1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, wail on my holy mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land be stirred up. For the day of the Lord is on its way; for it is near:	1 - Sonate la tromba in Sion, urlate sul mio santo monte! Si riscuotano tutti gli abitanti del paese, perchè il giorno del Signore viene, perchè è vicino!
2 a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and whirlwinds. Like the morning reaching over the mountains, they are a numerous and strong people. Nothing like them has existed since the beginning, nor will exist after them, even in the years of generation upon generation.	2 Giorno di tenebre e di oscurità, giorno di nembo e di turbine. Quale alba su per i monti, si spande un popolo numeroso e forte. Pari a lui non v'è: nè fu dal principio in poi, nè vi sarà in seguito, pel volgere di generazioni e generazioni.
3 Before their face is a devouring fire, and behind them is a burning flame. The land before them is like a lush garden, and behind them is a desolate desert, and there is no one who can escape them.	3 Dinanzi alla sua faccia, un fuoco divoratore; e dietro a lui, una fiamma ardente. Come un giardino di delizie è la terra davanti a lui; e dietro a lui, un deserto di desolazione, e da lui non c'è scampo alcuno.
4 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses, and they will rush forward like horsemen.	4 Hanno l'aspetto come l'aspetto dei cavalli, e come cavalieri, così correranno.
5 Like the sound of a four-horse chariot, they will leap over the tops of the mountains. Like the sound of a burning flame devouring stubble, they are as a strong people prepared for battle.	5 Salteranno con rumore come di carri rimbalzanti pei gioghi dei monti, con lo scroscio della vampa del fuoco che divorerà la paglia come un popolo formidabile ordinato in battaglia.
6 Before their face, the people will be tortured; each one’s appearance will retreat, as if into a jar.	6 Al loro affacciarsi staranno in angoscia le genti, tutti faranno l'aspetto più scuro di un paiuolo.
7 They will rush forward, as if they were strong. Like valiant warriors, they will ascend the wall. The men will advance, each one on his own way, and they will not turn aside from their path.	7 Correranno come forti campioni, come uomini di guerra scaleranno le mura, s'avanzeranno ognuno nella sua direzione e non devieranno dalle loro strade.
8 And each one will not hem in his brother; every one will walk in his own rough path. Moreover, they will drop through the breach and not be harmed.	8 L'uno non farà inciampo al suo uguale, ciascuno procederà pel suo sentiero; fin traverso le aperture piomberanno e non si scompiglieranno.
9 They will advance into the city; they will rush through the wall. They will scale the houses; they will go in through the windows, like a thief.	9 Irromperanno nella città, scorreranno sul muro, monteranno nelle case, entreranno fino per le finestre come un ladro.
10 Before their face, the earth has trembled, the heavens have been moved. The sun and moon have been obscured, and the stars have retracted their splendor.	10 Dinanzi a loro ha tremato la terra, si scossero i cieli, il sole e la luna si oscurarono e le stelle ritirarono il loro splendore.
11 And the Lord has bestowed his voice before the face of his army. For its military camps are very numerous; for they are strong and they carry out his word. For the day of the Lord is great and so very terrible, and who can withstand it?	11 E il Signore alzò la voce alla testa del suo esercito, perchè la sua armata è numerosissima, perchè è forte ed esecutrice della sua parola. Sì, il giorno del Signore è grande e terribilissimo, e chi lo potrà sostenere?».
12 Now, therefore, the Lord says: “Be converted to me with your whole heart, in fasting and weeping and mourning.”	12 Ora dunque dice il Signore: «Convertitevi a me di tutto cuore nel digiuno, nel pianto e nel duolo.
13 And rend your hearts, and not your garments, and convert to the Lord your God. For he is gracious and merciful, patient and full of compassion, and steadfast despite ill will.	13 E squarciate i vostri cuori e non i vostri vestimenti, e convertitevi al nostro Signore Iddio, perchè egli è benigno e misericordioso, paziente e molto compassionevole e predisposto a condonare il male.
14 Who knows if he might convert and forgive, and bequeath a blessing after him, a sacrifice and a libation to the Lord your God?	14 Chissà che non si rivolga a noi e perdoni, e lasci dietro a sè benedizione, offerta e libazione per sè, il Signore Dio vostro.
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call an assembly.	15 Sonate la tromba in Sion, indite un santo digiuno, convocate la radunanza,
16 Gather the people, sanctify the church, unite the elders, gather together the little ones and infants at the breast. Let the bridegroom depart from his bed, and the bride from her bridal chamber.	16 radunate il popolo e indite l'assemblea santa; raccogliete i vecchi, riunite i fanciulli, i bambini di latte; esca lo sposo dalla sua stanza nuziale e la sposa dal suo talamo.
