1 Unto the end. For the tasks of early morning. A Psalm of David.	1 - Al corifeo: su «Cerva dell'aurora». Salmo di David.
2 O God, my God, look upon me. Why have you forsaken me? Far from my salvation are the words of my offenses.	2 Dio, Dio mio, guarda a me: perché m'hai abbandonato? Lungi dalla mia salvezza stan le voci de' miei falli!
3 My God, I will cry out by day, and you will not heed, and by night, and it will not be foolishness for me.	3 Dio mio, io grido il giorno e non m'esaudisci, e la notte [io grido] e non v'ha quiete per me.
4 But you dwell in holiness, O Praise of Israel.	4 Eppure nel santuario tu risiedi, lode d'Israele!
5 In you, our fathers have hoped. They hoped, and you freed them.	5 In te sperarono i nostri padri, sperarono e li liberasti.
6 They cried out to you, and they were saved. In you, they hoped and were not confounded.	6 A te levarono il grido e furon salvi, sperarono in te e non furono delusi.
7 But I am a worm and not a man: a disgrace among men, and an outcast of the people.	7 Ma un verme son io e non un uomo, [son] l'obbrobrio degli uomini e lo spregio del popolo.
8 All those who saw me have derided me. They have spoken with the lips and shook the head.	8 Quanti mi vedono, mi scherniscono, sussurran con le labbra e scuotono il capo:
9 He has hoped in the Lord, let him rescue him. Let him save him because he chooses him.	9 «Ha sperato nel Signore, ch'egli lo liberi!che lo salvi, giacché gli vuol bene!».
10 For you are the one who has drawn me out of the womb, my hope from the breasts of my mother.	10 Sei tu invero che m'hai tratto fuori dal seno [materno], tu mia speranza già sulle poppe della mia mamma.
11 I have been thrown upon you from the womb; from the womb of my mother, you are my God.	11 Su te fui gettato [all'uscir] dall'utero, fin dal seno di mia madre tu sei il mio Dio.
12 Do not depart from me. For tribulation is near, since there is no one who may help me.	12 Non t'allontanar da me, perché la tribolazione è prossima, perché non v'è chi [mi] soccorra.
13 Many calves have surrounded me; fat bulls have besieged me.	13 M'han circondato giovenchi in gran numero, pingui tori m'hanno assediato.
14 They have opened their mouths over me, just like a lion seizing and roaring.	14 Spalancan contro di me la lor gola, come leone che addenta e rugge.
15 And so, I have been poured out like water, and all my bones have been scattered. My heart has become like wax, melting in the midst of my chest.	15 Come acqua mi son effuso, e slogate si son tutte le mie ossa: s'è fatto il mio cuore come cera, s'è squagliato in mezzo alle mie viscere.
16 My strength has dried up like clay, and my tongue has adhered to my jaws. And you have pulled me down, into the dust of death.	16 Inaridito, come un coccio, è il mio vigore, e la mia lingua mi s'è attaccata alle fauci: alla polvere della morte m'hai ridotto!
17 For many dogs have surrounded me. The council of the malicious has besieged me. They have pierced my hands and feet.	17 Poichè m'han circondato cani in gran numero, una turba di malfattori m'han assediato: hanno trafitto le mie mani e i miei piedi.
18 They have numbered all my bones. And they have examined me and stared at me.	18 Si contan tutte le mie ossa, ed essi guardano e mi osservano.
19 They divided my garments among them, and over my vestment, they cast lots.	19 Si son divisi i miei panni, e sulla mia veste han gettato la sorte.
20 But you, O Lord, do not take your help far from me; be attentive to my defense.	20 Ma tu, o Signore, non allontanar da me il tuo soccorso, volgiti a mia difesa.
21 O God, rescue my soul from the spear, and my only one from the hand of the dog.	21 Libera dalla spada l'anima miae dalla zampa del cane l'unico mio [bene].
22 Save me from the mouth of the lion, and my humility from the horns of single-horned beast.	22 Salvami dalle fauci del leone, e dalle corna de' bufali [salva] la mia impotenza.
23 I will declare your name to my brothers. In the midst of the Church, I will praise you.	23 Racconterò il tuo nome a' miei fratelli, nel mezzo dell'adunanza ti loderò;
24 You who fear the Lord, praise him. All the offspring of Jacob, glorify him.	24 «O voi che temete il Signore, dategli lode; stirpe tutta di Giacobbe, glorificatelo:
25 May all the offspring of Israel fear him. For he has neither spurned nor despised the pleas of the poor. Neither has he turned his face away from me. And when I cried out to him, he heeded me.	25 lo tema tutta la progenie d'Israele. Perchè non disprezzò nè ebbe a vile la preghiera del misero, nè rivolse la sua faccia da me, ma quando a lui gridai, m'esaudì».
26 My praise is with you, within a great church. I will pay my vows in the sight of those who fear him.	26 Su te [si fermerà] la mia lode in numerosa riunione, i miei voti scioglierò al cospetto de' tuoi fedeli.
27 The poor will eat and be satisfied, and those who yearn for the Lord will praise him. Their hearts will live forever and ever.	27 Mangeranno i poveri e si satolleranno, e loderanno il Signore quei che lo cercano: vivranno i loro cuori in eterno.
28 All the ends of the earth will remember, and they will be converted to the Lord. And all the families of the Gentiles will adore in his sight.	28 Ricorderanno e si volgeranno al Signore tutti i confini della terra, e adoranti si curveranno al suo cospetto le famiglie tutte delle genti.
29 For the kingdom belongs to the Lord, and he will have dominion over the Gentiles.	29 Perché del Signore è il regno, ed egli è il dominator delle genti.
30 All the fat of the earth have gnashed their teeth, and they have adored. In his sight, they will fall down, all those who descend to the ground.	30 Mangeranno e adoreranno i potenti della terra, al suo cospetto si prostreranno quei che scendon nella polvere.
31 And my soul will live for him, and my offspring will serve him.	31 E l'anima mia vivrà per luie la mia stirpe a lui servirà.
32 There will be announced for the Lord a future generation, and the heavens will announce his justice to a people who will be born, whom the Lord has made.	32 Darà il suo nome al Signore la generazione ventura, e annunzieranno i cieli la giustizia di lui al popolo che nascerà, [al nuovo popolo] che il Signore ha formato [per sè].
