BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ahora bien, vosotros, ricos, llorad y dad alaridos por las desgracias que están para caer sobre vosotros.	1 Well now, you rich! Lament, weep for the miseries that are coming to you.
2 Vuestra riqueza está podrida y vuestros vestidos están apolillados;	2 Your wealth is rotting, your clothes are al moth-eaten.
3 vuestro oro y vuestra plata están tomados de herrumbre y su herrumbre será testimonio contra vosotros y devorará vuestras carnes como fuego. Habéis acumulado riquezas en estos días que son los últimos.	3 Al your gold and your silver are corroding away, and the same corrosion wil be a witness against youand eat into your body. It is like a fire which you have stored up for the final days.
4 Mirad; el salario que no habéis pagado a los obreros que segaron vuestros campos está gritando; y los gritos de los segadores han llegado a los oídos del Señor de los ejércitos.	4 Can you hear crying out against you the wages which you kept back from the labourers mowing yourfields? The cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord Sabaoth.
5 Habéis vivido sobre la tierra regaladamente y os habéis entregado a los placeres; habéis hartado vuestros corazones en el día de la matanza.	5 On earth you have had a life of comfort and luxury; in the time of slaughter you went on eating to yourheart's content.
6 Condenasteis y matasteis al justo; él no os resiste.	6 It was you who condemned the upright and killed them; they offered you no resistance.
7 Tened, pues, paciencia, hermanos, hasta la Venida del Señor. Mirad: el labrador espera el fruto precioso de la tierra aguardándolo con paciencia hasta recibir las lluvias tempranas y tardías.	7 Now be patient, brothers, until the Lord's coming. Think of a farmer: how patiently he waits for theprecious fruit of the ground until it has had the autumn rains and the spring rains!
8 Tened también vosotros paciencia; fortaleced vuestros corazones porque la Venida del Señor está cerca.	8 You too must be patient; do not lose heart, because the Lord's coming will be soon.
9 No os quejéis, hermanos, unos de otros para no ser juzgados; mirad que el Juez está ya a las puertas.	9 Do not make complaints against one another, brothers, so as not to be brought to judgementyourselves; the Judge is already to be seen waiting at the gates.
10 Tomad, hermanos, como modelo de sufrimiento y de paciencia a los profetas, que hablaron en nombre del Señor.	10 For your example, brothers, in patiently putting up with persecution, take the prophets who spoke inthe Lord's name;
11 Mirad cómo proclamamos felices a los que sufrieron con paciencia. Habéis oído la paciencia de Job en el sufrimiento y sabéis el final que el Señor le dio; porque el Señor es compasivo y misericordioso.	11 remember it is those who had perseverance that we say are the blessed ones. You have heard of theperseverance of Job and understood the Lord's purpose, realising that the Lord is kind and compassionate.
12 Ante todo, hermanos, no juréis ni por el cielo ni por la tierra, ni por ningún otra cosa. Que vuestro sí sea sí, y el no, no; para no incurrir en juicio.	12 Above al , my brothers, do not swear by heaven or by the earth or use any oaths at al . If you mean'yes', you must say 'yes'; if you mean 'no', say 'no'. Otherwise you make yourselves liable to judgement.
13 ¿Sufre alguno entre vosotros? Que ore. ¿Está alguno alegre? Que cante salmos.	13 Any one of you who is in trouble should pray; anyone in good spirits should sing a psalm.
14 ¿Está enfermo alguno entre vosotros? Llame a los presbíteros de la Iglesia, que oren sobre él y le unjan con óleo en el nombre del Señor.	14 Any one of you who is il should send for the elders of the church, and they must anoint the sickperson with oil in the name of the Lord and pray over him.
15 Y la oración de la fe salvará al enfermo, y el Señor hará que se levante, y si hubiera cometido pecados, le serán perdonados.	15 The prayer of faith will save the sick person and the Lord wil raise him up again; and if he hascommitted any sins, he wil be forgiven.
16 Confesaos, pues, mutuamente vuestros pecados y orad los unos por los otros, para que seáis curados. La oración ferviente del justo tiene mucho poder.	16 So confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another to be cured; the heartfelt prayer ofsomeone upright works very powerful y.
17 Elías era un hombre de igual condición que nosotros; oró insistentemente para que no lloviese, y no llovió sobre la tierra durante tres años y seis meses.	17 Elijah was a human being as frail as ourselves -- he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and no rain felfor three and a half years;
18 Después oró de nuevo y el cielo dio lluvia y la tierra produjo su fruto.	18 then he prayed again and the sky gave rain and the earth gave crops.
19 Si alguno de vosotros, hermanos míos, se desvía de la verdad y otro le convierte,	19 My brothers, if one of you strays away from the truth, and another brings him back to it,
20 sepa que el que convierte a un pecador de su camino desviado, salvará su alma de la muerte y cubrirá multitud de pecados.	20 he may be sure that anyone who can bring back a sinner from his erring ways wil be saving his soulfrom death and covering over many a sin.
