EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Manasés tenía doce años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cincuenta y cinco años en Jerusalén.	1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for fifty-five years inJerusalem.
2 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, siguiendo las costumbres abominables de las naciones que el Señor había desposeído delante de los israelitas.	2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, copying the disgusting practices of the nations whom Yahwehhad dispossessed for the Israelites.
3 Reedificó los lugares altos que había derribado su padre Ezequías; erigió altares a los Baales, hizo postes sagrados, y se postró delante de todo el Ejército de los cielos y lo sirvió.	3 He rebuilt the high places which his father Hezekiah had demolished, he set up altars to Baal andmade sacred poles, he worshipped the whole array of heaven and served it.
4 Edificó altares en la Casa del Señor, de la que el mismo Señor había dicho: «En Jerusalén estará mi Nombre para siempre».	4 He built altars in the Temple of Yahweh, of which Yahweh had said, 'My name wil be in Jerusalem forever.'
5 Edificó altares a todo el Ejército de los cielos en los dos atrios de la Casa del Señor.	5 He built altars to the whole array of heaven in the two courts of the Temple of Yahweh.
6 Inmoló a sus propios hijos en el fuego, en el valle de Ben Hinnóm, practicó la astrología, la magia y la hechicería, e instituyó nigromantes y adivinos. Persistió en hacer lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, provocando su indignación.	6 He caused his sons to pass through the fire of sacrifice in the Val ey of Ben-Hinnom. He practisedsoothsaying, divination and sorcery, and had dealings with mediums and spirit-guides. He did very many morethings displeasing to Yahweh, thus provoking his anger.
7 La estatua del Idolo que había hecho, la instaló en la Casa de Dios, de la que el mismo Dios había dicho a David y a su hijo Salomón: «En esta Casa y en Jerusalén, que yo elegí entre todas las tribus de Israel, pondré mi Nombre para siempre.	7 He put a sculpted image, an idol which he had had made, inside the Temple of which God had said toDavid and his son Solomon, 'In this Temple and in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of al the tribes ofIsrael, I shal put my name for ever.
8 Ya no permitiré que Israel ande errante lejos del suelo que destiné a sus padres, con tal que se empeñen en practicar todo lo que les he mandado, de acuerdo con la Ley, los preceptos y las normas, transmitidos por Moisés».	8 Nor shal I ever again remove Israel's foot from the soil on which I established your ancestors oncondition that they were careful to observe al I commanded them as laid down in the whole Law, the statutesand the ordinances, given through Moses.'
9 Manasés extravió a Judá y a los habitantes de Jerusalén, a tal punto que obraron peor que las naciones que el Señor había exterminado delante de los israelitas.	9 But Manasseh misled Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into doing worse things than the nationswhich Yahweh had destroyed for the Israelites.
10 El señor habló a Manasés y a su pueblo, pero ellos no le prestaron atención.	10 When Yahweh spoke to Manasseh and his people, they would not listen.
11 Entonces el Señor hizo venir contra ellos a los jefes del ejército del rey de Asiria, y estos capturaron a Manasés con garfios, lo sujetaron con doble cadena de bronce y lo llevaron a Babilonia.	11 Yahweh then brought down on them the generals of the king of Assyria's army who capturedManasseh with hooks, put him in chains and took him to Babylon.
12 En medio de su angustia él aplacó al Señor, su Dios, humillándose profundamente delante del Dios de sus padres.	12 While in his distress, he placated Yahweh his God by genuinely humbling himself before the God ofhis ancestors.
13 Le suplicó, y el Señor lo escuchó benignamente: oyó su plegaria lo hizo volver a su reino, en Jerusalén. Así reconoció Manasés que el Señor es Dios.	13 When he prayed to him, he was moved by his entreaty, heard his supplication and brought him backto Jerusalem to his kingdom. Manasseh realised then that Yahweh is God.
14 Después de esto, construyó una muralla exterior a la Ciudad de David, al oeste del Guijón, en el valle, hasta la puerta de los Peces, rodeando el Ofel, y la hizo muy alta. Además, puso jefes militares en todas las ciudades fuertes de Judá.	14 Afterwards, he rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David, to the west of Gihon, in the val ey, up to theFish Gate and round the Ophel, and made it very much higher. And he stationed military governors in al thefortified towns of Judah.
15 Luego retiró de la Casa del Señor los dioses extranjeros y el Idolo. Hizo lo mismo con todos los altares que él mismo había erigido en la montaña de la Casa del Señor y en Jerusalén, arrojándolos fuera de la ciudad.	15 He also removed the foreign gods and the idol from the Temple of Yahweh, as well as all the altarswhich he had built on the mountain of the Temple of Yahweh and in Jerusalem, and threw them out of the city.
16 Restauró el altar del Señor e inmoló sobre él sacrificios de comunión y de acción de gracias, y ordenó que Judá sirviera al Señor, el Dios de Israel.	16 He repaired the altar of Yahweh and offered communion sacrifices and thanksgiving offerings on it,and commanded Judah to serve Yahweh, God of Israel.
17 El pueblo, sin embargo, continuaba ofreciendo sacrificios en los lugares altos, aunque sólo el Señor, su Dios.	17 The people, however, went on sacrificing at the high places, although only to Yahweh their God.
18 El resto de los hechos de Manasés, la oración hecha a su Dios y las palabras de los videntes que le hablaron en nombre del Señor, el Dios de Israel, están escritos en los Anales de los reyes de Israel.	18 The rest of the history of Manasseh, his prayer to his God, and the prophecies of the seers whospoke to him in the name of Yahweh, God of Israel, can be found in the Annals of the Kings of Israel.
19 Su plegaria y cómo fue escuchado, todo su pecado y su prevaricación, los sitios donde edificó lugares altos y erigió postes sagrados e ídolos, antes de humillarse, están escritos en las Memorias de Jozai.	19 His prayer and how God was moved by his entreaty, all his sins, his infidelity, the sites where he builthigh places and set up sacred poles and idols before humbling himself, are set down in the records of Hozai.
20 Manasés se fue a descansar con sus padres, y lo sepultaron a su casa. Su hijo Amón reinó en lugar de él.	20 Then Manasseh fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the garden of his palace. His sonAmon succeeded him.
21 Amón tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dos años en Jerusalén.	21 Amon was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for two years inJerusalem.
22 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, como lo había hecho su padre Manasés. Ofreció sacrificios y sirvió a todos los ídolos que había hecho su padre Manasés.	22 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as his father Manasseh had done, for Amon sacrificed to althe images which his father Manasseh had made, and served them.
23 Pero no se humilló delante del Señor, como se había humillado su padre Manasés, sino que multiplicó sus culpas.	23 He did not humble himself before Yahweh as his father Manasseh had done; on the contrary, Amonwilfully added to his guilt.
24 Sus servidores conspiraron contra él y lo mataron en su palacio.	24 His retinue plotted against him and killed him in his own palace.
25 Pero el pueblo del país mató a todos los que habían conspirado contra el rey Amón, y el mismo pueblo proclamó rey en lugar de él a su hijo Josías.	25 The people of the country, however, slaughtered al those who had plotted against King Amon andproclaimed his son Josiah as his successor.
