ‘Moji će se gradovi opet prelijevati obiljem, i Jahve će utješiti Sion, izabrati Jeruzalem.’«	17 Make this proclamation too: Yahweh Sabaoth says this: My cities are once more to be veryprosperous. Yahweh will comfort Zion once again, and again make Jerusalem his choice." '
