Isaiah 19

1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the Lord will ascend upon a lofty cloud, and he will enter into Egypt, and the false images of Egypt will be moved before his face, and the heart of Egypt will waste away in its midst.	1 Oracolo sull'Egitto. Ecco il Signore che cavalca su una nube leggera e se ne va in Egitto. Vacillano gl'idoli dell'Egitto davanti a lui e nel petto viene meno il cuore agli Egiziani.
2 And I will cause Egyptian to rush against Egyptian. And they will fight: a man against his brother, and a man against his friend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.	2 Aizzerò l'Egitto contro l'Egitto, combatteranno gli uni contro gli altri, ciascuno contro il suo prossimo, città contro città, regno contro regno.
3 And the spirit of Egypt will be ruptured to its very core. And I will cast down their plan violently. And they will seek answers from their false images, and their diviners, and those led by demons, and their seers.	3 La potenza dell'Egitto svanirà in mezzo ad esso, e renderò vano il suo consiglio; per cui ricorreranno agli idoli e agli incantatori, ai negromanti e agli indovini.
4 And I will deliver Egypt into the hand of cruel masters, and a strong king will dominate them, says the Lord, the God of hosts.	4 Consegnerò gli Egiziani in balìa di un duro padrone, un re crudele dominerà su di loro. Oracolo del Signore, Dio degli eserciti.
5 And the waters of the sea will dry up, and the river will be desolate and dry.	5 Le acque del mare si disseccheranno, il fiume diventerà arido e asciutto.
6 And the rivers will fail. The streams of its banks will diminish and dry up. The reed and the bulrush will wither away.	6 I canali diventeranno nauseabondi, si svuoteranno e seccheranno i torrenti, canne e giunchi sbiadiranno.
7 The channel of the river will be stripped down to its source, and everything irrigated by it will dry up and wither and be no more.	7 I papiri sulle rive del Nilo e alla foce del Nilo e tutte le piante del Nilo si seccheranno, spariranno completamente.
8 And the fishermen will grieve. And all who cast a hook into the river will mourn. And those who cast a net upon the surface of its waters will languish.	8 Gemeranno i pescatori, faranno lutto quanti nel Nilo gettano l'amo, e si lamenteranno quanti stendono le reti sulla superficie dell'acqua.
9 Those who work with linen, combing and weaving fine textiles, will be confounded.	9 Saranno confusi i lavoratori del lino, le scardatrici e i tessitori impallidiranno.
10 And its irrigated places will begin to fail, with all those who make pools to take fish.	10 I tessitori saranno costernati, tutti gli operai salariati rattristati nel loro animo.
11 The leaders of Tanis are foolish. The wise counselors of Pharaoh have given foolish counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh: “I am the son of wisemen, the son of the kings of antiquity?”	11 Certamente stolti sono i prìncipi di Tanis, i più sapienti dei consiglieri del faraone formano un consiglio stupido. Come potete dire al faraone: "Io sono discepolo dei sapienti, discepolo di antichi regnanti"?
12 Where are your wisemen now? Let them announce it to you, and let them reveal what the Lord of hosts intends for Egypt.	12 Dove sono dunque i tuoi sapienti? Ti annuncino e facciano conoscere ciò che progettò il Signore degli eserciti a proposito dell'Egitto.
13 The leaders of Tanis have become foolish. The leaders of Memphis have decayed. They have deceived Egypt, the corner of its people.	13 Sono divenuti stolti i prìncipi di Tanis, si ingannano i prìncipi di Menfi. Hanno fatto traviare l'Egitto i capi delle sue tribù.
14 The Lord has mixed a spirit of giddiness into its midst. And they have caused Egypt to err in all its works, like a drunken man who staggers and vomits.	14 Il Signore ha effuso in mezzo a loro uno spirito di smarrimento, essi fanno traviare l'Egitto in ogni sua attività, come va errando l'ubriaco nel suo vomito.
15 And there will be no work for Egypt that would produce a head or a tail, one who bows down or one who refrains from bowing down.	15 Ed in favore dell'Egitto non si compirà un'opera da parte del capo o della coda, del ramo o del giunco.
16 In that day, Egypt will be like women, and they will be stupefied and fearful before the presence of the shaking hand of the Lord of hosts, the hand which he will move over them.	16 In quel giorno gli Egiziani saranno come femmine, tremeranno spaventati di fronte alla mano che il Signore degli eserciti agiterà contro di loro.
17 And the land of Judah will be a dread to Egypt. Everyone who thinks about it will be terrified before the presence of the plan of the Lord of hosts, the plan which he has decided concerning them.	17 Il paese di Giuda diventerà un terrore per l'Egitto; ogni volta che Giuda sarà ricordato, se ne avrà timore a causa del progetto che il Signore degli eserciti ha formato contro di esso.
18 In that day, there will be five cities in the land of Egypt which speak the language of Canaan, and which swear by the Lord of hosts. One will be called the City of the Sun.	18 In quel giorno vi saranno in Egitto cinque città che parleranno la lingua di Canaan e giureranno per il Signore degli eserciti; una di queste si chiamerà Città del sole.
19 In that day, there will be an altar of the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt and a monument of the Lord beside its borders.	19 In quel giorno vi sarà nel mezzo del paese di Egitto un altare dedicato al Signore, presso la sua frontiera una stele in onore del Signore.
20 This shall be a sign and a testimony to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. For they will cry out to the Lord before the face of the tribulation, and he will send them a savior and a defender who will free them.	20 Ci sarà un segno e una testimonianza per il Signore degli eserciti nel paese di Egitto. Quando invocheranno il Signore di fronte agli oppressori, egli invierà loro un salvatore e un difensore, che li libererà.
21 And the Lord will be acknowledged by Egypt, and the Egyptians will recognize the Lord in that day, and they will worship him with sacrifices and gifts. And they will make vows to the Lord, and they will fulfill them.	21 Il Signore si farà conoscere all'Egitto; gli Egiziani riconosceranno il Signore in quel giorno; lo serviranno con sacrifici e oblazioni, faranno voti al Signore e li manterranno.
22 And the Lord will strike Egypt with a scourge, and he will heal them. And they will return to the Lord. And he will be placated toward them, and he will heal them.	22 Il Signore percuoterà ancora gli Egiziani, li percuoterà, ma poi li guarirà; si convertiranno al Signore, che sarà loro propizio e li guarirà.
23 In that day, there will be a way from Egypt to the Assyrians, and the Assyrian will enter into Egypt, and the Egyptian will be with the Assyrians, and the Egyptians will serve Assur.	23 In quel giorno ci sarà una strada dall'Egitto fino all'Assiria. L'Assiria verrà in Egitto e l'Egitto andrà in Assiria e gli Egiziani serviranno il Signore insieme con gli Assiri.
24 In that day, will Israel be the third to the Egyptian and the Assyrian, a blessing in the midst of the earth,	24 In quel giorno Israele, il terzo con l'Egitto e con l'Assiria, sarà una benedizione in mezzo alla terra.
25 which the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying: Blessed be my people of Egypt, and the work of my hands for the Assyrian, but Israel is my inheritance.	25 Il Signore degli eserciti li benedirà dicendo: "Benedetto sia l'Egitto, popolo mio, l'Assiria, opera delle mie mani, e Israele mia eredità".
