1 And behold, by the word of the Lord, a man of God went from Judah to Bethel, when Jeroboam was standing over the altar, and burning incense.	1 και ιδου ανθρωπος του θεου εξ ιουδα παρεγενετο εν λογω κυριου εις βαιθηλ και ιεροβοαμ ειστηκει επι το θυσιαστηριον του επιθυσαι
2 And by the word of the Lord, he cried out against the altar. And he said: “O altar, O altar! Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, a son will be born to the house of David, Josiah by name. And upon you, he will immolate the priests of the high places, who now burn incense upon you. And upon you, he will burn up the bones of men.’ ”	2 και επεκαλεσεν προς το θυσιαστηριον εν λογω κυριου και ειπεν θυσιαστηριον θυσιαστηριον ταδε λεγει κυριος ιδου υιος τικτεται τω οικω δαυιδ ιωσιας ονομα αυτω και θυσει επι σε τους ιερεις των υψηλων τους επιθυοντας επι σε και οστα ανθρωπων καυσει επι σε
3 And he gave a sign on the same day, saying: “This will be the sign that the Lord has spoken. Behold, the altar shall be torn apart, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.”	3 και εδωκεν εν τη ημερα εκεινη τερας λεγων τουτο το ρημα ο ελαλησεν κυριος λεγων ιδου το θυσιαστηριον ρηγνυται και εκχυθησεται η πιοτης η επ' αυτω
4 And when the king had heard the word of the man of God, which he had cried out against the altar at Bethel, he extended his hand from the altar, saying, “Apprehend him!” But his hand, which he had extended against him, withered. And he was unable to draw it back to himself.	4 και εγενετο ως ηκουσεν ο βασιλευς ιεροβοαμ των λογων του ανθρωπου του θεου του επικαλεσαμενου επι το θυσιαστηριον το εν βαιθηλ και εξετεινεν ο βασιλευς την χειρα αυτου απο του θυσιαστηριου λεγων συλλαβετε αυτον και ιδου εξηρανθη η χειρ αυτου ην εξετεινεν επ' αυτον και ουκ ηδυνηθη επιστρεψαι αυτην προς εαυτον
5 Also, the altar was torn apart, and the ashes were poured out from the altar, in accord with the sign that the man of God had predicted by the word of the Lord.	5 και το θυσιαστηριον ερραγη και εξεχυθη η πιοτης απο του θυσιαστηριου κατα το τερας ο εδωκεν ο ανθρωπος του θεου εν λογω κυριου
6 And the king said to the man of God, “Entreat the face of the Lord your God, and pray for me, so that my hand may be restored to me.” And the man of God prayed before the face of the Lord, and the hand of the king was restored to him, and it became as it had been before.	6 και ειπεν ο βασιλευς ιεροβοαμ τω ανθρωπω του θεου δεηθητι του προσωπου κυριου του θεου σου και επιστρεψατω η χειρ μου προς με και εδεηθη ο ανθρωπος του θεου του προσωπου κυριου και επεστρεψεν την χειρα του βασιλεως προς αυτον και εγενετο καθως το προτερον
7 Then the king said to the man of God: “Come home with me, so that you may dine. And I will give you gifts.”	7 και ελαλησεν ο βασιλευς προς τον ανθρωπον του θεου εισελθε μετ' εμου εις οικον και αριστησον και δωσω σοι δομα
8 And the man of God responded to the king: “Even if you will give me one half part of your house, I will not go with you, nor eat bread, nor drink water in this place.	8 και ειπεν ο ανθρωπος του θεου προς τον βασιλεα εαν μοι δως το ημισυ του οικου σου ουκ εισελευσομαι μετα σου ουδε μη φαγω αρτον ουδε μη πιω υδωρ εν τω τοπω τουτω
9 For so it was commanded to me by the word of the Lord, ordering: ‘You shall not eat bread, and you shall not drink water, nor shall you return by the way that you came.’ ”	9 οτι ουτως ενετειλατο μοι εν λογω κυριος λεγων μη φαγης αρτον και μη πιης υδωρ και μη επιστρεψης εν τη οδω η επορευθης εν αυτη
10 Then he departed by another way, and he did not return along the way that he had traveled to Bethel.	10 και απηλθεν εν οδω αλλη και ουκ ανεστρεψεν εν τη οδω η ηλθεν εν αυτη εις βαιθηλ
11 Now a certain elderly prophet was living in Bethel. His sons went to him, and they described to him all the works which the man of God had accomplished on that day in Bethel. And they described to their father the words that he had spoken to the king.	11 και προφητης εις πρεσβυτης κατωκει εν βαιθηλ και ερχονται οι υιοι αυτου και διηγησαντο αυτω απαντα τα εργα α εποιησεν ο ανθρωπος του θεου εν τη ημερα εκεινη εν βαιθηλ και τους λογους ους ελαλησεν τω βασιλει και επεστρεψαν το προσωπον του πατρος αυτων
