Psalms 125

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINKING JAMES BIBLE
1 A Canticle in steps. When the Lord turned back the captivity of Zion, we became like those who are consoled.1 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
2 Then our mouth was filled with gladness and our tongue with exultation. Then they will say among the nations: “The Lord has done great things for them.”2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
3 The Lord has done great things for us. We have become joyful.3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
4 Convert our captivity, O Lord, like a torrent in the south.4 Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.
5 Those who sow in tears shall reap in exultation.5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.
6 When departing, they went forth and wept, sowing their seeds.
7 But when returning, they will arrive with exultation, carrying their sheaves.
