Salmos 107

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ¡Aleluya! Dad gracias a Yahveh, porque es bueno, porque es eterno su amor.	1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, his faithful love lasts for ever.
2 Que lo digan los redimidos de Yahveh, los que él ha redimido del poder del adversario,	2 So let them say whom Yahweh redeemed, whom he redeemed from the power of their enemies,
3 los que ha reunido de entre los países, de oriente y de poniente, del norte y mediodía.	3 bringing them back from foreign lands, from east and west, north and south.
4 En el desierto erraban, por la estepa, no encontraban camino de ciudad habitada;	4 They were wandering in the desert, in the wastelands, could find no way to an inhabited city;
5 hambrientos, y sedientos, desfallecía en ellos su alma.	5 they were hungry and thirsty, their life was ebbing away.
6 Y hacia Yahveh gritaron en su apuro, y él los libró de sus angustias,	6 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,
7 les condujo por camino recto, hasta llegar a ciudad habitada.	7 he set them on the road, straight to an inhabited city.
8 ¡Den gracias a Yahveh por su amor, por sus prodigios con los hijos de Adán!	8 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!
9 Porque él sació el alma anhelante, el alma hambrienta saturó de bienes.	9 He has fed the hungry to their hearts' content, filled the starving with good things.
10 Habitantes de tiniebla y sombra, cautivos de la miseria y de los hierros,	10 Sojourners in gloom and shadow dark as death, fettered in misery and chains,
11 por haber sido rebeldes a las órdenes de Dios y haber despreciado el consejo del Altísimo,	11 for defying the orders of Yahweh, for scorning the plan of the Most High-
12 él sometió su corazón a la fatiga, sucumbían, y no había quien socorriera.	12 he subdued their spirit by hard labour; if they fel there was no one to help.
13 Y hacia Yahveh gritaron en su apuro, y él los salvó de sus angustias,	13 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,
14 los sacó de la tiniebla y de la sombra, y rompió sus cadenas.	14 he brought them out from gloom and shadow dark as death, and shattered their chains.
15 ¡Den gracias a Yahveh por su amor, por sus prodigios con los hijos de Adán!	15 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!
16 Pues las puertas de bronce quebrantó, y los barrotes de hierro hizo pedazos.	16 He broke open gates of bronze and smashed iron bars.
17 Embotados de resultas de sus yerros, miserables a causa de sus culpas,	17 Fools for their rebellious ways, wretched because of their sins,
18 todo manjar les daba náusea, tocaban ya a las puertas de la muerte.	18 finding all food repugnant, brought close to the gates of death-
19 Y hacia Yahveh gritaron en su apuro, y él los salvó de sus angustias;	19 they cried out to Yahweh in their distress; he rescued them from their plight,
20 su palabra envió para sanarlos y arrancar sus vidas de la fosa.	20 he sent out his word and cured them, and rescued their life from the abyss.
21 ¡Den gracias a Yahveh por su amor, por sus prodigios con los hijos de Adán!	21 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!
22 Ofrezcan sacrificios de acción de gracias, y sus obras pregonen con gritos de alegría.	22 Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, and recount with shouts of joy what he has done!
23 Los que a la mar se hicieron en sus naves, llevando su negocio por las muchas aguas,	23 Voyagers on the sea in ships, plying their trade on the great ocean,
24 vieron las obras de Yahveh, sus maravillas en el piélago.	24 have seen the works of Yahweh, his wonders in the deep.
25 Dijo, y suscitó un viento de borrasca, que entumeció las olas;	25 By his word he raised a storm-wind, lashing up towering waves.
26 subiendo hasta los cielos, bajando hasta el abismo, bajo el peso del mal su alma se hundía;	26 Up to the sky then down to the depths! Their stomachs were turned to water;
27 dando vuelcos, vacilando como un ebrio, tragada estaba toda su pericia.	27 they staggered and reeled like drunkards, and al their skill went under.
28 Y hacia Yahveh gritaron en su apuro, y él los sacó de sus angustias;	28 They cried out to Yahweh in their distress, he rescued them from their plight,
29 a silencio redujo la borrasca, y las olas callaron.	29 he reduced the storm to a calm, and al the waters subsided,
30 Se alegraron de verlas amansarse, y él los llevó hasta el puerto deseado.	30 and he brought them, overjoyed at the stillness, to the port where they were bound.
31 ¡Den gracias a Yahveh por su amor, por sus prodigios con los hijos de Adán!	31 Let them thank Yahweh for his faithful love, for his wonders for the children of Adam!
32 ¡Ensálcenle en la asamblea del pueblo, en el concejo de los ancianos le celebren!	32 Let them extol him in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the council of elders.
33 El cambia los ríos en desierto, y en suelo de sed los manantiales,	33 He has turned rivers into desert, bubbling springs into arid ground,
34 la tierra fértil en salinas, por la malicia de sus habitantes.	34 fertile country into salt-flats, because the people living there were evil.
35 Y él cambia el desierto en un estanque, y la árida tierra en manantial.	35 But he has turned desert into stretches of water, arid ground into bubbling springs,
36 Allí asienta a los hambrientos, y ellos fundan una ciudad habitada.	36 and has given the hungry a home, where they have built themselves a city.
37 Y siembran campos, plantan viñas, que producen sus frutos de cosecha.	37 There they sow fields and plant vines, and reap a harvest of their produce.
38 El los bendice y crecen mucho y no deja que mengüen sus ganados.	38 He blesses them and their numbers increase, he keeps their cattle at full strength.
39 Menguados estaban, y abatidos por la tenaza del mal y la aflicción.	39 Their numbers had fal en, they had grown weak, under pressure of disaster and hardship;
40 El que vierte desprecio sobre príncipes, los hacía errar por caos sin camino.	40 he covered princes in contempt, left them to wander in trackless wastes.
41 Mas él recobra de la miseria al pobre, aumenta como un rebaño las familias;	41 But the needy he raises from their misery, makes their families as numerous as sheep.
42 los hombres rectos lo ven y se recrean, y toda iniquidad cierra su boca.	42 At the sight the honest rejoice, and the wicked have nothing to say.
43 ¿Hay algún sabio? ¡Que garde estas cosas, y comprenda el amor de Yahveh!	43 Who is wise? Such a one should take this to heart, and come to understand Yahweh's faithful love.
