CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINEL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
And again, he entered into the synagogue. And there was a man there who had a withered hand.1 Jesús entró nuevamente en una sinagoga, y había allí un hombre que tenía una mano paralizada.
And they observed him, to see if he would cure on the Sabbaths, so that they might accuse him.2 Los fariseos observaban atentamente a Jesús para ver si lo curaba en sábado, con el fin de acusarlo.
And he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Stand up in the middle.”3 Jesús dijo al hombre de la mano paralizada: «Ven y colócate aquí delante».
And he said to them: “Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbaths, or to do evil, to give health to a life, or to destroy?” But they remained silent.4 Y les dijo: «¿Está permitido en sábado hacer el bien o el mal, salvar una vida o perderla?». Pero ellos callaron.
And looking around at them with anger, being very saddened over the blindness of their hearts, he said to the man, “Extend your hand.” And he extended it, and his hand was restored to him.5 Entonces, dirigiendo sobre ellos una mirada llena de indignación y apenado por la dureza de sus corazones, dijo al hombre: «Extiende tu mano». El la extendió y su mano quedó curada.
Then the Pharisees, going out, immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him, as to how they might destroy him.6 Los fariseos salieron y se confabularon con los herodianos para buscar la forma de acabar con él.
But Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea. And a great crowd followed him from Galilee and Judea,7 Jesús se retiró con sus discípulos a la orilla del mar, y lo siguió mucha gente de Galilea.
and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea and across the Jordan. And those around Tyre and Sidon, upon hearing what he was doing, came to him in a great multitude.8 Al enterarse de lo que hacía, también fue a su encuentro una gran multitud de Judea, de Jerusalén, de Idumea, de la Transjordania y de la región de Tiro y Sidón.
And he told his disciples that a small boat would be useful to him, because of the crowd, lest they press upon him.9 Entonces mandó a sus discípulos que le prepararan una barca, para que la muchedumbre no lo apretujara.
For he healed so many, that as many of them as had wounds would rush toward him in order to touch him.10 Porque, como curaba a muchos, todos los que padecían algún mal se arrojaban sobre él para tocarlo.
And the unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell prostrate before him. And they cried out, saying,11 Y los espíritus impuros, apenas lo veían, se tiraban a sus pies, gritando: «¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!».
“You are the Son of God.” And he strongly admonished them, lest they make him known.12 Pero Jesús les ordenaba terminantemente que no lo pusieran de manifiesto.
And ascending onto a mountain, he called to himself those whom he willed, and they came to him.13 Después subió a la montaña y llamó a su lado a los que quiso. Ellos fueron hacia él,
And he acted so that the twelve would be with him, and so that he might send them out to preach.14 y Jesús instituyó a doce para que estuvieran con él, y para enviarlos a predicar
And he gave them authority to cure infirmities, and to cast out demons:15 con el poder de expulsar a los demonios.
and he imposed on Simon the name Peter;16 Así instituyó a los Doce: Simón, al que puso el sobrenombre de Pedro;
and also he imposed on James of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, the name ‘Boanerges,’ that is, ‘Sons of Thunder;’17 Santiago, hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan, hermano de Santiago, a los que dio el nombre de Boanerges, es decir, hijos del trueno;
and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Canaanite,18 luego, Andrés, Felipe, Bartolomé, Mateo, Tomás, Santiago, hijo de Alfeo, Tadeo, Simón, el Cananeo,
and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.19 y Judas Iscariote, el mismo que lo entregó.
And they went to a house, and the crowd gathered together again, so much so that they were not even able to eat bread.20 Jesús regresó a la casa, y de nuevo se juntó tanta gente que ni siquiera podían comer.
And when his own had heard of it, they went out to take hold of him. For they said: “Because he has gone mad.”21 Cuando sus parientes se enteraron, salieron para llevárselo, porque decían: «Es un exaltado».
And the scribes who had descended from Jerusalem said, “Because he has Beelzebub, and because by the prince of demons does he cast out demons.”22 Los escribas que habían venido de Jerusalén decían: «Está poseído por Belzebul y expulsa a los demonios por el poder del Príncipe de los Demonios».
And having called them together, he spoke to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan?23 Jesús los llamó y por medio de comparaciones les explicó: «¿Cómo Satanás va a expulsar a Satanás?
For if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom is not able to stand.24 Un reino donde hay luchas internas no puede subsistir,
And if a house is divided against itself, that house is not able to stand.25 Y una familia dividida tampoco puede subsistir.
And if Satan has risen up against himself, he would be divided, and he would not be able to stand; instead he reaches the end.26 Por lo tanto, si Satanás se dividió, levantándose contra sí mismo, ya no puede subsistir, sino que ha llega a su fin.
No one is able to plunder the goods of a strong man, having entered into the house, unless he first binds the strong man, and then he shall plunder his house.27 Pero nadie puede entrar en la casa de un hombre fuerte y saquear sus bienes, si primero no lo ata. Sólo así podrá saquear la casa.
Amen I say to you, that all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and the blasphemies by which they will have blasphemed.28 Les aseguro que todo será perdonado a los hombres: todos los pecados y cualquier blasfemia que profieran.
But he who will have blasphemed against the Holy Spirit shall not have forgiveness in eternity; instead he shall be guilty of an eternal offense.”29 Pero el que blasfeme contra el Espíritu Santo, no tendrá perdón jamás: es culpable de pecado para siempre».
For they said: “He has an unclean spirit.”30 Jesús dijo esto porque ellos decían: «Está poseído por un espíritu impuro».
And his mother and brothers arrived. And standing outside, they sent to him, calling him.31 Entonces llegaron su madre y sus hermanos y, quedándose afuera, lo mandaron llamar.
And the crowd was sitting around him. And they said to him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers are outside, seeking you.”32 La multitud estaba sentada alrededor de Jesús, y le dijeron: «Tu madre y tus hermanos te buscan ahí fuera».
And responding to them, he said, “Who is my mother and my brothers?”33 El les respondió: «¿Quién es mi madre y quiénes son mis hermanos?».
And looking around at those who were sitting all around him, he said: “Behold, my mother and my brothers.34 Y dirigiendo su mirada sobre los que estaban sentados alrededor de él, dijo: «Estos son mi madre y mis hermanos.
For whoever has done the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister and mother.”35 Porque el que hace la voluntad de Dios, ese es mi hermano, mi hermana y mi madre».
