2 Une femme vaillante fait la joie de son mari, il connaîtra la paix tous les jours de sa vie.	2 A good wife delights her husband, and she will fill up the years of his life with peace.
3 Une bonne épouse est le gros lot, elle reviendra à celui qui craint le Seigneur.	3 A good wife is a good portion. She will be given the portion of those who fear God, like a man who has done good deeds.
4 Riche ou pauvre, il aura le cœur content; à tout moment l’on verra son bonheur sur son visage.	4 But, rich or poor, with a good heart, his countenance will be cheerful at all times.
5 Il y a trois choses que je redoute, et une quatrième qui m’effraie: une calomnie répandue dans l’entourage, une foule en révolte et une accusation fausse; tout cela est pire que la mort.	5 Of three things, my heart has been afraid, and at a fourth, my face has shown dread:

10 Tiens en laisse une fille hardie, elle profiterait de ta complaisance.	10 Like a yoke of oxen being provoked, so also is a wicked wife. He who has hold of her is like one who has taken hold of a scorpion.
11 Garde-toi de suivre la femme séduisante; ne te fais pas d’illusions: elle veut t’avoir.	11 An inebriated wife is a great wrath. And her disgrace and indecency will not be covered.
12 Le voyageur assoiffé ouvre la bouche à toute eau qui se présente: elle aussi s’assied face à n’importe quel piquet, à toute flèche elle ouvre son carquois.	12 The fornication of a wife will become known by the haughtiness of her eyes and by her eyelids.
13 La grâce d’une femme réjouit son mari, mais son savoir faire le réconforte jusqu’à la moelle des os.	13 So that her daughter will not also turn away, keep a strict watch; otherwise, having found an opportunity, she may enjoy herself.
14 Une femme qui sait se taire est un don du Seigneur, rien n’est comparable à celle qui est bien éduquée.	14 Be wary of the irreverence of her eyes, and you should not wonder if she might disregard you.
15 La femme pudique est doublement charmante, celle qui est chaste est un trésor inestimable.	15 Like a thirsty traveler, she will open her mouth to the fountain, and she will drink from every water nearby, and she will sit down beside every fencepost, and she will open her quiver to every arrow, until she becomes weary.
16 Comme le soleil levant sur les montagnes du Seigneur, tel est le charme d’une bonne épouse dans une maison bien tenue.	16 The grace of an attentive wife will delight her husband, and will fatten his bones.
17 Comme la lampe qui brille sur le lampadaire sacré, tel est un beau visage sur un corps harmonieux.	17 Her discipline is a gift from God.
18 Comme des colonnes d’or sur un socle d’argent, telles sont de belles jambes sur des talons bien plantés.	18 Such is an understanding and quiet wife. For there is no substitution for a well-instructed soul.

28 Pour deux choses je m’afflige, pour une troisième la colère me prend: un homme de guerre réduit à la misère, des gens sensés que l’on méprise, celui enfin qui passe d’une vie droite au péché; le Seigneur le destine à périr par l’épée.	28 Two kinds of things have seemed difficult and dangerous to me: a merchant will not be easily freed from his negligence, and a shopkeeper will not be justified by the sins of his lips.
