1 And Jesus went unto mount Olivet.	1 Mas Jesús se fue al monte de los Olivos.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and sitting down he taught them.	2 Pero de madrugada se presentó otra vez en el Templo, y todo el pueblo acudía a él. Entonces se sentó y se puso a enseñarles.
3 And the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman taken in adultery: and they set her in the midst,	3 Los escribas y fariseos le llevan una mujer sorprendida en adulterio, la ponen en medio
4 And said to him: Master, this woman was even now taken in adultery.	4 y le dicen: «Maestro, esta mujer ha sido sorprendida en flagrante adulterio.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such a one. But what sayest thou?	5 Moisés nos mandó en la Ley apedrear a estas mujeres. ¿Tú qué dices?»
6 And this they said tempting him, that they might accuse him. But Jesus bowing himself down, wrote with his finger on the ground.	6 Esto lo decían para tentarle, para tener de qué acuasarle. Pero Jesús, inclinándose, se puso a escribir con el dedo en la tierra.
7 When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.	7 Pero, como ellos insistían en preguntarle, se incorporó y les dijo: «Aquel de vosotros que esté sin pecado, que le arroje la primera piedra».
8 And again stooping down, he wrote on the ground.	8 E inclinándose de nuevo, escribía en la tierra.
9 But they hearing this, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, and the woman standing in the midst.	9 Ellos, al oír estas palabras, se iban retirando uno tras otro, comenzando por los más viejos; y se quedó solo Jesús con la mujer, que seguía en medio.
10 Then Jesus lifting up himself, said to her: Woman, where are they that accused thee? Hath no man condemned thee?	10 Incorporándose Jesús le dijo: «Mujer, ¿dónde están? ¿Nadie te ha condenado?»
11 Who said: No man, Lord. And Jesus said: Neither will I condemn thee. Go, and now sin no more.	11 Ella respondió: «Nadie, Señor». Jesús le dijo: «Tampoco yo te condeno. Vete, y en adelante no peques más».
12 Again therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying: I am the light of the world: he that followeth me, walketh not in darkness, but shall have the light of life.	12 Jesús les habló otra vez diciendo: «Yo soy la luz del mundo; el que me siga no caminará en la oscuridad, sino que tendrá la luz de la vida».
13 The Pharisees therefore said to him: Thou givest testimony of thyself: thy testimony is not true.	13 Los fariseos le dijeron: «Tú das testimonio de ti mismo: tu testimonio no vale».
14 Jesus answered, and said to them: Although I give testimony of myself, my testimony is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go: but you know not whence I come, or whither I go.	14 Jesús les respondió: «Aunque yo dé testimonio de mí mismo, mi testimonio vale, porque sé de dónde he venido y a dónde voy; pero vosotros no sabéis de dónde vengo ni a dónde voy.
15 You judge according to the flesh: I judge not any man.	15 Vosotros juzgáis según la carne; yo no juzgo a nadie;
16 And if I do judge, my judgment is true: because I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.	16 y si juzgo, mi juicio es verdadero, porque no estoy yo solo, sino yo y el que me ha enviado.
17 And in your law it is written, that the testimony of two men is true.	17 Y en vuestra Ley está escrito que el testimonio de dos personas es válido.
18 I am one that give testimony of myself: and the Father that sent me giveth testimony of me.	18 Yo soy el que doy testimonio de mí mismo y también el que me ha enviado, el Padre, da testimonio de mí».
19 They said therefore to him: Where is thy Father? Jesus answered: Neither me do you know, nor my Father: if you did know me, perhaps you would know my Father also.	19 Entonces le decían: «¿Dónde está tu Padre?» Respondió Jesús: «No me conocéis ni a mí ni a mi Padre; si me conocierais a mí, conoceríais también a mi Padre».
20 These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, teaching in the temple: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.	20 Estas palabras las pronunció en el Tesoro, mientras enseñaba en el Templo. Y nadie le prendió, porque aún no había llegado su hora.
