Haggai 1

1 In the second year of king Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came, by the hand of Haggai the prophet, to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Jesus the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying:	1 La deuxième année du roi Darius, le sixième mois, le premier jour du mois, la parole de Yahvé fut adresséepar le ministère du prophète Aggée à Zorobabel, fils de Shéaltiel, gouverneur de Juda, et à Josué, fils deYehoçadaq, le grand prêtre, en ces termes:
2 Thus says the Lord of hosts, saying: This people claims that the time has not yet arrived for building the house of the Lord.	2 Ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot. Ce peuple dit: "Il n'est pas encore arrivé, le moment de rebâtir le Templede Yahvé!"
3 But the word of the Lord came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:	3 (Et la parole de Yahvé fut adressée par le ministère du prophète en ces termes:)
4 Is it time for you to dwell in paneled houses, while this house is deserted?	4 Est-ce donc pour vous le moment de rester dans vos maisons lambrissées, quand cette Maison-là estdévastée?
5 And now, thus says the Lord of hosts: Set your hearts upon your ways.	5 Maintenant donc, ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot. Réfléchissez en votre coeur au chemin que vous avezpris!
6 You sowed much and have brought in little. You consumed and have not been satisfied. You drank and have not been inebriated. You covered yourselves and have not been warmed. And whoever gathered wages, has put them in a bag with holes.	6 Vous avez semé beaucoup mais peu engrangé; vous avez mangé, mais pas à votre faim; vous avezbu, mais pas votre saoul; vous vous êtes vêtus, mais non réchauffés. Le salarié a gagné son salaire pour le mettredans une bourse percée!
7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Set your hearts upon your ways.	7 Ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot. Réfléchissez en votre coeur au chemin que vous avez pris!
8 Ascend to the mountain, bring wood and build the house, and it shall be acceptable to me, and I shall be glorified, says the Lord.	8 Montez à la montagne, rapportez du bois et réédifiez la Maison; j'y mettrai ma complaisance et j'ymanifesterai ma gloire - dit Yahvé.
9 You have looked for more, and behold, it became less, and you brought it home, and I blew it away. What is the cause of this, says the Lord of hosts? It is because my house is desolate, yet you have hurried, each one to his own house.	9 Vous attendiez l'abondance et ce fut maigre. Quand vous avez engrangé, j'ai soufflé dessus. Pourquoidonc? Oracle de Yahvé Sabaot. A cause de ma Maison qui est détruite, tandis que vous vous empressez chacunpour votre maison.
10 Because of this, the heavens over you have been prohibited from giving dew, and the earth has been prohibited from giving her sprouts.	10 C'est pourquoi les cieux ont retenu la pluie et la terre a retenu ses produits.
11 And I called a drought over the land, and over the mountains, and over the wheat, and over the wine, and over the oil, and whatever the soil would bring forth, and over men, and over beasts of burden, and over all the labor of hands.	11 J'ai appelé la sécheresse sur la terre, sur les montagnes, sur le blé, sur le vin nouveau, sur l'huilefraîche et sur tout ce que produit le sol, sur les hommes et sur le bétail, et sur tout le labeur de vos mains.
12 And Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jesus the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people heeded the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, just as the Lord their God sent him to them. And the people were fearful before the face of the Lord.	12 Or Zorobabel, fils de Shéaltiel, Josué, fils de Yehoçadaq, le grand prêtre, et tout le reste du peupleécoutèrent la voix de Yahvé leur Dieu et les paroles du prophète Aggée, selon la mission dont Yahvé leur Dieul'avait chargé. Et le peuple éprouva de la crainte devant Yahvé.
13 And Haggai, a messenger of the Lord among messengers of the Lord, spoke to the people, saying: the Lord says, “I am with you.”	13 Aggée, le messager de Yahvé, parla en ces termes au peuple, selon le message de Yahvé: "Je suisavec vous, oracle de Yahvé."
14 And the Lord stirred the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the remainder of all the people. And they entered and performed work in the house of the Lord of hosts their God,	14 Et Yahvé excita l'esprit de Zorobabel, fils de Shéaltiel, gouverneur de Juda, l'esprit de Josué, fils deYehoçadaq, le grand prêtre, et l'esprit de tout le reste du peuple: ils vinrent et se mirent à l'ouvrage dans leTemple de Yahvé Sabaot leur Dieu.
