Bereshìt (בראשית) - Genesi 10

STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH	NEW JERUSALEM
1 וְאֵלֶּה תֹּולְדֹת בְּנֵי־נֹחַ שֵׁם חָם וָיָפֶת וַיִּוָּלְדוּ לָהֶם בָּנִים אַחַר הַמַּבּוּל	1 These are the descendants of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, to whom sons were born afterthe flood:
2 בְּנֵי יֶפֶת גֹּמֶר וּמָגֹוג וּמָדַי וְיָוָן וְתֻבָל וּמֶשֶׁךְ וְתִירָס	2 Japheth's sons: Gomer, Magog, the Medes, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, Tiras.
3 וּבְנֵי גֹּמֶר אַשְׁכֲּנַז וְרִיפַת וְתֹגַרְמָה	3 Gomer's sons: Ashkenaz, Riphath, Togarmah.
4 וּבְנֵי יָוָן אֱלִישָׁה וְתַרְשִׁישׁ כִּתִּים וְדֹדָנִים	4 Javan's sons: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim, the Dananites.
5 מֵאֵלֶּה נִפְרְדוּ אִיֵּי הַגֹּויִם בְּאַרְצֹתָם אִישׁ לִלְשֹׁנֹו לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם בְּגֹויֵהֶם	5 From these came the dispersal to the islands of the nations. These were Japheth's sons, in theirrespective countries, each with its own language, by clan and nation.
6 וּבְנֵי חָם כּוּשׁ וּמִצְרַיִם וּפוּט וּכְנָעַן	6 Ham's sons: Cush, Mizraim, Put, Canaan.
7 וּבְנֵי כוּשׁ סְבָא וַחֲוִילָה וְסַבְתָּה וְרַעְמָה וְסַבְתְּכָא וּבְנֵי רַעְמָה שְׁבָא וּדְדָן	7 Cush's sons: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, Sabteca. Raamah's sons: Sheba, Dedan.
8 וְכוּשׁ יָלַד אֶת־נִמְרֹד הוּא הֵחֵל לִהְיֹות גִּבֹּר בָּאָרֶץ	8 Cush fathered Nimrod who was the first potentate on earth.
9 הוּא־הָיָה גִבֹּר־צַיִד לִפְנֵי יְהוָה עַל־כֵּן יֵאָמַר כְּנִמְרֹד גִּבֹּור צַיִד לִפְנֵי יְהוָה	9 He was a mighty hunter in the eyes of Yahweh, hence the saying, 'Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter in theeyes of Yahweh'.
10 וַתְּהִי רֵאשִׁית מַמְלַכְתֹּו בָּבֶל וְאֶרֶךְ וְאַכַּד וְכַלְנֵה בְּאֶרֶץ שִׁנְעָר	10 The mainstays of his empire were Babel, Erech and Accad, all of them in the land of Shinar.
11 מִן־הָאָרֶץ הַהִוא יָצָא אַשּׁוּר וַיִּבֶן אֶת־נִינְוֵה וְאֶת־רְחֹבֹת עִיר וְאֶת־כָּלַח	11 From this country came Asshur, and he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
12 וְאֶת־רֶסֶן בֵּין נִינְוֵה וּבֵין כָּלַח הִוא הָעִיר הַגְּדֹלָה	12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (this being the capital).
13 וּמִצְרַיִם יָלַד אֶת־לוּדִים וְאֶת־עֲנָמִים וְאֶת־לְהָבִים וְאֶת־נַפְתֻּחִים	13 Mizraim fathered the people of Lud, of Anam, Lehab, Naphtuh,
14 וְאֶת־פַּתְרֻסִים וְאֶת־כַּסְלֻחִים אֲשֶׁר יָצְאוּ מִשָּׁם פְּלִשְׁתִּים וְאֶת־כַּפְתֹּרִים׃ ס	14 Pathros, Casluh and Caphtor, from which the Philistines came.
