And after six days, Jesus took Peter and James and his brother John, and he led them onto a lofty mountain separately.1 Six jours après, Jésus prend avec lui Pierre, Jacques, et Jean son frère, et les emmène, à l'écart, sur une haute montagne.
And he was transfigured before them. And his face shined brightly like the sun. And his garments were made white like snow.2 Et il fut transfiguré devant eux: son visage resplendit comme le soleil, et ses vêtements devinrentblancs comme la lumière.
And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, speaking with him.3 Et voici que leur apparurent Moïse et Elie, qui s'entretenaient avec lui.
And Peter responded by saying to Jesus: “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you are willing, let us make three tabernacles here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”4 Pierre alors, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus: "Seigneur, il est heureux que nous soyons ici; si tu leveux, je vais faire ici trois tentes, une pour toi, une pour Moïse et une pour Elie."
And while he was still speaking, behold, a shining cloud overshadowed them. And behold, there was a voice from the cloud, saying: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”5 Comme il parlait encore, voici qu'une nuée lumineuse les prit sous son ombre, et voici qu'unevoix disait de la nuée: "Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, qui a toute ma faveur, écoutez-le."
And the disciples, hearing this, fell prone on their face, and they were very afraid.6 A cette voix, les disciples tombèrent sur leurs faces, tout effrayés.
And Jesus drew near and touched them. And he said to them, “Rise up and do not be afraid.”7 Mais Jésus, s'approchant, les toucha et leur dit: "Relevez-vous, et n'ayez pas peur."
And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone.8 Et eux, levant les yeux, ne virent plus personne que lui, Jésus, seul.
And as they were descending from the mountain, Jesus instructed them, saying, “Tell no one about the vision, until the Son of man has risen from the dead.”9 Comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur donna cet ordre: "Ne parlez à personne decette vision, avant que le Fils de l'homme ne ressuscite d'entre les morts."
And his disciples questioned him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that it is necessary for Elijah to arrive first?”10 Et les disciples lui posèrent cette question: "Que disent donc les scribes, qu'Elie doit venird'abord?"
But in response, he said to them: “Elijah, indeed, shall arrive and restore all things.11 Il répondit: "Oui, Elie doit venir et tout remettre en ordre;
But I say to you, that Elijah has already arrived, and they did not recognize him, but they did whatever they wanted to him. So also shall the Son of man suffer from them.”12 or, je vous le dis, Elie est déjà venu, et ils ne l'ont pas reconnu, mais l'ont traité à leur guise. Demême le Fils de l'homme aura lui aussi à souffrir d'eux."
Then the disciples understood that he had spoken to them about John the Baptist.13 Alors les disciples comprirent que ses paroles visaient Jean le Baptiste.
And when he had arrived at the multitude, a man approached him, falling to his knees before him, saying: “Lord, take pity on my son, for he is an epileptic, and he suffers harm. For he frequently falls into fire, and often also into water.14 Comme ils rejoignaient la foule, un homme s'approcha de lui et, s'agenouillant, lui dit:
And I brought him to your disciples, but they were not able to cure him.”15 "Seigneur, aie pitié de mon fils, qui est lunatique et va très mal: souvent il tombe dans le feu, etsouvent dans l'eau.
Then Jesus responded by saying: “What an unbelieving and perverse generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I endure you? Bring him here to me.”16 Je l'ai présenté à tes disciples, et ils n'ont pas pu le guérir" --
And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.17 "Engeance incrédule et pervertie, répondit Jésus, jusques à quand serai-je avec vous? Jusques àquand ai-je à vous supporter? Apportez-le-moi ici."
Then the disciples approached Jesus privately and said, “Why were we unable to cast him out?”18 Et Jésus le menaça, et le démon sortit de l'enfant qui, de ce moment, fut guéri.
Jesus said to them: “Because of your unbelief. Amen I say to you, certainly, if you will have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it shall move. And nothing will be impossible for you.19 Alors les disciples, s'approchant de Jésus, dans le privé, lui demandèrent: "Pourquoi nous autres,n'avons-nous pu l'expulser"?
But this kind is not cast out, except through prayer and fasting.”20 "Parce que vous avez peu de foi leur dit-il. Car, je vous le dis en vérité, si vous avez de la foigros comme un grain de sénevé, vous direz à cette montagne: Déplace-toi d'ici à là, et elle se déplacera, et rienne vous sera impossible."
And when they were conversing together in Galilee, Jesus said to them: “The Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
And they will kill him, but he will rise again on the third day.” And they were extremely saddened.22 Comme ils se trouvaient réunis en Galilée, Jésus leur dit: "Le Fils de l'homme va être livré auxmains des hommes,
And when they had arrived at Capernaum, those who collected the half shekel approached Peter, and they said to him, “Doesn’t your Teacher pay the half shekel?”23 et ils le tueront, et, le troisième jour, il ressuscitera." Et ils en furent tout consternés.
He said, “Yes.” And when he had entered into the house, Jesus went before him, saying: “How does it seem to you, Simon? The kings of the earth, from whom do they receive tribute or the census tax: from their own sons or from foreigners?”24 Comme ils étaient venus à Capharnaüm, les collecteurs du didrachme s'approchèrent de Pierre etlui dirent: "Est-ce que votre maître ne paie pas le didrachme"?
And he said, “From foreigners.” Jesus said to him: “Then the sons are free.25 "Mais si", dit-il. Quand il fut arrivé à la maison, Jésus devança ses paroles en lui disant: "Qu'enpenses-tu, Simon? Les rois de la terre, de qui perçoivent-ils taxes ou impôts? De leurs fils ou des étrangers?"
But so that we may not become an obstacle to them: go to the sea, and cast in a hook, and take the first fish that is brought up, and when you have opened its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take it and give it to them, for me and for you.”26 Et comme il répondait: "Des étrangers", Jésus lui dit: "Par conséquent, les fils sont exempts.
