1 וַיְהִי דְבַר־יְהוָה אֵלַי לֵאמֹר1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 וְאַתָּה בֶן־אָדָם שָׂא עַל־צֹר קִינָה2 'Son of man, raise the lament for Tyre.
3 וְאָמַרְתָּ לְצֹור [הַיֹּשְׁבֹתֵי כ] (הַיֹּשֶׁבֶת ק) עַל־מְבֹואֹת יָם רֹכֶלֶת הָעַמִּים אֶל־אִיִּים רַבִּים כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה צֹור אַתְּ אָמַרְתְּ אֲנִי כְּלִילַת יֹפִי3 Say to Tyre, "City enthroned at the gateway of the sea, agent between the peoples and the manyislands, Lord Yahweh says this: Tyre, you used to say: I am a ship perfect in beauty.
4 בְּלֵב יַמִּים גְּבוּלָיִךְ בֹּנַיִךְ כָּלְלוּ יָפְיֵךְ4 Your frontiers were far out to sea; those who built you made you perfect in beauty.
5 בְּרֹושִׁים מִשְּׂנִיר בָּנוּ לָךְ אֵת כָּל־לֻחֹתָיִם אֶרֶז מִלְּבָנֹון לָקָחוּ לַעֲשֹׂות תֹּרֶן עָלָיִךְ5 Cypress from Senir they used for al your planking. They took a cedar from Lebanon to make a mastabove you.
6 אַלֹּונִים מִבָּשָׁן עָשׂוּ מִשֹּׁוטָיִךְ קַרְשֵׁךְ עָשׂוּ־שֵׁן בַּת־אֲשֻׁרִים מֵאִיֵּי [כִּתִּיִּם כ] (כִּתִּיִּים׃ ק)6 From oaks of Bashan they made your oars. They built you a deck of cedar inlaid with ivory from theKittim isles.
7 שֵׁשׁ־בְּרִקְמָה מִמִּצְרַיִם הָיָה מִפְרָשֵׂךְ לִהְיֹות לָךְ לְנֵס תְּכֵלֶת וְאַרְגָּמָן מֵאִיֵּי אֱלִישָׁה הָיָה מְכַסֵּךְ7 Embroidered linen from Egypt was used for your sail and for your flag. Purple and scarlet from theElishah islands formed your deck-tent.
8 יֹשְׁבֵי צִידֹון וְאַרְוַד הָיוּ שָׁטִים לָךְ חֲכָמַיִךְ צֹור הָיוּ בָךְ הֵמָּה חֹבְלָיִךְ8 The people of Sidon and Arvad were your oarsmen. The sages of Tyre were aboard, serving assailors.
9 זִקְנֵי גְבַל וַחֲכָמֶיהָ הָיוּ בָךְ מַחֲזִיקֵי בִּדְקֵךְ כָּל־אֳנִיֹּות הַיָּם וּמַלָּחֵיהֶם הָיוּ בָךְ לַעֲרֹב מַעֲרָבֵךְ9 The elders and craftsmen of Gebal were there to caulk your seams. "Every sea-going ship and crewfrequented you to guarantee your trade.
10 פָּרַס וְלוּד וּפוּט הָיוּ בְחֵילֵךְ אַנְשֵׁי מִלְחַמְתֵּךְ מָגֵן וְכֹובַע תִּלּוּ־בָךְ הֵמָּה נָתְנוּ הֲדָרֵךְ10 Men from Persia, Lud and Put served as warriors in your army; hanging up shield and helmet in you,they displayed your splendour.
11 בְּנֵי אַרְוַד וְחֵילֵךְ עַל־חֹומֹותַיִךְ סָבִיב וְגַמָּדִים בְּמִגְדְּלֹותַיִךְ הָיוּ שִׁלְטֵיהֶם תִּלּוּ עַל־חֹומֹותַיִךְ סָבִיב הֵמָּה כָּלְלוּ יָפְיֵךְ11 The sons of Arvad with their army manned your wal s al round, while the Gammadians manned yourtowers; hanging their shields al round your walls, they completed your beauty.
12 תַּרְשִׁישׁ סֹחַרְתֵּךְ מֵרֹב כָּל־הֹון בְּכֶסֶף בַּרְזֶל בְּדִיל וְעֹופֶרֶת נָתְנוּ עִזְבֹונָיִךְ12 Tarshish traded with you because of your abundant resources and exchanged your merchandise forsilver, iron, tin and lead.
