Isaiah 55

1 All you who thirst, come to the waters. And you who have no money: hurry, buy and eat. Approach, buy wine and milk, without money and without barter.	1 Holà, vous tous qui avez soif, venez vers les eaux! Et vous qui êtes sans argent, venez, achetez et mangez! Venez, achetez sans argent, sans payer, du vin et du lait.
2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and expend your labor for what does not satisfy? Listen very closely to me, and eat what is good, and then your soul will be delighted by a full measure.	2 Pourquoi dépenser pour ce qui n’est pas du pain, donner votre salaire pour ce qui ne nourrit pas? Écoutez-moi bien, et vous mangerez ce qui est bon, vous ferez un festin des meilleurs.
3 Incline your ear and draw near to me. Listen, and your soul will live. And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, by the faithful mercies of David.	3 Tendez l’oreille et venez vers moi, écoutez, et vous retrouverez vie. Je ferai avec vous une alliance éternelle, je vous accorderai les bienfaits promis à David.
4 Behold, I have presented him as a witness to the people, as a commander and instructor to the nations.	4 Car j’ai fait de lui un témoin pour les peuples, un chef pour commander aux peuples.
5 Behold, you will call to a nation that you did not know. And nations that did not know you will rush to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel. For he has glorified you.	5 Tu vas appeler une nation que tu ne connaissais pas; une nation qui ne te connaissait pas accourra vers toi à cause de Yahvé ton Dieu, à cause du Saint d’Israël qui t’a confié cette charge.
6 Seek the Lord, while he is able to be found. Call upon him, while he is near.	6 Cherchez Yahvé pendant qu’il se laisse trouver, tournez-vous vers lui alors qu’il est proche.
7 Let the impious one abandon his way, and the iniquitous man his thoughts, and let him return to the Lord, and he will take pity on him, and to our God, for he is great in forgiveness.	7 Que le méchant abandonne sa voie et l’homme injuste ses pensées; qu’ils reviennent vers Yahvé qui aura pitié d’eux, vers notre Dieu qui est riche en pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways, says the Lord.	8 Car mes pensées ne sont pas vos pensées, et vos chemins ne sont pas mes chemins - parole de Yahvé.
9 For just as the heavens are exalted above the earth, so also are my ways exalted above your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts.	9 Autant le ciel est élevé au-dessus de la terre, autant mes chemins sont élevés au-dessus des vôtres, et mes pensées au-dessus de vos pensées.
10 And in the same manner as rain and snow descend from heaven, and no longer return there, but soak the earth, and water it, and cause it to bloom and to provide seed to the sower and bread to the hungry,	10 De même que la pluie et la neige tombent du ciel et n’y retournent pas sans avoir arrosé la terre, sans l’avoir fécondée et fait germer pour qu’elle donne la semence au semeur et le pain à celui qui mange,
11 so also will my word be, which will go forth from my mouth. It will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish whatever I will, and it will prosper in the tasks for which I sent it.	11 de même la parole qui sort de ma bouche ne revient pas à moi sans effet, sans avoir accompli ma volonté et réalisé ce pour quoi je l’ai envoyée.
12 For you will go forth rejoicing, and you will be led forward in peace. The mountains and the hills will sing praise before you, and all the trees of the countryside will clap their hands.	12 Oui, vous sortirez dans la joie, on vous ramènera en paix. Buttes et monts pour vous crieront de joie, et tous les arbres des champs applaudiront.
13 In place of the shrub, the pine tree will arise, and in place of the nettle, the myrtle tree will grow. And the Lord will be named with an eternal sign, which will not be taken away.	13 Le cyprès se lèvera à la place du buisson, et l’on verra le myrte à la place de l’ortie; ce sera un honneur pour Yahvé, un signe éternel qui ne disparaîtra pas.
