Proverbs 12

1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge. But whoever hates correction is unwise.	1 Wer Zucht liebt, liebt Erkenntnis, wer Zurechtweisung hasst, ist dumm.
2 Whoever is good shall draw grace from the Lord. But whoever trusts in his own thoughts acts impiously.	2 Der Gute findet Gefallen beim Herrn, den Heimtückischen aber spricht er schuldig.
3 Man will not be made strong from impiety. And the root of the just shall not be moved.	3 Wer unrecht tut, hat keinen Bestand, doch die Wurzel der Gerechten sitzt fest.
4 A diligent woman is a crown to her husband. And she who acts with confusion as to which things are worthy is decay to his bones.	4 Eine tüchtige Frau ist die Krone ihres Mannes, eine schändliche ist wie Fäulnis in seinen Knochen.
5 The thoughts of the just are judgments. And the counsels of the impious are dishonest.	5 Die Gedanken der Gerechten trachten nach Recht, die Pläne der Frevler sind auf Betrug aus.
6 The words of the impious lie in wait for blood. The mouth of the just shall free them.	6 Die Reden der Frevler sind ein Lauern auf Blut, die Redlichen rettet ihr Mund.
7 Turn from the impious, and they will not be. But the house of the just shall stand firm.	7 Die Frevler werden gestürzt und sind dahin, das Haus der Gerechten hat Bestand.
8 A man will be known by his doctrine. But whoever is vain and heartless will suffer contempt.	8 Nach dem Maß seiner Klugheit wird ein jeder gelobt, verkehrter Sinn fällt der Verachtung anheim.
9 Better is a pauper who has what he needs, than someone glorious and in need of bread.	9 Besser unbeachtet bleiben und seine Arbeit verrichten, als großtun und kein Brot haben.
10 The just one knows the lives of his beasts. But the inner most parts of the impious are cruel.	10 Der Gerechte weiß, was sein Vieh braucht, doch das Herz der Frevler ist hart.
11 Whoever works his land shall be satisfied with bread. But whoever continually pursues leisure is most foolish. Whoever is soothed by lingering over wine leaves behind contempt in his strongholds.	11 Wer sein Feld bestellt, wird satt von Brot, wer nichtigen Dingen nachjagt, ist ohne Verstand.
12 The desire of the impious is the fortification of what is most wicked. But the root of the just shall prosper.	12 Schwankender Lehm ist die Burg der Bösen, die Wurzel der Gerechten hat festen Grund.
13 For the sins of the lips draw ruin to the evil. But the just shall escape from distress.	13 Der Böse verfängt sich im Lügengespinst, der Gerechte entkommt der Bedrängnis.
14 By the fruit of his own mouth, each one shall be filled with good things, and according to the works of his own hands, it will be distributed to him.	14 Von der Frucht seines Mundes wird der Mensch reichlich gesättigt, nach dem Tun seiner Hände wird ihm vergolten.
15 The way of the foolish is right in his own eyes. But whoever is wise listens to counsels.	15 Der Tor hält sein eigenes Urteil für richtig, der Weise aber hört auf Rat.
16 The senseless immediately reveals his anger. But whoever ignores injuries is clever.	16 Der Tor zeigt sogleich seinen Ärger, klug ist, wer Schimpfworte einsteckt.
17 He is a sign of justice, who speaks what he knows. But whoever deceives is a dishonest witness.	17 Wer Wahrheit spricht, sagt aus, was recht ist, der falsche Zeuge aber betrügt.
18 He who makes promises is also jabbed, as if with a sword, in conscience. But the tongue of the wise is reasonable.	18 Mancher Leute Gerede verletzt wie Schwertstiche, die Zunge der Weisen bringt Heilung.
19 The lips of truth shall be steadfast forever. But a hasty witness readies a lying tongue.	19 Ein Mund, der die Wahrheit sagt, hat für immer Bestand, eine lügnerische Zunge nur einen Augenblick.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evils. But gladness follows those who take up counsels of peace.	20 Wer auf Böses sinnt, betrügt sich selbst, wer heilsamen Rat gibt, erntet Freude.
21 Whatever may befall the just, it will not discourage him. But the impious will be filled with disasters.	21 Kein Unheil trifft den Gerechten, doch die Frevler erdrückt das Unglück.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord. But whoever acts faithfully pleases him.	22 Lügnerische Lippen sind dem Herrn ein Gräuel, doch wer zuverlässig ist in seinem Tun, der gefällt ihm.
23 A resourceful man conceals knowledge. And the heart of the unwise provokes foolishness.	23 Ein kluger Mensch verbirgt sein Wissen, das Herz der Toren schreit die Narrheit hinaus.
24 The hand of the strong will rule. But anyone who is neglectful will pay tribute.	24 Die Hand der Fleißigen erringt die Herrschaft, die lässige Hand muss Frondienste leisten.
25 Grief in the heart of a man humbles him. And with a good word he shall be made glad.	25 Kummer im Herzen bedrückt den Menschen, ein gutes Wort aber heitert ihn auf.
26 He who ignores a loss for the sake of a friend is just. But the way of the impious will deceive them.	26 Der Gerechte findet fette Weide, der Weg der Frevler führt in die Irre.
27 The dishonest will not discover gain. But the substance of a man will be like precious gold.	27 Bequemlichkeit erjagt sich kein Wild, kostbare Güter erlangt der Fleißige.
28 In the path of justice, there is life. But the devious way leads to death.	28 Der Pfad der Gerechtigkeit führt zum Leben, der Weg der Abtrünnigen führt zum Tod.