13 יָוָן תֻּבַל וָמֶשֶׁךְ הֵמָּה רֹכְלָיִךְ בְּנֶפֶשׁ אָדָם וּכְלֵי נְחֹשֶׁת נָתְנוּ מַעֲרָבֵךְ13 Javan, Tubal and Meshech traded with you. For your merchandise they traded slaves and bronzeartefacts.
14 מִבֵּית תֹּוגַרְמָה סוּסִים וּפָרָשִׁים וּפְרָדִים נָתְנוּ עִזְבֹונָיִךְ14 The people of Beth-Togarmah traded your horses, chargers, mules.
15 בְּנֵי דְדָן רֹכְלַיִךְ אִיִּים רַבִּים סְחֹרַת יָדֵךְ קַרְנֹות שֵׁן [וְהֹובְנִים כ] (וְהָבְנִים ק) הֵשִׁיבוּ אֶשְׁכָּרֵךְ15 The people of Dedan traded with you; many islands were your customers and paid you in ivory tusksand ebony.
16 אֲרָם סֹחַרְתֵּךְ מֵרֹב מַעֲשָׂיִךְ בְּנֹפֶךְ אַרְגָּמָן וְרִקְמָה וּבוּץ וְרָאמֹת וְכַדְכֹּד נָתְנוּ בְּעִזְבֹונָיִךְ16 Edom traded with you for the sake of your many manufactured goods, exchanging garnets, purple,embroideries, fine linen, coral and rubies for your goods.
17 יְהוּדָה וְאֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל הֵמָּה רֹכְלָיִךְ בְּחִטֵּי מִנִּית וּפַנַּג וּדְבַשׁ וָשֶׁמֶן וָצֹרִי נָתְנוּ מַעֲרָבֵךְ17 Judah and the land of Israel also traded with you, bringing corn from Minnith, pannag, honey, oil andbalm.
18 דַּמֶּשֶׂק סֹחַרְתֵּךְ בְּרֹב מַעֲשַׂיִךְ מֵרֹב כָּל־הֹון בְּיֵין חֶלְבֹּון וְצֶמֶר צָחַר18 Damascus traded with you, for quantities of your manufactured goods and other goods of al kinds,furnishing you with wine from Helbon and wool from Zahar.
19 וְדָן וְיָוָן מְאוּזָּל בְּעִזְבֹונַיִךְ נָתָנּוּ בַּרְזֶל עָשֹׁות קִדָּה וְקָנֶה בְּמַעֲרָבֵךְ הָיָה19 Dan and Javan, from Uzal onwards, supplied you with wrought iron, cassia and reeds in exchangefor your goods.
20 דְּדָן רֹכַלְתֵּךְ בְבִגְדֵי־חֹפֶשׁ לְרִכְבָּה20 Dedan traded with you in saddle-cloths.
21 עֲרַב וְכָל־נְשִׂיאֵי קֵדָר הֵמָּה סֹחֲרֵי יָדֵךְ בְּכָרִים וְאֵילִים וְעַתּוּדִים בָּם סֹחֲרָיִךְ21 Arabia and al the sheikhs of Kedar were your customers; they paid in lambs, rams and he-goats.
22 רֹכְלֵי שְׁבָא וְרַעְמָה הֵמָּה רֹכְלָיִךְ בְּרֹאשׁ כָּל־בֹּשֶׂם וּבְכָל־אֶבֶן יְקָרָה וְזָהָב נָתְנוּ עִזְבֹונָיִךְ22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah traded with you; they supplied you with the finest spices,precious stones and gold for your merchandise.
23 חָרָן וְכַנֵּה וָעֶדֶן רֹכְלֵי שְׁבָא אַשּׁוּר כִּלְמַד רֹכַלְתֵּךְ23 Haran, Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad traded with you.
24 הֵמָּה רֹכְלַיִךְ בְמַכְלֻלִים בִּגְלֹומֵי תְּכֵלֶת וְרִקְמָה וּבְגִנְזֵי בְּרֹמִים בַּחֲבָלִים חֲבֻשִׁים וַאֲרֻזִים בְּמַרְכֻלְתֵּךְ24 They traded rich clothes, embroidered and purple cloaks, multi-coloured materials and strong plaitedcords for your markets.