15 וּכְנַעַן יָלַד אֶת־צִידֹן בְּכֹרֹו וְאֶת־חֵת	15 Canaan fathered Sidon, his first-born, then Heth,
16 וְאֶת־הַיְבוּסִי וְאֶת־הָאֱמֹרִי וְאֵת הַגִּרְגָּשִׁי	16 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, Girgashites,
17 וְאֶת־הַחִוִּי וְאֶת־הַעַרְקִי וְאֶת־הַסִּינִי	17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,
18 וְאֶת־הָאַרְוָדִי וְאֶת־הַצְּמָרִי וְאֶת־הַחֲמָתִי וְאַחַר נָפֹצוּ מִשְׁפְּחֹות הַכְּנַעֲנִי	18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later, the Canaanite clans spread out.
19 וַיְהִי גְּבוּל הַכְּנַעֲנִי מִצִּידֹן בֹּאֲכָה גְרָרָה עַד־עַזָּה בֹּאֲכָה סְדֹמָה וַעֲמֹרָה וְאַדְמָה וּצְבֹיִם עַד־לָשַׁע	19 The Canaanite frontier stretched from Sidon al the way to Gerar near Gaza, and al the way toSodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboi m near Lesha.
20 אֵלֶּה בְנֵי־חָם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם לִלְשֹׁנֹתָם בְּאַרְצֹתָם בְּגֹויֵהֶם׃ ס	20 These were Ham's sons, by clans and languages, by countries and nations.
21 וּלְשֵׁם יֻלַּד גַּם־הוּא אֲבִי כָּל־בְּנֵי־עֵבֶר אֲחִי יֶפֶת הַגָּדֹול	21 Shem too fathered sons, being ancestor of all the sons of Eber and Japheth's elder brother.
22 בְּנֵי שֵׁם עֵילָם וְאַשּׁוּר וְאַרְפַּכְשַׁד וְלוּד וַאֲרָם	22 Shem's sons: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, Aram.
23 וּבְנֵי אֲרָם עוּץ וְחוּל וְגֶתֶר וָמַשׁ	23 Aram's sons: Uz, Hul, Gether and Mash.
24 וְאַרְפַּכְשַׁד יָלַד אֶת־שָׁלַח וְשֶׁלַח יָלַד אֶת־עֵבֶר	24 Arpachshad fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber.
25 וּלְעֵבֶר יֻלַּד שְׁנֵי בָנִים שֵׁם הָאֶחָד פֶּלֶג כִּי בְיָמָיו נִפְלְגָה הָאָרֶץ וְשֵׁם אָחִיו יָקְטָן	25 To Eber were born two sons: the first was cal ed Peleg, because it was in his time that the earth wasdivided, and his brother was called Joktan.
26 וְיָקְטָן יָלַד אֶת־אַלְמֹודָד וְאֶת־שָׁלֶף וְאֶת־חֲצַרְמָוֶת וְאֶת־יָרַח	26 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27 וְאֶת־הֲדֹורָם וְאֶת־אוּזָל וְאֶת־דִּקְלָה	27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28 וְאֶת־עֹובָל וְאֶת־אֲבִימָאֵל וְאֶת־שְׁבָא	28 Obal, Abima-El, Sheba,
29 וְאֶת־אֹופִר וְאֶת־חֲוִילָה וְאֶת־יֹובָב כָּל־אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי יָקְטָן	29 Ophir, Havilah, Jobab; al these were sons of Joktan.
30 וַיְהִי מֹושָׁבָם מִמֵּשָׁא בֹּאֲכָה סְפָרָה הַר הַקֶּדֶם	30 They occupied a stretch of country from Mesha all the way to Sephar, the eastern mountain range.
31 אֵלֶּה בְנֵי־שֵׁם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם לִלְשֹׁנֹתָם בְּאַרְצֹתָם לְגֹויֵהֶם	31 These were Shem's sons, by clans and languages, by countries and nations.
32 אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת בְּנֵי־נֹחַ לְתֹולְדֹתָם בְּגֹויֵהֶם וּמֵאֵלֶּה נִפְרְדוּ הַגֹּויִם בָּאָרֶץ אַחַר הַמַּבּוּל׃ פ	32 Such were the clans of Noah's descendants, listed by descent and nation. From them, other nationsbranched out on earth after the flood.
