1 Tada reče Salomon: »Jahve odluči prebivati u tmastu oblaku,	1 Then Solomon said: Yahweh has chosen to dwel in thick cloud,
2 a ja ti sagradih uzvišen dom da u njemu prebivaš zauvijek.«	2 and I have built you a princely dwel ing, a residence for you for ever.
3 I, okrenuvši se, kralj blagoslovi sav izraelski zbor, a sav je izraelski zbor stajao.	3 Then the king turned round and blessed the whole assembly of Israel, while the whole assembly ofIsrael stood.
4 Reče on: »Neka je blagoslovljen Jahve, Bog Izraelov, koji svojom rukom ispuni obećanje što ga na svoja usta dade ocu mome Davidu, rekavši:	4 He said, 'Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who has carried out by his hand what he promisedverbally to my father David, when he said,
5 ‘Od dana kad izvedoh svoj narod iz egipatske zemlje nisam izabrao grada ni iz kojeg Izraelova plemena da se u njemu sagradi dom gdje bi prebivalo moje ime, niti sam izabrao ikoga da vlada nad mojim narodom izraelskim.	5 "From the day I brought my people out of Egypt I chose no city, in any of the tribes of Israel, to have atemple built where my name should be, nor did I choose anyone to be prince of my people Israel;
6 Ali sam izabrao Jeruzalem da u njemu obitava moje ime i odabrao Davida da zapovijeda mojem narodu izraelskom.’	6 but I did choose Jerusalem for my name to be there, and I did choose David to rule my people Israel."
7 Otac mi David naumi podići dom imenu Jahve, Boga Izraelova,	7 My father David had set his heart on building a temple for the name of Yahweh, God of Israel,
8 ali mu Jahve reče: ‘Naumio si podići dom imenu mojem, i dobro učini,	8 but Yahweh said to my father David, "You have set your heart on building a temple for my name, and inthis you have done wel ;
9 ali nećeš ti podići toga doma, nego tvoj sin koji izađe iz tvoga krila; on će podići dom imenu mojem.’	9 and yet, you are not the man to build the temple; but your son, yet to be born to you, wil be the one tobuild the temple for my name."
10 Jahve ispuni obećanje svoje: naslijedio sam oca Davida i sjeo na prijestolje Izraelovo, kako obeća Jahve, podigao dom imenu Jahve, Boga Izraelova,	10 Yahweh has kept the promise which he made: I have succeeded my father David and am seated onthe throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised; I have built the temple for the name of Yahweh, God of Israel,
11 i namjestio Kovčeg u kojem je Savez što ga Jahve sklopi sa sinovima Izraelovim.«	11 and I have placed in it the ark containing the covenant of Yahweh, which he made with the Israelites.'
12 Tada Salomon stupi, u nazočnosti svega zbora Izraelova, pred žrtvenik Jahvin i raširi ruke.	12 Then in the presence of the whole assembly of Israel, he stood facing the altar of Yahweh andstretched out his hands-
13 Salomon je, naime, bio napravio mjedeno podnožje, dugo pet lakata i široko pet lakata, a visoko tri lakta, i stavio ga nasred predvorja; stavši na nj, kleknuo je pred svim zborom Izraelovim i, raširivši ruke k nebu,	13 for Solomon had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide and five cubits high, whichhe had placed in the middle of the court and on which he was standing; he knelt down in front of the wholeassembly of Israel, stretched out his hands to heaven-
14 rekao: »Jahve, Bože Izraelov! Nijedan ti bog nije sličan ni na nebesima ni na zemlji, tebi koji držiš Savez i ljubav svojim slugama što kroče pred tobom sa svim svojim srcem.	14 and said, 'Yahweh, God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven or on earth, you who are loyal tothe covenant and show faithful love to your servants as long as they walk wholeheartedly in your way.
15 Sluzi svome Davidu, mojem ocu, ispunio si što si mu obećao. Što si obećao na svoja usta, ispunio si svojom rukom upravo danas.	15 You have kept it with your servant, my father David, as you promised him you would. What youpromised verbally today you have carried out by your hand.
16 Jahve, Bože Izraelov, sada ispuni svome sluzi, ocu mome Davidu, što si mu obećao kad si rekao: ‘Neće ti preda mnom nestati nasljednika koji bi sjedio na izraelskom prijestolju, samo ako tvoji sinovi budu čuvali svoje putove hodeći po mojem zakonu kako si ti hodio preda mnom.’	16 And now, Yahweh, God of Israel, keep the promise which you made to your servant David when yousaid, "You wil never lack for a man to sit in my presence before me on the throne of Israel, provided that yoursons are careful how they behave, fol owing my law as you yourself have done."
