Isaiah 59

1 Behold, the hand of the Lord has not been shortened, so that it cannot save, and his ear has not been blocked, so that it cannot hear.	1 - Ecco che la mano del Signore non è accorciata, che non possa più salvare; non si è indurita la sua orecchia che non possa più sentire.
2 But your iniquities have made a division between you and your God, and your sins have concealed his face from you, so that he would not hear.	2 Ma sono le vostre iniquità che hanno messo la divisione tra voi e il vostro Dio, e i vostri peccati l'hanno obbligato a nascondere a voi la sua faccia e a non esaudirvi.
3 For your hands have been polluted by blood, and your fingers by iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue utters iniquity.	3 Perchè le vostre mani sono imbrattate di sangue, e le vostre dita d'iniquità: le vostre labbra proferiscono menzogne, e la vostra lingua parla iniquamente.
4 There is no one who calls for justice, and there is no one who judges truly. For they trust in nothing, and they speak emptiness. They have conceived hardship, and they have given birth to iniquity.	4 Non c'è chi faccia appello alla giustizia, non c'è nessuno che giudichi con verità; confidano in cose futili e parlano di cose vane, concepiscono misfatti e partoriscono iniquità.
5 They have ruptured the eggs of asps, and they have woven the webs of spiders. Whoever will eat of their eggs will die. For what has been incubated will hatch into a king snake.	5 Hanno schiuso una covata di aspidi e hanno tessute tele di ragno. Chi mangerà delle loro uova morirà, e se saranno poste a covare ne usciran fuori basilischi.
6 Their weavings will not be for clothing, nor will they cover themselves with their handiwork. Their works are useless things, and the work of iniquity is in their hands.	6 Le loro tele non saranno per far panni, nè con quello che hanno fatto potranno coprirsi; le loro opere sono opere inutili, il lavoro e il prodotto della iniquità è nelle loro mani.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they rush to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are useless thoughts; devastation and destruction are in their ways.	7 I loro piedi corrono al male, e si affrettano a spargere il sangue innocente: i loro pensieri non sono niente di buono, guasto e rovina nelle loro strade.
8 They have not known the way of peace, and there is no judgment in their steps. Their paths have become crooked for them. Anyone who treads in them knows no peace.	8 La via della pace non la conoscono e giustizia non è nei loro passi; i loro sentieri sono per essi quelli dei raggiri, chiunque li calca non sa ciò che è la pace.
9 Because of this, judgment is far from us, and justice will not take hold of us. We waited for light, and behold, darkness; we waited for brightness, and we walked in darkness.	9 Per questo si è allontanato da noi il giudizio, e la giustizia non ci si accosta; abbiamo aspettato la luce, ed ecco oscurità; splendore, e abbiamo camminato nelle tenebre.
10 We groped for the wall, like one who is blind, and we felt our way, like one without eyes. We stumbled at midday, as if in darkness; and in darkness, as if in death.	10 Andiamo avanti come ciechi che tastano le pareti, brancicando come chi è senz'occhi; inciampiamo alla luce di mezzogiorno come se fosse oscuro, come i morti nei luoghi bui.
11 We will all roar like bears, and we will sigh like despondent doves. We hoped for judgment, and there is none; for salvation, and it is far from us.	11 Manderemo urla come gli orsi, e sospiri come i gemiti delle colombe; abbiamo aspettato giustizia, e giustizia non ce n'è; salvezza, e la salvezza è rimasta lontana da noi.
12 For our iniquities have been multiplied in your sight, and our sins have answered us. For our wickedness is with us, and we have acknowledged our iniquities:	12 Perchè le nostre iniquità verso di te si sono moltiplicate, e i nostri peccati depongono contro di noi; perchè noi ci sentiamo colpevoli, riconosciamo i nostri torti,
13 sinning and lying against the Lord. And we have turned away, not so as to go after our God, and so that we were speaking calumny and transgression. We have conceived, and spoken from the heart, words of falsehood.	13 d'aver peccato e mentito al Signore e d'esserci rivoltati non volendo più andare dietro al nostro Dio; d'aver proferito l'ingiuria e l'offesa; d'aver concepito in cuore e detto parole di menzogna.
14 And judgment has been turned backwards, and justice has stood far away. For truth has fallen down in the street, and fairness was not able to enter.	14 E il giudizio si è ritirato indietro e la giustizia si è fermata lontano, perchè la verità stramazzò al suolo sulla piazza, e l'equità non è potuta entrare,
15 And the truth has gone into oblivion. And he who withdraws from evil endures plunder. And the Lord saw this, and it seemed evil in his eyes. For there is no judgment.	15 e la verità è misconosciuta, e chi si tiene lontano dal male è esposto ad esser preda. E il Signore ha veduto e gli ha contristato gli occhi il non esservi più giustizia.
16 And he saw that there was no good man. And he was astonished that there was no one to meet him. And his own arm brought salvation to him, and his own justice strengthened him.	16 E vide che non c'era alcun uomo e stupì che nessuno accorresse: allora il suo braccio gli venne in aiuto e la sua giustizia fu quella che lo sostenne.
17 He clothed himself with justice as with a breastplate, and with a helmet of salvation upon his head. He put on the vestments of vengeance, and he was covered with zeal as with a cloak.	17 Si è vestito della giustizia come d'una corazza e s'è posto in capo l'elmo della salvezza; ha indossato le vesti della vendetta, e dello zelo come d'un manto si è ricoperto.
18 This was for vindication, as a repayment of indignation to his adversaries, and as a sudden reversal for his enemies. He will repay the islands in their turn.	18 Come per far vendetta, come per fare retribuzione invocata dallo sdegno sui suoi nemici, e rendere ai suoi avversari il guiderdone, e alle isole il contraccambio.
19 And those from the west will fear the name of the Lord, and those from the rising of the sun will fear his glory, when he arrives like a violent river, which the Spirit of the Lord urges on.	19 E quei d'occidente temeranno il nome del Signore; e quelli ove nasce il sole, la sua gloria, quando verrà come fiumana impetuosa, sospinta dallo spirito del Signore,
20 And the Redeemer will arrive in Zion, and to those who return from the iniquity within Jacob, says the Lord.	20 e sarà venuto il Redentore per Sion, e per quei di Giacobbe che si convertono dall'iniquità, dice il Signore.
21 This is my pact with them, says the Lord. My Spirit is within you, and my words, which I have put in your mouth, will not withdraw from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring, says the Lord, from this moment, and even forever.	21 E questo è il mio patto con essi, dice il Signore: «Il mio spirito che è in te, e le mie parole che ho poste nella tua bocca non si dipartiranno dalla tua bocca, nè dalla bocca dei tuoi figli e dalla bocca dei figli dei tuoi figli, dice il Signore, da ora e fino in eterno».