17 Between the vestibule and the altar, the priests, the ministers of the Lord, will weep, and they will say: “Spare, O Lord, spare your people. And do not bequeath your inheritance into disgrace, so that the nations would rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’ ”	17 Tra il vestibolo e l'altare i sacerdoti ministri del Signore piangeranno e diranno: - Perdona Signore, perdona al tuo popolo, e non esporre la tua eredità al ludibrio di essere dominata dalle genti! Perchè avrebbero a dire tra i popoli: Dov'è il loro Dio?-».
18 The Lord has been zealous for his land, and he has spared his people.	18 E il Signore mostrò d'esser geloso della sua terra, e risparmiò il suo popolo.
19 And the Lord responded, and he said to his people: “Behold, I will send you grain and wine and oil, and you will again be filled with them. And I will no longer give you disgrace among the Gentiles.	19 E il Signore rispose e disse al suo popolo: «Ecco, che io vi manderò il frumento e il vino e l'olio e ne avrete abbondanza, e non vi esporrò più al ludibrio delle genti.
20 And he who is from the North, I will drive far from you. And I will expel him into an impassable land, and into the desert, with his face opposite the Eastern sea, and his furthest part towards the furthest sea. And his stench will ascend, and his rottenness will ascend, because he has acted arrogantly.	20 E quello dal settentrione io allontanerò da voi e lo sospingerò in una terra impraticabile e deserta, colla fronte al mare orientale e il suo lembo estremo al mare di ponente; e salirà il suo fetore e salirà il suo puzzo, perchè agì superbamente.
21 Earth, do not be afraid. Exult and rejoice. For the Lord has great esteem for what he has done.	21 Non temere, o terra, godi e rallegrati, perchè il Signore sta operando cose grandiose.
22 Animals of the countryside, do not be afraid. For the beauty of the wilderness has sprung forth. For the tree has borne its fruit. The fig tree and the vine have bestowed their virtue.	22 Non temete, o animali della campagna, perchè i pascoli buoni del deserto hanno rigermogliato; perchè l'albero porta il suo frutto, il fico e la vite hanno ridato la loro virtù.
23 And you, sons of Zion, exult and rejoice in the Lord your God. For he has given you a teacher of justice, and he will make the early and the late rains descend to you, just as it was in the beginning.	23 O figliuoli di Sion, esultatevi e rallegratevi nel Signore Dio vostro, perchè vi ha dato il maestro della giustizia e vi farà discendere le piogge, la prima e la serotina, come da principio.
24 And the threshing floors will be filled with grain, and the presses will overflow with wine and oil.	24 E le aie saranno piene di grano e i pressoi traboccheranno di vino e di olio.
25 And I will repay you for the years which the locust, and the beetle, and the mildew, and the caterpillar consumed: my great strength which I sent upon you.	25 E vi compenserò delle annate che hanno consumato la locusta, il bruco, la ruggine e il verme, quella mia gran forza armata che ho mandato contro di voi.
26 And you will eat with enjoyment, and you will be satisfied, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked miracles with you, and my people will not be confounded forever.	26 E avrete cibo da mangiare e ve ne satollerete, e loderete il nome del Signore Dio vostro che ha operato con voi miracoli, e il mio popolo non sarà confuso in eterno.
27 And you will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and I am the Lord your God, and there is no other, and my people will not be confounded forever.	27 E conoscerete che in mezzo a Israele io ci sono, e che sono io il Signore Dio vostro e non altri; e il mio popolo non sarà confuso in eterno.
28 And after this, it will happen that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy; your elders will dream dreams, and your youths will see visions.	28 E avverrà dopo questo, che io effonderò il mio spirito sopra tutti gli uomini, e i vostri figliuoli e le vostre figliuole profeteranno, e i vostri vecchi sogneranno sogni, e i vostri giovani vedranno visioni.
29 Moreover, in those days I will pour out my spirit upon my servants and handmaids.	29 Ma anche sopra i servi miei e sopra le serve effonderò il mio spirito.
30 And I will grant wonders in the sky and on earth: blood and fire and the vapor of smoke.	30 E darò prodigi in cielo e in terra, sangue e fuoco e nuvole di fumo.
31 The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord shall arrive.	31 E il sole si cangerà in tenebre e la luna in sangue innanzi che venga il grande e tremendo giorno del Signore.
32 And it will happen that everyone who will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. For on Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and in the remnant whom the Lord will call, there will be salvation, just as the Lord has said.	32 E avverrà che chiunque avrà invocato il nome di Dio sarà salvo perchè nel monte Sion ed in Gerusalemme vi sarà la salvezza, come il Signore ha detto, e negli avanzi che il Signore avrà chiamati.
