And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | 1 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said, |
Behold, I have called by name Beseleel the son of Uri the son of Hur of the tribe of Juda, | 2 'Look, I have singled out Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, |
And I have filled him with the spirit of God, with wisdom and understanding, and knowledge in all manner of work. | 3 and have filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom, knowledge and skil in every kind of craft: |
To devise whatsoever may be artificially made of gold, and silver, and brass, | 4 in designing and carrying out work in gold and silver and bronze, |
Of marble, and precious stones, and variety of wood. | 5 in cutting stones to be set, in wood carving and in executing every kind of work. |
And I have given him for his companion Ooliab the son of Achisamech of the tribe of Dan. And I have put wisdom in the heart of every skilful man, that they may make all things which I have commanded thee, | 6 And to help him I have given him Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, and have endowedthe hearts of al the skilled men with the skil to make everything I have ordered you: |
The tabernacle of the covenant, and the ark of the testimony, and the propitiatory that is over it, and all the vessels of the tabernacle, | 7 the Tent of Meeting; the ark of the Testimony; the mercy-seat above it; and all the furniture of the tent; |
And the table and the vessels thereof, the most pure candlestick with the vessels thereof, and the altars of incense, | 8 the table and al its accessories; the pure lamp-stand and al its equipment; the altar of incense; |
And of holocaust, and all their vessels, the laver with its foot, | 9 the altar of burnt offerings and al its accessories; the basin and its stand; |
The holy vestments in the ministry for Aaron the priest, and for his sons, that they may execute their office about the sacred things: | 10 the liturgical vestments, the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest, and the vestments for his sons, for their priestly functions; |
The oil of unction, and the incense of spices in the sanctuary, all things which I have commanded thee, shall they make. | 11 the anointing oil and the fragrant incense for the sanctuary. They wil do everything as I have orderedyou.' |
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: | 12 Yahweh then said to Moses, |
Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: See that thou keep my sabbath: because it is a sign between me and you in your generations: that you may know that I am the Lord, who sanctify you. | 13 'Speak to the Israelites and say, "You wil keep my Sabbaths properly, for this is a sign betweenmyself and you for all your generations to come, so that you will know that it is I, Yahweh, who sanctify you. |
Keep you my sabbath: for it is holy unto you: he that shall profane it, shall be put to death: he that shall do my work in it, his soul shall perish out of the midst of his people. | 14 You wil keep the Sabbath, then; you wil regard it as holy. Anyone who profanes it wil be put todeath; anyone who does any work on that day wil be outlawed from his people. |
Six days shall you do work: in the seventh day is the sabbath, the rest holy to the Lord. Every one that shall do any work on this day, shall die. | 15 Work must be done for six days, but the seventh day wil be a day of complete rest, consecrated toYahweh. Anyone who works on the Sabbath day wil be put to death. |
Let the children of Israel keep the sabbath, and celebrate it in their generations. It is an everlasting covenant | 16 The Israelites wil keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath for all their generations to come: this isan eternal covenant. |
Between me and the children of Israel, and a perpetual sign. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and in the seventh he ceased from work. | 17 Between myself and the Israelites, this is a sign for ever, for in six days Yahweh made heaven andearth, but on the seventh day he rested and drew breath." |
And the Lord, when he had ended these words in mount Sinai, gave to Moses two stone tables of testimony, written with the finger of God. | 18 When he had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of theTestimony, tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God. |