17 Jahve, Bože Izraelov, neka se sada, dakle, ispuni obećanje koje si dao svome sluzi Davidu!	17 So now, God of Israel, let the words come true which you spoke to your servant, my father David.
18 Ali zar će Bog doista boraviti s ljudima na zemlji? Ta nebesa ni nebesa nad nebesima ne mogu ga obuhvatiti, a kamoli ovaj dom što sam ga sagradio!	18 Yet wil God real y live with the people on earth? Why, the heavens and the heavens of the heavenscannot contain you! How much less this temple built by me!
19 Pomno počuj molitvu i vapaj svoga sluge, Jahve, Bože moj, te usliši prošnju i molitvu što je tvoj sluga k tebi upućuje!	19 Even so, listen favourably to the prayer and entreaty of your servant, Yahweh my God; listen to the cryand to the prayer which your servant makes to you:
20 Neka tvoje oči obdan i obnoć budu otvorene nad ovim domom, nad ovim mjestom za koje reče da ćeš u nj smjestiti svoje ime. Usliši molitvu koju će sluga tvoj izmoliti na ovome mjestu.«	20 Day and night, may your eyes watch over this temple, over this place in which you have promised toput your name. Listen to the prayer which your servant offers in this place.
21 Molitva za narod »I usliši molitvu sluge svoga i naroda svojega izraelskog koju bude upravljao prema ovome mjestu. Usliši s mjesta gdje prebivaš, s nebesa, usliši i oprosti!	21 'Listen to the entreaties of your servant and of your people Israel; whenever they pray in this place,listen from the place where you reside in heaven; and when you hear, forgive.
22 Ako tko zgriješi protiv bližnjega i bude mu naređeno da se zakune i zakletva dođe pred tvoj žrtvenik u ovom domu,	22 'If someone has wronged his neighbour and a curse is laid on him to make him swear here beforeyour altar in this Temple,
23 ti je čuj s neba, postupaj i sudi svojim slugama, osudi krivca okrećući njegova nedjela na njegovu glavu, a nevina oslobodi postupajući s njime po nevinosti njegovoj.	23 then listen from heaven and do justice between your servants, paying back the guilty one by makinghim suffer for his conduct, and acquitting the upright by rewarding him as his uprightness deserves.
24 Ako narod tvoj poraze neprijatelji jer se ogriješio o tebe, ali se ipak k tebi obrati i proslavi ime tvoje i u ovom se domu pomoli i zavapije k tebi,	24 'If your people Israel are defeated by the enemy because they have sinned against you, but thenreturn to you and acknowledge your name, and pray and seek your favour in this temple,
25 onda ti čuj to s neba, oprosti grijehe svojem narodu izraelskom i dovedi ga natrag u zemlju koju si dao njima i njihovim očevima.	25 then listen from heaven; forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them back to the countrywhich you gave to them and their ancestors.
26 Ako se zatvori nebo i ne padne kiša jer su se ogriješili o tebe, pa ti se pomole na ovom mjestu i proslave ime tvoje i obrate se od svojega grijeha kad ih ti poniziš,	26 'When the heavens are shut and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray inthis place and praise your name and, having been humbled by you, desist from their sin,
27 tada čuj s neba i oprosti grijeh svojim slugama i svojem izraelskom narodu, pokazujući mu valjan put kojim će ići, i pusti kišu na zemlju koju si narodu svojem dao u baštinu.	27 then listen from heaven and forgive the sin of your servant and of your people Israel -- for you areconstantly showing them the good way which they must fol ow -- and send rain on your country, which you havegiven to your people as their heritage.
