CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINKING JAMES BIBLE
A Canticle in steps. I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains; from thence help will come to me.1 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.
My help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
May he not allow your foot to be moved, and may he not slumber, who guards you.3 What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
Behold, he who guards Israel will neither sleep, nor slumber.4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
The Lord is your keeper, the Lord is your protection, above your right hand.5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!
The sun will not burn you by day, nor the moon by night.6 My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.
The Lord guards you from all evil. May the Lord guard your soul.7 I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
May the Lord guard your entrance and your exit, from this time forward and even forever.
