לָכֵן אֲנִי מֵעִיד בְּךָ נֶגֶד הָאֱלֹהִים וְנֶגֶד אֲדֹנֵינוּ יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ הַבָּא לִשְׁפֹּט אֶת־הַחַיִּים וְאֶת־הַמֵּתִים בְּהוֹפָעָתוֹ וּבְמַלְכוּתוֹ | 1 Before God and before Christ Jesus who is to be judge of the living and the dead, I charge you, in thename of his appearing and of his kingdom: |
הַכְרֵז אֶת־הַדָּבָר וְהַתְמֵד בֵּין בְּעִתּוֹ בֵּין שֶׁלֹּא בְעִתּוֹ הוֹכַח וּגְעַר וְהַזְהֵר בְּכָל־אֹרֶךְ־רוּחַ וְהוֹרָאָה | 2 proclaim the message and, welcome or unwelcome, insist on it. Refute falsehood, correct error, giveencouragement -- but do all with patience and with care to instruct. |
כִּי־בוֹא תָבֹא הָעֵת אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יָכִילוּ אֶת־הַלֶּקַח הַבָּרִיא כִּי אִם־כְּאַוַּת נַפְשָׁם יִקְבְּצוּ לָהֶם מוֹרִים לְשַׁעֲשֻׁעֵי אָזְנָיִם | 3 The time is sure to come when people wil not accept sound teaching, but their ears wil be itching foranything new and they wil col ect themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes; |
וְיַטּוּ אָזְנֵיהֶם מִן־הָאֱמֶת וְיִפְנוּ אֶל־הַהַגָּדוֹת | 4 and then they will shut their ears to the truth and wil turn to myths. |
אֲבָל אַתָּה הֱיֵה עֵר בַּכֹּל סְבֹל הָרָעוֹת וַעֲשֵׂה מְלֶאכֶת הַמְבַשֵּׂר וּמַלֵּא אֶת־שֵׁרוּתֶךָ | 5 But you must keep steady al the time; put up with suffering; do the work of preaching the gospel; fulfilthe service asked of you. |

וּמֵעַתָּה שָׁמוּר לִי כֶּתֶר הַצְּדָקָה אֲשֶׁר בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא יִתְּנֶנּוּ לִי הָאָדוֹן הַשֹּׁפֵט הַצַּדִּיק וְלֹא־לִי לְבַדִּי כִּי־גַם לְכָל־אֹהֲבֵי הוֹפָעָתוֹ | 8 al there is to come for me now is the crown of uprightness which the Lord, the upright judge, wil give tome on that Day; and not only to me but to al those who have longed for his appearing. |
חוּשָׁה לָבוֹא אֵלַי בִּמְהֵרָה | 9 Make every effort to come and see me as soon as you can. |
כִּי־דִימָס עֲזָבַנִי בְּאַהֲבָתוֹ אֶת־הָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה וַיֵּלֶךְ־לוֹ לְתַסְלוֹנִיקִי וּקְרִיסְקִיס הָלַךְ לְגָלַטְיָא וְטִיטוֹס לְדַלְמָטְיָא | 10 As it is, Demas has deserted me for love of this life and gone to Thessalonica, Crescens has gone toGalatia and Titus to Dalmatia; |

אֶת־הַמְּעִיל שֶׁהִנַּחְתִּי בִטְרוֹאַס אֵצֶל קַרְפּוֹס הֲבִיאֶהוּ אִתְּךָ בְּבוֹאֶךָ וְאַף אֶת־הַסְּפָרִים וּבִפְרָט אֶת־הַמְּגִלּוֹת שֶׁל־קְלָף | 13 When you come, bring the cloak I left with Carpus in Troas, and the scrol s, especially the parchmentones. |
14 Alexander the coppersmith has done me a lot of harm; the Lord wil repay him as his deeds deserve. |
וְגַם־אַתָּה הִשָּׁמֶר־לְךָ מִמֶּנּוּ כִּי־מָרוֹ מָרָה אֶת־דְּבָרֵינוּ | 15 Be on your guard against him yourself, because he has been bitterly contesting everything that we say. |
בְּהִצְטַדְּקוּתִי הָרִאשׁוֹנָה לֹא־הָיָה אִישׁ לְעָזְרֵנִי כִּי־כֻלָּם עֲזָבוּנִי אַל־יֵחָשֵׁב לָהֶם עָוֺן | 16 The first time I had to present my defence, no one came into court to support me. Every one of themdeserted me -- may they not be held accountable for it. |
אֲבָל הָאָדוֹן הוּא עֲזָרַנִי וְחִזְּקַנִי לְמַעַן תֻּשְׁלַם עַל־יָדִי הַבְּשׂוֹרָה וְיִשְׁמָעוּהָ כָּל־הַגּוֹיִם וָאֶנָּצֵל מִפִּי אַרְיֵה | 17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me power, so that through me the message might be ful yproclaimed for al the gentiles to hear; and so I was saved from the lion's mouth. |
וְיַצִּילֵנִי הָאָדוֹן מִכָּל־מַעֲשֶׂה רָע וְיוֹשִׁיעֵנִי אֶל־מַלְכוּתוֹ שֶׁבַּשָּׁמַיִם לוֹ הַכָּבוֹד לְעוֹלְמֵי עוֹלָמִים אָמֵן | 18 The Lord will rescue me from all evil attempts on me, and bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. Tohim be glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
