Zephaniah 3

1 Woe to the provoking, and redeemed city, the dove.	1 Malheur à la rebelle, la ville tyrannique et souillée!
2 She hath not hearkened to the voice, neither hath she received discipline: she hath not trusted in the Lord, she drew not near to her God.	2 Elle n’a pas entendu l’appel, elle n’a pas reçu les leçons, elle n’a pas mis sa confiance en Yahvé, elle ne s’est pas rapprochée de son Dieu.
3 Her princes are in the midst of her as roaring lions: her judges are evening wolves, they left nothing for the morning.	3 Ses chefs au milieu d’elle sont comme des lions rugissants, ses juges, comme des loups du soir qui ne gardent rien pour le matin.
4 Her prophets are senseless men without faith: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have acted unjustly against the law.	4 Ses prophètes sont des fanfarons, prêts à tous les mensonges; ses prêtres profanent les choses saintes et violent la Loi.
5 The just Lord is in the midst thereof, he will not do iniquity: in the morning, in the morning he will bring his judgment to light, and it shall not be hid: but the wicked man hath not known shame.	5 Mais au milieu d’elle se tient Yahvé, le Juste; chaque matin il prononce son jugement. Il est fidèle comme le lever du soleil; lui ne commet pas l’injustice. Mais l’injuste ne connaît pas la honte.
6 I have destroyed the nations, and their towers are beaten down: I have made their ways desert, so that there is none that passeth by: their cities are desolate, there is not a man remaining, nor any inhabitant.	6 J’ai supprimé des nations, leurs tours ont été détruites; j’ai laissé leurs rues désertes, nul n’y passe; leurs villes ont été saccagées, plus personne n’y habite.
7 I said: Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive correction: and her dwelling shall not perish, for all things wherein I have visited her: but they rose early and corrupted all their thoughts.	7 Je me disais: “Au moins, tu me craindras, tu accepteras la leçon”. Je me disais encore: “Elle ne pourra pas oublier toutes mes menaces.” Et pourtant ils se sont empressés de se pervertir dans tout ce qu’ils faisaient.
8 Wherefore expect me, saith the Lord, in the day of my resurrection that is to come, for my judgment is to assemble the Gentiles, and to gather the kingdoms: and to pour upon them my indignation, all my fierce anger: for with the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be devoured.	8 C’est pourquoi attendez-moi, parole de Yahvé, pour ce jour où je me lèverai en accusateur. Ma sentence est prête: je rassemblerai les nations, je réunirai les royaumes pour déverser sur eux ma fureur et ma violente colère. Tout le pays sera dévoré par le feu de ma jalousie.
9 Because then I will restore to the people a chosen lip, that all may call upon the name of the Lord, and may serve him with one shoulder.	9 Alors je donnerai aux peuples des lèvres pures; tous invoqueront le Nom de Yahvé et le serviront d’un même cœur.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, shall my suppliants the children of my dispersed people bring me an offering.	10 De plus loin que les fleuves d’Éthiopie on m’apportera l’offrande.
11 In that day thou shalt not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee thy proud boasters, and thou shalt no more be lifted up because of my holy mountain.	11 En ce jour-là tu n’auras plus à rougir de tant de péchés que tu commets contre moi, car j’aurai ôté de chez toi les prétentieux qui fanfaronnent, et vous cesserez d’être arrogants jusque sur ma montagne sainte.
12 And I will leave in the midst of thee a poor and needy people: and they shall hope in the name of the Lord.	12 Je laisserai au milieu de toi un peuple humble et pauvre qui mettra sa confiance dans le Nom de Yahvé.
13 The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies, nor shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed, and shall lie down, and there shall be none to make them afraid.	13 Le reste d’Israël ne commettra plus d’injustice; ils ne parleront plus pour tromper, on ne trouvera plus dans leur bouche des paroles mensongères. Alors ils seront comme le troupeau qui broute et prend son repos; nul ne viendra les troubler.
14 Give praise, O daughter of Sion: shout, O Israel: be glad, and rejoice with all thy heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.	14 Pousse des cris de joie, fille de Sion, fais entendre tes acclamations, Israël! Réjouis-toi et que ton cœur soit en fête, fille de Jérusalem!
15 The Lord hath taken away thy judgment, he hath turned away thy enemies: the king of Israel the Lord is in the midst of thee, thou shalt fear evil no more.	15 Car Yahvé a annulé sa sentence contre toi, il a écarté ton ennemi. Yahvé, roi d’Israël, est au milieu de toi, tu ne connaîtras plus le malheur.
16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: Fear not: to Sion: Let not thy hands be weakened.	16 En ce jour-là on dira à Jérusalem: “Ne crains pas, Sion, que tes mains cessent de trembler!
17 The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty, he will save: he will rejoice over thee with gladness, he will be silent in his love, he will be joyful over thee in praise.	17 Yahvé ton Dieu est au milieu de toi, ton vaillant sauveur! Pour toi il se sent fou de joie, son amour te refera toute neuve; pour toi il dansera et criera sa joie
18 The triflers that were departed from the law, I will gather together, because they were of thee: that thou mayest no more suffer reproach for them.	18 comme tu le fais au jour de la Fête.” J’écarterai de toi le malheur et tu ne seras plus humiliée.
19 Behold I will cut off all that have afflicted thee at that time: and I will save her that halteth, and will gather her that was cast out: and I will get them praise, and a name, in all the land where they had been put to confusion.	19 Je ferai disparaître tous ceux qui t’oppriment. En ce temps-là je guérirai l’infirme, je rassemblerai les égarés; ils seront félicités et acclamés dans tous les pays où ils avaient connu la honte.
20 At that time, when I will bring you: and at the time that I will gather you: for I will give you a name, and praise among all the people of the earth, when I shall have brought back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord.	20 En ce temps-là je vous ferai du bien, en ce temps où je vous rassemblerai. Vous serez félicités et enviés par tous les peuples de la terre lorsque, sous vos yeux, je ferai revenir vos dispersés - parole de Yahvé.
