1 Cantico di Maalot. IO ho gridato al Signore, quando sono stato in distretta, Ed egli mi ha risposto.	1 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.
2 O Signore, riscuoti l’anima mia dalle labbra bugiarde, E dalla lingua frodolente.	2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
3 Che ti darà, e che ti aggiungerà La lingua frodolente?	3 What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
4 Ella è simile a saette acute, tratte da un uomo prode; Ovvero anche a brace di ginepro	4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
5 Ahimè! che soggiorno in Mesec, E dimoro presso alle tende di Chedar!	5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!
6 La mia persona è omai assai dimorata Con quelli che odiano la pace.	6 My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.
7 Io sono uomo di pace; ma, quando ne parlo, Essi gridano alla guerra	7 I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