25 אֳנִיֹּות תַּרְשִׁישׁ שָׁרֹותַיִךְ מַעֲרָבֵךְ וַתִּמָּלְאִי וַתִּכְבְּדִי מְאֹד בְּלֵב יַמִּים25 Ships of Tarshish sailed on your business; you were ful and heavily loaded far out to sea.
26 בְּמַיִם רַבִּים הֱבִיאוּךְ הַשָּׁטִים אֹתָךְ רוּחַ הַקָּדִים שְׁבָרֵךְ בְּלֵב יַמִּים26 Out to the open sea your oarsmen rowed you. The east wind has wrecked you far out to sea.
27 הֹונֵךְ וְעִזְבֹונַיִךְ מַעֲרָבֵךְ מַלָּחַיִךְ וְחֹבְלָיִךְ מַחֲזִיקֵי בִדְקֵך וְעֹרְבֵי מַעֲרָבֵךְ וְכָל־אַנְשֵׁי מִלְחַמְתֵּךְ אֲשֶׁר־בָּךְ וּבְכָל־קְהָלֵךְ אֲשֶׁר בְּתֹוכֵךְ יִפְּלוּ בְּלֵב יַמִּים בְּיֹום מַפַּלְתֵּךְ27 Your riches, your goods, your cargo, your seamen, your sailors, your caulkers, your commercialagents, all the warriors you carry, and al the passengers who are aboard wil founder far out to sea on the day ofyour shipwreck.
28 לְקֹול זַעֲקַת חֹבְלָיִךְ יִרְעֲשׁוּ מִגְרֹשֹׁות28 When they hear the cries of your sailors the coasts wil tremble.
29 וְיָרְדוּ מֵאָנִיֹּותֵיהֶם כֹּל תֹּפְשֵׂי מָשֹׁוט מַלָּחִים כֹּל חֹבְלֵי הַיָּם אֶל־הָאָרֶץ יַעֲמֹדוּ29 Then the oarsmen will al desert their ships. The sailors and seafaring people wil stay ashore.
30 וְהִשְׁמִיעוּ עָלַיִךְ בְּקֹולָם וְיִזְעֲקוּ מָרָה וְיַעֲלוּ עָפָר עַל־רָאשֵׁיהֶם בָּאֵפֶר יִתְפַּלָּשׁוּ30 They will raise their voices for you and weep bitterly. They wil throw dust on their heads and roll inashes;
31 וְהִקְרִיחוּ אֵלַיִךְ קָרְחָה וְחָגְרוּ שַׂקִּים וּבָכוּ אֵלַיִךְ בְּמַר־נֶפֶשׁ מִסְפֵּד מָר31 they wil shave their heads for you and put sackcloth round their waists. With heartfelt bitterness theywil weep for you, bitterly wail.
32 וְנָשְׂאוּ אֵלַיִךְ בְּנִיהֶם קִינָה וְקֹונְנוּ עָלָיִךְ מִי כְצֹור כְּדֻמָה בְּתֹוךְ הַיָּם32 Wailing, they will raise the lament for you, they wil lament over you: Who is like Tyre, far out to sea?
33 בְּצֵאת עִזְבֹונַיִךְ מִיַּמִּים הִשְׂבַּעַתְּ עַמִּים רַבִּים בְּרֹב הֹונַיִךְ וּמַעֲרָבַיִךְ הֶעֱשַׁרְתְּ מַלְכֵי־אָרֶץ33 When you unloaded your goods to satisfy so many peoples, you enriched the kings of the earth withyour excess of wealth and goods.
34 עֵת נִשְׁבֶּרֶת מִיַּמִּים בְּמַעֲמַקֵּי־מָיִם מַעֲרָבֵךְ וְכָל־קְהָלֵךְ בְּתֹוכֵךְ נָפָלוּ34 Now you have been wrecked by the waves, by the depths of the sea. Your cargo and all yourpassengers have foundered with you.
35 כֹּל יֹשְׁבֵי הָאִיִּים שָׁמְמוּ עָלָיִךְ וּמַלְכֵיהֶם שָׂעֲרוּ שַׂעַר רָעֲמוּ פָּנִים35 Al those who live in the islands wil be stunned at your fate. Their kings wil quake with horror, withdowncast expressions.
36 סֹחֲרִים בָּעַמִּים שָׁרְקוּ עָלָיִךְ בַּלָּהֹות הָיִית וְאֵינֵךְ עַד־עֹולָם׃ ס36 The merchants of the nations wil whistle at your fate. You wil be an object of terror, gone for ever." '
