Zacarías 7

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El cuarto año del rey Darío, el día cuatro del noveno mes, el mes de Quisleu,	1 In the fourth year of King Darius, the word of Yahweh was addressed to Zechariah on the fourth day ofthe ninth month, the month of Chislev.
2 Betel Saréser, gran mago del rey, y sus hombres enviaron una delegación para aplacar el rostro del Señor	2 Bethel sent Sharezer with a deputation to entreat Yahweh's favour
3 y preguntar a los sacerdotes de la Casa del Señor de los ejércitos y a los profetas: «¿Debo seguir llorando e imponiéndome privaciones en el quinto mes, como lo he hecho durante tantos años?».	3 and to ask the priests in the Temple of Yahweh Sabaoth and the prophets, 'Ought I to go on mourningand fasting in the fifth month as I have been doing for so many years past?'
4 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:	4 Then the word of Yahweh Sabaoth was addressed to me as fol ows,
5 Habla a todo el pueblo del país y a los sacerdotes, diciéndoles: Si ustedes han ayunado y se han lamentado en el quinto y el séptimo mes desde hace setenta años, ¿es por mí que han practicado esos ayunos?	5 'Say to al the people of the country and to the priests, "While you have been fasting and mourning inthe fifth and seventh months for the past seventy years, have you real y been fasting for my sake?
6 Y cuando comen y beben ¿no lo hacen por ustedes mismos?	6 And when you were eating and drinking, were you not eating and drinking for your own sake?
7 ¿No son estas las palabras que proclamó el Señor por intermedio de los antiguos profetas, cuando Jerusalén estaba habitada y tranquila, rodeada de sus ciudades, y estaban poblados el Négueb y la Sefelá?	7 Do you not know the words which Yahweh proclaimed through the prophets in the past, whenJerusalem was inhabited and secure, as were her surrounding towns, and when the Negeb and the lowlandswere inhabited?" ' (
8 La palabra del Señor llegó a Zacarías en estos términos:	8 The word of Yahweh was addressed to Zechariah as fol ows,
9 Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: Hagan justicia de verdad, practiquen mutuamente la fidelidad y la misericordia.	9 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this.) He said, "Apply the law fairly, and show faithful love and compassion towards one another.
10 No opriman a la viuda ni al huérfano, al extranjero ni al pobre, y no piensen en hacerse mal unos a otros.	10 Do not oppress the widow and the orphan, the foreigner and the poor, and do not secretly plan evilagainst one another."
11 Pero ellos no quisieron hacer caso: se mostraron rebeldes y endurecieron sus oídos para no oír;	11 But they would not listen; they turned a rebel ious shoulder; they stopped their ears rather than hear;
12 endurecieron su corazón como el diamante para no escuchar la instrucción y las palabras que el Señor de los ejércitos les había dirigido por su espíritu, por intermedio de los antiguos profetas. Entonces el Señor de los ejércitos se irritó profundamente.	12 they made their hearts adamant rather than listen to the teaching and the words that Yahweh Sabaothhad sent -- by his spirit -- through the prophets in the past; and consequently the fury of Yahweh Sabaothovertook them.
13 Y sucedió lo siguiente: Así como él llamaba y ellos no escuchaban, así también ellos llamarán y yo no escucharé, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.	13 And so, since when he cal ed they would not listen, "I would not listen when they called", says YahwehSabaoth,
14 Yo los esparcía como un torbellino por todas las naciones que ellos no conocían, y el país fue devastado detrás de ellos, sin que nadie fuera ni volviera. De una tierra de delicias, ellos hicieron una desolación.	14 "but scattered them among al the nations unknown to them. Hence, after they had gone, the countrywas deserted, and no one came or went. They had turned a land of delights into a desert." '
