1 Corintios 1

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Pablo, llamado a ser Apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y el hermano Sóstenes,	1 Paul, called as an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God; and Sosthenes, a brother:
2 saludan a la Iglesia de Dios que reside en Corinto, a los que han sido santificados en Cristo Jesús y llamados a ser santos, junto con todos aquellos que en cualquier parte invocan el nombre de Jesucristo, nuestro Señor, Señor de ellos y nuestro.	2 to the Church of God which is at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints with all who are invoking the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place of theirs and of ours.
3 Llegue a ustedes la gracia y la paz que proceden de Dios, nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo.	3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 No dejo de dar gracias a Dios por ustedes, por la gracia que él les ha concedido en Cristo Jesús.	4 I give thanks to my God continuously for you because of the grace of God that has been given to you in Christ Jesus.
5 En efecto, ustedes han sido colmados en él con toda clase de riquezas, las de la palabra y las del conocimiento,	5 By that grace, in all things, you have become wealthy in him, in every word and in all knowledge.
6 en la medida que el testimonio de Cristo se arraigó en ustedes.	6 And so, the testimony of Christ has been strengthened in you.
7 Por eso, mientras esperan la Revelación de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, no les falta ningún don de la gracia.	7 In this way, nothing is lacking to you in any grace, as you await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
8 El los mantendrá firmes hasta el fin, para que sean irreprochables en el día de la Venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.	8 And he, too, will strengthen you, even until the end, without guilt, until the day of the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Porque Dios es fiel, y él los llamó a vivir en comunión con su Hijo Jesucristo, nuestro Señor.	9 God is faithful. Through him, you have been called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Hermanos, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, yo los exhorto a que se pongan de acuerdo: que no haya divisiones entre ustedes y vivan en perfecta armonía, teniendo la misma manera de pensar y de sentir.	10 And so, I beg you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that every one of you speak in the same way, and that there be no schisms among you. So may you become perfect, with the same mind and with the same judgment.
11 Porque los de la familia de Cloe me han contado que hay discordias entre ustedes.	11 For it has been indicated to me, about you, my brothers, by those who are with Chloes, that there are contentions among you.
12 Me refiero a que cada uno afirma: «Yo soy de Pablo, yo de Apolo, yo de Cefas, yo de Cristo».	12 Now I say this because each of you is saying: “Certainly, I am of Paul;” “But I am of Apollo;” “Truly, I am of Cephas;” as well as: “I am of Christ.”
13 ¿Acaso Cristo está dividido? ¿O es que Pablo fue crucificado por ustedes? ¿O será que ustedes fueron bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?	13 Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 Felizmente yo no he bautizado a ninguno de ustedes, excepto a Crispo y a Gayo.	14 I give thanks to God that I have baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 Así nadie puede decir que ha sido bautizado en mi nombre.	15 lest anyone say that you have been baptized in my name.
16 Sí, también he bautizado a la familia de Estéfanas, pero no recuerdo haber bautizado a nadie más.	16 And I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Other than these, I do not recall if I baptized any others.
17 Porque Cristo no me envió a bautizar, sino a anunciar la Buena Noticia, y esto sin recurrir a la elocuencia humana, para que la cruz de Cristo no pierda su eficacia.	17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to evangelize: not through the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ become empty.
18 El mensaje de la cruz es una locura para los que se pierden, pero para los que se salvan –para nosotros– es fuerza de Dios.	18 For the Word of the Cross is certainly foolishness to those who are perishing. But to those who have been saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God.
19 Porque está escrito: "Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios y rechazaré la ciencia de los inteligentes".	19 For it has been written: “I will perish the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the discernment of the prudent.”
20 ¿Dónde está el sabio? ¿Dónde el hombre culto? ¿Dónde el razonador sutil de este mundo? ¿Acaso Dios no ha demostrado que la sabiduría del mundo es una necedad?	20 Where are the wise? Where are the scribes? Where are the truth-seekers of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of this world into foolishness?
21 En efecto, ya que el mundo, con su sabiduría, no reconoció a Dios en las obras que manifiestan su sabiduría, Dios quiso salvar a los que creen por la locura de la predicación.	21 For the world did not know God through wisdom, and so, in the wisdom of God, it pleased God to accomplish the salvation of believers, through the foolishness of our preaching.
22 Mientras los judíos piden milagros y los griegos van en busca de sabiduría,	22 For the Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom.
23 nosotros, en cambio, predicamos a un Cristo crucificado, escándalo para los judíos y locura para los paganos,	23 But we are preaching Christ crucified. Certainly, to the Jews, this is a scandal, and to the Gentiles, this is foolishness.
24 pero fuerza y sabiduría de Dios para los que han sido llamados, tanto judíos como griegos.	24 But to those who have been called, Jews as well as Greeks, the Christ is the virtue of God and the wisdom of God.
25 Porque la locura de Dios es más sabia que la sabiduría de los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que la fortaleza de los hombres.	25 For what is foolishness to God is considered wise by men, and that which is weakness to God is considered strong by men.
26 Hermanos, tengan en cuenta quiénes son los que han sido llamados: no hay entre ustedes muchos sabios, hablando humanamente, ni son muchos los poderosos ni los nobles.	26 So take care of your vocation, brothers. For not many are wise according to the flesh, not many are powerful, not many are noble.
27 Al contrario, Dios eligió lo que el mundo tiene por necio, para confundir a los sabios; lo que el mundo tiene por débil, para confundir a los fuertes;	27 But God has chosen the foolish of the world, so that he may confound the wise. And God has chosen the weak of the world, so that he may confound the strong.
28 lo que es vil y despreciable y lo que no vale nada, para aniquilar a lo que vale.	28 And God has chosen the ignoble and contemptible of the world, those who are nothing, so that he may reduce to nothing those who are something.
29 Así, nadie podrá gloriarse delante de Dios.	29 So then, nothing that is of the flesh should glory in his sight.
30 Por él, ustedes están unidos a Cristo Jesús, que por disposición de Dios, se convirtió para nosotros en sabiduría y justicia, en santificación y redención,	30 But you are of him in Christ Jesus, who was made by God to be our wisdom and justice and sanctification and redemption.
31 a fin de que, como está escrito: "El que se gloría, que se gloríe en el Señor".	31 And so, in the same way, it was written: “Whoever glories, should glory in the Lord.”
