Psalms 70

1 A Psalm of David. Of the sons of Jonadab and the former captives. In you, O Lord, I have hoped; do not let me be brought to ruin forever.	1 - Salmo di David, dei figliuoli di Jonadab e dei primi prigionieri. In te, o Signore, io spero: ch'io non sia confuso in eterno!
2 Free me by your justice, and rescue me. Incline your ear to me, and save me.	2 Per la tua giustizia scampami e liberami: piega verso di me il tuo orecchio e salvami.
3 Be a God of protection and a place of strength for me, so that you may accomplish my salvation. For you are my firmament and my refuge.	3 Sii per me un Dio protettore e una rocca munita per mettermi in salvo. Chè la mia fortezza e il mio rifugio se' tu!
4 Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the sinner, and from the hand of the unjust and those who act against the law.	4 Dio mio, liberami dalla mano dell'empio e dalla mano di chi pecca contro la legge e dell'iniquo.
5 For you, O Lord, are my patience: my hope from my youth, O Lord.	5 Perchè tu sei la mia fiducia, o Signore, la mia speranza, o Signore, [fin] dalla mia giovinezza.
6 In you, I have been confirmed from conception. From my mother’s womb, you are my protector. In you, I will sing forever.	6 Su te m'appoggiai [fin] dal seno materno, e [fin] dalle viscere di mia madre tu sei il mio protettore. A te [si volge] il mio canto sempre!
7 I have become to many as if I were a portent, but you are a strong helper.	7 Quasi un portento [d'infelicità] son diventato per molti; ma un potente soccorritore tu sei!
8 Let my mouth be filled with praise, so that I may sing your glory, your greatness all day long.	8 Si riempia la mia bocca di lode, per cantar la tua gloria, [per cantare] ogni giorno la tua magnificenza!
9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age. Do not abandon me when my strength will fail.	9 Non mi rigettar nel tempo della vecchiaia; quando vien meno la mia forza, non m'abbandonare.
10 For my enemies have spoken against me. And those who watched for my soul have taken counsel as one,	10 Perchè han parlato di me i miei nemici, e quei che spian l'anima mia si son concertati insieme,
11 saying: “God has abandoned him. Pursue and overtake him. For there is no one to rescue him.”	11 dicendo: «Iddio l'ha abbandonato, inseguitelo, afferratelo, chè non c'è chi [lo] scampi!».
12 O God, do not be far from me. O my God, provide for my assistance.	12 O Dio, non t'allontanar da me: mio Dio, volgiti [e affrettati] in mio aiuto!
13 May they be confounded, and may they fail, who drag down my soul. Let them be covered with confusion and shame, who seek evils for me.	13 Sian confusi e annientati gli avversari dell'anima mia: sian coperti di confusione e di vergogna quei che cercan sciagure a me!
14 But I will always have hope. And I will add more to all your praise.	14 Io poi sempre spererò, e [nuova lode] aggiungerò a tutte le tue lodi.
15 My mouth will announce your justice, your salvation all day long. For I have not known letters.	15 La mia bocca celebrerà la tua giustizia, [celebrerà] ogni giorno la tua salvezza, benchè calcolarle non so!
16 I will enter into the powers of the Lord. I will be mindful of your justice alone, O Lord.	16 M'addentrerò nelle potenti geste del Signore; o Signore, ricorderò la tua giustizia sola!
17 You have taught me from my youth, O God. And so I will declare your wonders continuously,	17 O Dio, tu m'hai istruito [fin] dalla mia giovinezza, e fino ad ora ho proclamato le tue meraviglie.
18 even in old age and with grey hairs. Do not abandon me, O God, while I announce your arm to every future generation: your power	18 Ed anche nella vecchiaia e nella decrepitezza, o Dio, non m'abbandonare; sicchè io annunzi il tuo braccio a ogni generazione a venire, la tua potenza
19 and your justice, O God, even to the highest great things that you have done. O God, who is like you?	19 e la tua giustizia, o Dio, sino a' [cieli] altissimi, le grandi geste che hai compiute! O Dio, chi simile a te?
20 How great is the tribulation that you have revealed to me: very great and evil. And so, turning back, you have brought me to life, and you have led me back again from the abyss of the earth.	20 Tribolazioni m'hai fatto provare, molte e tristi! ma poi novamente m'hai vivificato, e dagli abissi della terra di nuovo m'hai tratto fuori.
21 You have multiplied your magnificence. And so, turning back to me, you have consoled me.	21 Hai moltiplicato la tua magnificenza, e novamente m'hai consolato.
22 Therefore, I will confess your truth to you, with the instruments of the Psalter. O God, I will sing psalms to you with stringed instruments, O Holy One of Israel.	22 Io ti loderò su strumenti d'arpa, [celebrando] la tua fedeltà, o Dio: inneggerò a te sulla cetra, o Santo d'Israele!
23 My lips will exult, when I sing to you, and also my soul, which you have redeemed.	23 Esulteranno le mie labbra cantando a te, e [giubilerà] l'anima mia, che hai liberata.
24 And even my tongue will meditate on your justice all day long, when those who seek evils for me have been confounded and set in awe.	24 Anche la mia lingua tutto il dì celebrerà la tua giustizia, quando confusi e svergognati saranno quei che cercan la mia rovina!