21 Again therefore Jesus said to them: I go, and you shall seek me, and you shall die in your sin. Whither I go, you cannot come.	21 Jesús les dijo otra vez: «Yo me voy y vosotros me buscaréis, y moriréis en vuestro pecado. Adonde yo voy, vosotros no podéis ir».
22 The Jews therefore said: Will he kill himself, because he said: Whither I go, you cannot come?	22 Los judíos se decían: «¿Es que se va a suicidar, pues dice: “Adonde yo voy, vosotros no podéis ir?»
23 And he said to them: You are from beneath, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world.	23 El les decía: «Vosotros sois de abajo, yo soy de arriba. Vosotros sois de este mundo, yo no soy de este mundo.
24 Therefore I said to you, that you shall die in your sins. For if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sin.	24 Ya os he dicho que moriréis en vuestros pecados, porque si no creéis que Yo Soy, moriréis en vuestros pecados».
25 They said therefore to him: Who art thou? Jesus said to them: The beginning, who also speak unto you.	25 Entonces le decían: «¿Quién eres tú?» Jesús les respondió: «Desde el principio, lo que os estoy diciendo.
26 Many things I have to speak and to judge of you. But he that sent me, is true: and the things I have heard of him, these same I speak in the world.	26 Mucho podría hablar de vosotros y juzgar pero el que me ha enviado es veraz, y lo que le he oído a él es lo que hablo al mundo».
27 And they understood not, that he called God his Father.	27 No comprendieron que les hablaba del Padre.
28 Jesus therefore said to them: When you shall have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know, that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as the Father hath taught me, these things I speak:	28 Les dijo, pues, Jesús: «Cuando hayáis levantado al Hijo del hombre, entonces sabréis que Yo Soy, y que no hago nada por mi propia cuenta; sino que, lo que el Padre me ha enseñado, eso es lo que hablo.
29 And he that sent me, is with me, and he hath not left me alone: for I do always the things that please him.	29 Y el que me ha enviado está conmigo: no me ha dejado solo, porque yo hago siempre lo que le agrada a él».
30 When he spoke these things, many believed in him.	30 Al hablar así, muchos creyeron en él.
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews, who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed.	31 Decía, pues, Jesús a los judíos que habían creído en él: «Si os mantenéis en mi Palabra, seréis verdaderamente mis discípulos,
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.	32 y conoceréis la verdad y la verdad os hará libres».
33 They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham, and we have never been slaves to any man: how sayest thou: you shall be free?	33 Ellos le respondieron: «Nosotros somos descendencia de Abraham y nunca hemos sido esclavos de nadie. ¿Cómo dices tú: Os haréis libres?»
34 Jesus answered them: Amen, amen I say unto you: that whosoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin.	34 Jesús les respondió: «En verdad, en verdad os digo: todo el que comete pecado es un esclavo.
35 Now the servant abideth not in the house for ever; but the son abideth for ever.	35 Y el esclavo no se queda en casa para siempre; mientras el hijo se queda para siempre.
36 If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.	36 Si, pues, el Hijo os da la libertad, seréis realmente libres.
37 I know that you are the children of Abraham: but you seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.	37 Ya sé que sois descendencia de Abraham; pero tratáis de matarme, porque mi Palabra no prende en vosotros.
38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and you do the things that you have seen with your father.	38 Yo hablo lo que he visto donde mi Padre; y vosotros hacéis lo que habéis oído donde vuestro padre».
39 They answered, and said to him: Abraham is our father. Jesus saith to them: If you be the children of Abraham, do the works of Abraham.	39 Ellos le respondieron: «Nuestro padre es Abraham». Jesús les dice: «Si sois hijos de Abraham, haced las obras de Abraham.
40 But now you seek to kill me, a man who have spoken the truth to you, which I have heard of God. This Abraham did not.	40 Pero tratáis de matarme, a mí que os he dicho la verdad que oí de Dios. Eso no lo hizo Abraham.