28 Kad u zemlji zavlada glad, kuga, snijet i rđa, kad navale skakavci i gusjenice, kad neprijatelj ovoga naroda pritisne koja od njegovih vrata ili kad udari kakva druga nevolja ili boleština,	28 'Should there be famine in the country, or pestilence, wind-blast or mildew, locust or caterpil ar; shouldtheir enemy lay siege to their territory; should there be any plague or any disease;
29 počuj svaku molitvu, svaki vapaj od kojega god čovjeka ili od cijeloga tvoga naroda izraelskog; ako svaki osjeti bol u srcu i raširi ruke k ovom domu,	29 whatever be the prayer or entreaty of any individual, or of al your people Israel, each being aware ofhis own affliction and pain; when he stretches out his hands towards this Temple,
30 usliši im molitvu i vapaj njihov u nebu gdje boraviš i oprosti i daj svakomu po njegovim putovima, jer ti poznaješ srce njegovo; jer ti jedini prozireš srca ljudi	30 then listen from heaven where you reside; forgive and, since you know what is in his heart, deal witheach as his conduct deserves -- for you alone know what is in the human heart-
31 da te se boje idući tvojim putovima dokle god žive na zemlji što je ti dade našim očevima.	31 so that they may revere you by following your directions, which you gave to our ancestors, throughouttheir lives on earth.
32 Pa i tuđinca, koji nije od tvojega naroda izraelskog, nego je stigao iz daleke zemlje radi veličine tvoga imena i radi tvoje snažne ruke i podignute mišice, ako dođe i pomoli se u ovom domu,	32 'Even the foreigner, not belonging to your people Israel but coming from a distant country, attracted byyour great name, your mighty hand and outstretched arm, if he comes and prays in this Temple,
33 usliši s neba, gdje prebivaš, usliši sve vapaje njegove da bi svi zemaljski narodi upoznali ime tvoje i bojali te se kao narod tvoj izraelski i da znaju da je tvoje ime prizvano nad ovaj dom koji sam sagradio.	33 then listen from heaven where you reside, and grant al that the foreigner asks of you, so that al thepeoples of the earth may acknowledge your name and, like your people Israel, revere you, and know that thisTemple, which I have built, bears your name.
34 Kad narod tvoj krene na neprijatelja putem kojim ga ti uputiš i pomoli se tebi, okrenut gradu što si ga izabrao i prema domu koji sam podigao tvome imenu,	34 'If your people go out to war against their enemies, on whatever mission you send them, and they prayto you, turning towards this city which you have chosen and towards the Temple which I have built for yourname,
35 usliši mu s neba molitvu i prošnju i učini mu pravdu.	35 then listen from heaven to their prayer and their entreaty, and uphold their cause.
36 Kad ti sagriješe, jer nema čovjeka koji ne griješi, a ti ih, rasrdivši se na njih, predaš neprijateljima da ih zarobe i odvedu kao roblje u daleku ili blizu zemlju,	36 'When they sin against you -- for there is no one who does not sin -- and you are angry with them andabandon them to the enemy, and their captors carry them off to a country be it far away or near,
37 pa ako se pokaju srcem u zemlji u koju budu dovedeni te se obrate i počnu te moliti za milost u zemlji svojih osvajača govoreći: ‘Zgriješili smo’	37 if they come to their senses in the country to which they have been taken as captives and pray to youonce again in the country of their captivity, saying, "We have sinned, we have acted wrongly and wickedly,"
38 i tako se obrate tebi svim srcem i svom dušom u zemlji svoga ropstva u koju budu dovedeni kao roblje, i pomole se okrenuti k zemlji što je ti dade njihovim očevima i prema gradu koji si odabrao i prema domu što sam ga podigao tvom imenu,	38 and turn back to you with al their heart and soul in the country of their captivity to which they havebeen carried away as captives, and pray, turning towards the country which you gave to their ancestors, towardsthe city you have chosen, and towards the Temple which I have built for your name,
39 usliši s neba, gdje prebivaš, njihovu molbu i njihove prošnje, učini im pravdu i oprosti svome narodu što ti je zgriješio.«	39 then listen from heaven where you reside, hear their prayer and entreaties, uphold their cause andforgive your people for having sinned against you.
40 »Sada, Bože moj, neka tvoje oči budu otvorene i tvoje uši pažljive na molitve na ovom mjestu!	40 'Now, O my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to prayer offered in this place.
41 Pa sada ustani, o Bože Jahve, pođi k svojem počivalištu, ti i Kovčeg tvoje snage; neka se obuku u spasenje tvoji svećenici, o Bože Jahve, i vjerni tvoji neka se raduju u sreći!	41 And now Yahweh God, go up to your resting-place, you and your fortress, the Ark! Let your priests,Yahweh God, be robed in salvation, let your faithful rejoice in what is good!
42 Bože Jahve, ne odvrati lica od svog pomazanika, spomeni se milòstî što ih dade sluzi svome Davidu!«	42 Yahweh God, do not rebuff your Anointed -- remember the faithful love of your servant David!'
