1 En ce jour-là, avec son épée dure, grande et forte, Yahvé s’en prendra à Léviathan, le serpent fuyard, Léviathan, le serpent perfide; il tuera le dragon qui est dans la mer.	1 On that day, The LORD will punish with his sword that is cruel, great, and strong, Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan the coiled serpent; and he will slay the dragon that is in the sea.
2 En ce jour-là vous direz: Chantez la vigne magnifique!	2 On that day-- The pleasant vineyard, sing about it!
3 “Moi, Yahvé, j’en suis le gardien, sans cesse je l’arrose de peur que son feuillage ne tombe; nuit et jour je la garde.”	3 I, the LORD, am its keeper, I water it every moment; Lest anyone harm it, night and day I guard it.
4 “Je n’ai pas de clôture: d’où me viennent ces épines et ces ronces?” “Je leur ferai la guerre et les brûlerai toutes ensemble	4 I am not angry, but if I were to find briers and thorns, In battle I should march against them; I should burn them all.
5 à moins qu’on se range sous ma tutelle et qu’on fasse la paix avec moi. Il faudra faire la paix avec moi.”	5 Or shall he cling to me for refuge? He must make peace with me; peace shall he make with me!
6 Dans l’avenir Jacob poussera des racines, Israël aura des bourgeons et des fleurs et ses fruits couvriront la face de la terre.	6 In days to come Jacob shall take root, Israel shall sprout and blossom, covering all the world with fruit.
7 Yahvé ne l’a pas frappé comme il a frappé ceux qui l’opprimaient, il ne l’a pas exterminé comme il a fait pour ceux qui le massacraient.	7 Is he to be smitten as his smiter was smitten? or slain as his slayer was slain?
8 Il a pris à partie cette ville, il l’a vidée en les chassant par son souffle violent comme un jour de vent d’orient.	8 Expunging and expelling, I should strive against them, carrying them off with my cruel wind in time of storm.
9 Mais voici comment sera pardonnée la faute de Jacob, comment il effacera les traces de son péché: il devra mettre en pièces les autels, en écraser les pierres comme la pierre à chaux et ne laisser debout ni les idoles, ni les autels à parfums.	9 This, then, shall be the expiation of Jacob's guilt, this the whole fruit of the removal of his sin: He shall pulverize all the stones of the altars like pieces of chalk; no sacred poles or incense altars shall stand.
10 La ville fortifiée est une solitude, une demeure abandonnée, inhabitée comme un désert; le veau en a fait sa pâture, il s’y couche et broute le feuillage.	10 For the fortified city shall be desolate, an abandoned pasture, a forsaken wilderness, where calves shall browse and lie. Its boughs shall be destroyed,
11 On brise les branches desséchées, puis les femmes viennent y mettre le feu. C’est que ce peuple est sans intelligence, c’est pourquoi son créateur n’a pas pitié de lui; celui qui l’a façonné ne l’épargne pas.	11 its branches shall wither and be broken off, and women shall come to build a fire with them. This is not an understanding people; therefore their maker shall not spare them, nor shall he who formed them have mercy on them.
12 Cependant le jour viendra où Yahvé battra les épis depuis le Fleuve jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte, et vous, fils d’Israël, vous serez ramassés un par un.	12 On that day, The LORD shall beat out the grain between the Euphrates and the Wadi of Egypt, and you shall be gleaned one by one, O sons of Israel.
13 En ce jour-là la corne sonnera, les déportés d’Assyrie reviendront avec les exilés en terre d’Égypte; ils viendront se prosterner devant Yahvé, sur la montagne sainte à Jérusalem.	13 On that day, A great trumpet shall blow, and the lost in the land of Assyria and the outcasts in the land of Egypt Shall come and worship the LORD on the holy mountain, in Jerusalem.