41 You do the works of your father. They said therefore to him: We are not born of fornication: we have one Father, even God.	41 Vosotros hacéis las obras de vuestro padre». Ellos le dijeron: «Nosotros no hemos nacido de la prostitución; no tenemos más padre que a Dios».
42 Jesus therefore said to them: If God were your Father, you would indeed love me. For from God I proceeded, and came; for I came not of myself, but he sent me:	42 Jesús les respondió: «Si Dios fuera vuestro Padre, me amaríais a mí, porque yo he salido y vengo de Dios; no he venido por mi cuenta, sino que él me ha enviado.
43 Why do you not know my speech? Because you cannot hear my word.	43 ¿Por qué no reconocéis mi lenguaje? Porque no podéis escuchar mi Palabra.
44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.	44 Vosotros sois de vuestro padre el diablo y queréis cumplir los deseos de vuestro padre. Este era homicida desde el principio, y no se mantuvo en la verdad, porque no hay verdad en él; cuando dice la mentira, dice lo que le sale de dentro, porque es mentiroso y padre de la mentira.
45 But if I say the truth, you believe me not.	45 Pero a mí, como os digo la verdad, no me creéis.
46 Which of you shall convince me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe me?	46 ¿Quién de vosotros puede probar que soy pecador? Si digo la verdad, ¿por qué no me creéis?
47 He that is of God, heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God.	47 El que es de Dios, escucha las palabras de Dios; vosotros no las escucháis, porque no sois de Dios».
48 The Jews therefore answered, and said to him: Do not we say well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?	48 Los judíos le respondieron: «¿No decimos, con razón, que eres samaritano y que tienes un demonio?»
49 Jesus answered: I have not a devil: but I honour my Father, and you have dishonoured me.	49 Respondió Jesús: «Yo no tengo un demonio; sino que honro a mi Padre, y vosotros me deshonráis a mí.
50 But I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.	50 Pero yo no busco mi gloria; ya hay quien la busca y juzga.
51 Amen, amen I say to you: If any man keep my word, he shall not see death for ever.	51 En verdad, en verdad os digo: si alguno guarda mi Palabra, no verá la muerte jamás».
52 The Jews therefore said: Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest: If any man keep my word, he shall not taste death for ever.	52 Le dijeron los judíos: «Ahora estamos seguros de que tienes un demonio. Abraham murió, y también los profetas; y tú dices: “Si alguno guarda mi Palabra, no probará la muerte jamás.”
53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead. Whom dost thou make thyself?	53 ¿Eres tú acaso más grande que nuestro padre Abraham, que murió? También los profetas murieron. ¿Por quién te tienes a ti mismo?»
54 Jesus answered: If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom you say that he is your God.	54 Jesús respondió: «Si yo me glorificara a mí mismo, mi gloria no valdría nada; es mi Padre quien me glorifica, de quien vosotros decís: “El es nuestro Dios”,
55 And you have not known him, but I know him. And if I shall say that I know him not, I shall be like to you, a liar. But I do know him, and do keep his word.	55 y sin embargo no le conocéis, yo sí que le conozco, y si dijera que no le conozco, sería un mentiroso como vosotros. Pero yo le conozco, y guardo su Palabra.
56 Abraham your father rejoiced that he might see my day: he saw it, and was glad.	56 Vuestro padre Abraham se regocijó pensando en ver mi Día; lo vio y se alegró».
57 The Jews therefore said to him: Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?	57 Entonces los judíos le dijeron: «¿Aún no tienes cincuenta años y has visto a Abraham?»
58 Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.	58 Jesús les respondió: «En verdad, en verdad os digo: antes de que Abraham existiera, Yo Soy».
59 They took up stones therefore to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.	59 Entonces tomaron piedras para tirárselas; pero Jesús se ocultó y salió del Templo.
