Psalms 13

1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David. The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They were corrupted, and they have become abominable in their studies. There is no one who does good; there is not even one.	1 (Per la fine. Salmo di David). Lo stolto dice nel suo cuore: « Dio non esiste ». Son corrotti, son divenuti abbominevoli nelle loro passioni, non c'è nessuno che faccia il bene, neppure uno.
2 The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, to see if there were any who were considering or seeking God.	2 Il Signore dal cielo volge lo sguardo sui figli degli uomini, per vedere se ce n'è uno che capisca o che ricerchi Dio.
3 They have all gone astray; together they have become useless. There is no one who does good; there is not even one.	3 Tutti sono usciti di strada e resi ugualmente inutili, non c'è nessuno che faccia il bene, neppure uno. La loro gola è un sepolcro spalancato, colle loro lingue tessono inganni, veleno d'aspidi sotto le loro labbra. La loro bocca è piena di maledizioni e di amarezza, corrono i loro piedi a spargere il sangue. Nelle loro vie v'è la distruzione e la miseria, non han conosciuta la via della pace, non han dinanzi agli occhi il timor di Dio.
4 Their throat is an open sepulcher. With their tongues, they have been acting deceitfully; the venom of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.	4 Non se ne avvedranno tutti gli operatori d'iniquità, quei che divorano il mio popolo come un pezzo di pane?
5 Their feet are swift to shed blood. Grief and unhappiness are in their ways; and the way of peace, they have not known.	5 Non hanno invocato il Signore: là tremaron di paura dove non c'era di che temere,
6 There is no fear of God before their eyes.	6 Perchè il Signore sta colla generazione dei giusti. Voi vi face ste beffe del consiglio del povero, ma il Signore è la sua speranza.
7 Who will grant the salvation of Israel from Zion? When the Lord turns away the captivity of his people, Jacob will exult, and Israel will rejoice.	7 Chi darà da Sionne la salvezza ad Israele? Quando il Signore farà tornare dalla schiavitù il suo popolo, esulterà Giacobbe, si rallegrerà Israele.
