1 A Psalm of David, when he was in the desert of Idumea.	1 Au maître de chant. À Yédoutoun. Psaume de David.
2 O God, my God: to you, I keep vigil until first light. For you, my soul has thirsted, to you my body, in so many ways.	2 En Dieu seul mon âme se repose, c’est de lui que j’attends mon salut.
3 By a deserted land, both inaccessible and waterless, so I have appeared in the sanctuary before you, in order to behold your virtue and your glory.	3 Il est mon rocher, mon sauveur, s’il est ma citadelle je ne broncherai pas.
4 For your mercy is better than life itself. It is you my lips will praise.	4 Jusqu’à quand vous lancerez-vous, tous contre un, pour le démolir ensemble, comme on renverse un mur, comme on enfonce une clôture?
5 So will I bless you in my life, and I will lift up my hands in your name.	5 Tous leurs projets visent à tromper, ils ne font que mentir; des lèvres ils bénissent, mais le cœur voudrait maudire.
6 Let my soul be filled, as if with marrow and fatness; and my mouth will give praise with exultant lips.	6 En Dieu seul, ô mon âme, sera ton repos, car je n’ai d’espoir qu’en lui.
7 When I have remembered you on my bed in the morning, I will meditate on you.	7 Il est mon salut, mon sauveur, s’il est ma citadelle je ne broncherai pas.
8 For you have been my helper. And I will exult under the cover of your wings.	8 En Dieu est mon salut, en lui ma gloire, il est la roche qui fait ma force, mon refuge, c’est Dieu.
9 My soul has clung close to you. Your right hand has supported me.	9 Vous de même, ô mon peuple, espérez en lui toujours, ouvrez-lui votre cœur, Dieu est notre refuge.
10 Truly, these ones have sought my soul in vain. They will enter into the lower parts of the earth.	10 Les fils d’Adam ne pèsent guère, et les enfants des grands, qui peut compter sur eux? Faites-les monter sur la balance, tous ensemble feront le poids d’une poussière!
11 They will be delivered into the hand of the sword. They will be the portions of foxes.	11 Ne misez pas sur la violence, n’espérez rien de l’injustice, si vos richesses augmentent, n’y mettez pas le cœur.
12 Truly, the king will rejoice in God: all those who swear by him will be praised, because the mouth of those who speak iniquity has been blocked.	12 Car Dieu n’a dit qu’une parole, mais j’ai entendu ces deux choses: la puissance n’appartient qu’à Dieu,
	13 et la bonté, Seigneur, est encore à toi. Tu sais rendre à chacun selon ses œuvres.
