DOUAI-RHEIMS	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 With three things my spirit is pleased, which are approved before God and men:	1 In tre cose s'è compiaciuto l'animo mio, le quali sono laudate dinanzi da Dio e dalli uomini;
2 The concord of brethren, and the love of neighbours, and mall and wife that agree well together.	2 cioè, la concordia de' fratelli, e l'amore del prossimo, e il marito e la moglie che si consentano insieme.
3 Three sorts my soul hateth, and I am greatly grieved at their life:	3 Tre specie di genti ebbe in odio l'anima mia, e sono molto gravato dell' animo di coloro;
4 A poor man that is proud: a rich man that is a liar: an old man that is a fool, and doting.	4 cioè, povero superbo, ricco bugiardo, vecchio pazzo e disensato.
5 The things that thou hast not gathered in thy youth, how shalt thou find them in thy old age?	5 Tu che non radunasti nella giovinezza tua, come troverai nella vecchiezza tua?
6 O how comely is judgment for a grey head, and for ancients to know counsel!	6 Come è bella cosa alla canizie il giudicio, e dell' antico conoscere il consiglio!
7 O how comely is wisdom for the aged, and understanding and counsel to men of honour!	7 E come è bellissima alli antichi la sapienza, e il glorioso intelletto e il consiglio!
8 Much experience is the crown of old men, and the fear of God is their glory.	8 La corona de' vecchi è il molto sapere; e la gloria loro è il timore di Dio.
9 Nine things that are not to be imagined by the heart have I magnified, and the tenth I will utter to men with my tongue.	9 Io magnificai nove cose del cuore da non sospicarle; e la decima cosa diroe nella lingua degli uomini:
10 A man that hath joy of his children: and he that liveth and seeth the fall of his enemies.	10 l' uomo lo quale vivendo s' allegra ne' suoi figliuoli, vedendo la sovversione delli suoi inimici.
11 Blessed is he. that dwelleth with a wise woman, and that hath not slipped with his tongue, and that hath not served such as are unworthy of him.	11 Beato colui che abita colla femina savia, e colui che per la lingua sua non è caduto, e colui che non servì a coloro ch' erano indegni di lui.
12 Blessed is he that findeth a true friend, and that declareth justice to an ear that heareth.	12 Beato colui che ha trovato vero amico, e colui che parla giustizia a colui che l'ascolta.
13 How great is he that findeth wisdom and knowledge! but there is none above him that feareth the Lord.	13 Come è grande colui che trovò sapienza e scienza! ma egli non è maggiore di coloro che temono Iddio.
14 The fear of God hath set itself above all things:	14 Il timore di Dio si puose sopra tutte le cose.
15 Blessed is the man, to whom it is given to have the fear of God: he that holdeth it, to whom shall he be likened?	15 Beato è colui a cui è donato d' avere il timore di Dio; e colui che teme Iddio, a cui sarà egli assomigliato?
16 The fear of God is the beginning of his love: and the beginning of faith is to be fast joined unto it.	16 Lo timore di Dio è il principio del suo amore; ma il principio della fede è proprio a congiugnerlo a lui.
17 The sadness of the heart is every plague: and the wickedness of a woman is all evil.	17 Ogni piaga è tristizia del cuore; e ogni malizia si è riezza della femina.
18 And a man will choose any plague, but the plague of the heart:	18 E vederà ogni piaga, e non piaga del cuore;
19 And ally wickedness, but the wickedness of a woman:	19 e ogni riezza, e non riezza della femina;
20 And any affliction, but the affliction from them that hate him:	20 e ogni rancore, e non rancore di coloro che odiano;
21 And ally revenge, but the revenge of enemies.	21 e ogni vendetta, e non vendetta de' nimici.
22 There is no head worse than the head of a serpent:	22 Non è capo più malvagio, che quello del serpente;
23 And there is no anger above the anger of a woman. It will be more agreeable to abide with a lion and a dragon, than to dwell with a wicked woman.	23 e non è ira sopra l'ira della femina. Più mi piacerebbe di abitare con leoni e draconi, che abitare con femina mala.
24 The wickedness of a woman changeth her face: and she darkeneth her countenance as a bear: and sheweth it like sackcloth. In the midst of her neighbours,	24 La riezza della femina muta la faccia sua, e sì come orso diserta il volto suo, e sì come uno sacco dimostralo. In mezzo delli prossimi suoi
25 Her husband groaned, and hearing he sighed a little.	25 pianse il marito suo, e udendo sospiroe uno poco.
26 All malice is shore to the malice of a woman, let the lot of sinners fall upon her.	26 Ogni malizia è picciola, rispetto alla malizia della femina; la parte de' peccatori caggia sopra lei.
27 As the climbing of a sandy way is to the feet of the aged, so is a wife full of tongue to a quiet man.	27 Come lo salire arenoso è nelli piedi del veterano, così è la femina allinguata all' uomo pacifico.
28 Look not upon a woman's beauty, and desire not a woman for beauty.	28 Non guardare nella bellezza della femina, e non desiderare la femina nella bellezza sua.
29 A woman's anger, and impudence, and confusion is great.	29 L'ira della femina (nella faccia sua) e grande irreverenza e grande confusione.
30 A woman, if she have superiority, is contrary to her husband.	30 La femina, s'ella averae principato, sarà contraria al marito suo.
31 A wicked woman abateth the courage, and maketh a heavy countenance, and a wounded heart.	31 Cuore umile e faccia trista e piaga di morte è la femina malvagia.
32 Feeble hands, and disjointed knees, a woman that doth not make her husband happy.	32 Mano debile, ginocchia dinervate, si è la femina che non beatifica il suo marito.
33 From the woman came the beginning of sin, and by her we all die.	33 Il principio del peccato fu fatto dalla femina, e per lei tutti morremo.
34 Give no issue to thy water, no, not a little: nor to a wicked woman liberty to gad abroad.	34 Non dare all' acqua tua uscita, eziandio poca; nè alla cattiva femina concedere licenza d' uscire fuori.
35 If she walk not at thy hand, she will confound thee in the sight of thy enemies.	35 Se ella non anderae a lato alla tua mano, ella ti confonderae nel conspetto de' tuoi nimici.
36 Cut her off from thy flesh, lest she always abuse thee.	36 Tagliala dalla carne tua, acciò ch' ella non ti usi in mala carne sempre.