12 And their father said to them, “By which way did he depart?” His sons showed him the way by which the man of God, who had come from Judah, had departed.	12 και ελαλησεν προς αυτους ο πατηρ αυτων λεγων ποια οδω πεπορευται και δεικνυουσιν αυτω οι υιοι αυτου την οδον εν η ανηλθεν ο ανθρωπος του θεου ο ελθων εξ ιουδα
13 And he said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” And when they had saddled it, he climbed on,	13 και ειπεν τοις υιοις αυτου επισαξατε μοι τον ονον και επεσαξαν αυτω τον ονον και επεβη επ' αυτον
14 and he went away after the man of God. And he found him sitting under a terebinth tree. And he said to him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” And he responded, “I am.”	14 και επορευθη κατοπισθεν του ανθρωπου του θεου και ευρεν αυτον καθημενον υπο δρυν και ειπεν αυτω ει συ ει ο ανθρωπος του θεου ο εληλυθως εξ ιουδα και ειπεν αυτω εγω
15 And he said to him, “Come home with me, so that you may eat bread.”	15 και ειπεν αυτω δευρο μετ' εμου και φαγε αρτον
16 But he said: “I am not able to turn back, nor to go with you. Neither will I eat bread, or drink water in this place.	16 και ειπεν ου μη δυνωμαι του επιστρεψαι μετα σου ουδε μη φαγομαι αρτον ουδε πιομαι υδωρ εν τω τοπω τουτω
17 For the Lord has spoken to me, by the word of the Lord, saying, “You shall not eat bread, and you shall not drink water in that place, nor shall you return by the way that you arrived.”	17 οτι ουτως εντεταλται μοι εν λογω κυριος λεγων μη φαγης αρτον εκει και μη πιης υδωρ εκει και μη επιστρεψης εν τη οδω η επορευθης εν αυτη
18 And he said to him: “I, too, am a prophet like you. And an Angel spoke to me, by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘Lead him back with you to your house, so that he may eat bread, and drink water.’ ” And so he deceived him.	18 και ειπεν προς αυτον καγω προφητης ειμι καθως συ και αγγελος λελαληκεν προς με εν ρηματι κυριου λεγων επιστρεψον αυτον προς σεαυτον εις τον οικον σου και φαγετω αρτον και πιετω υδωρ και εψευσατο αυτω
19 And he led him back with him. Then he ate bread and drank water in his house.	19 και επεστρεψεν αυτον και εφαγεν αρτον και επιεν υδωρ εν τω οικω αυτου
20 And while they were sitting at table, the word of the Lord came to the prophet who had led him back.	20 και εγενετο αυτων καθημενων επι της τραπεζης και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς τον προφητην τον επιστρεψαντα αυτον
21 And he cried out to the man of God who had arrived from Judah, saying: “Thus says the Lord: Because you were not obedient to the mouth of the Lord, and you did not keep the commandment that the Lord your God instructed to you,	21 και ειπεν προς τον ανθρωπον του θεου τον ηκοντα εξ ιουδα λεγων ταδε λεγει κυριος ανθ' ων παρεπικρανας το ρημα κυριου και ουκ εφυλαξας την εντολην ην ενετειλατο σοι κυριος ο θεος σου
22 and you turned back, and ate bread, and drank water in the place where he commanded you that you should not eat bread, nor drink water: your dead body shall not be carried back to the sepulcher of your fathers.”	22 και επεστρεψας και εφαγες αρτον και επιες υδωρ εν τω τοπω τουτω ω ελαλησεν προς σε λεγων μη φαγης αρτον και μη πιης υδωρ ου μη εισελθη το σωμα σου εις τον ταφον των πατερων σου
23 And when he had eaten and had drunk, he saddled his donkey for the prophet whom he had led back.	23 και εγενετο μετα το φαγειν αρτον και πιειν υδωρ και επεσαξεν αυτω τον ονον και επεστρεψεν
24 And when he had departed, a lion found him along the way, and it killed him, and his dead body was left upon the road. Now the donkey was standing beside him. And the lion was standing beside the dead body.	24 και απηλθεν και ευρεν αυτον λεων εν τη οδω και εθανατωσεν αυτον και ην το σωμα αυτου ερριμμενον εν τη οδω και ο ονος ειστηκει παρ' αυτο και ο λεων ειστηκει παρα το σωμα
25 And behold, men who were passing by saw the dead body lying in the road, with the lion standing beside the body. And they went and made it widely known in the city where that elderly prophet was living.	25 και ιδου ανδρες παραπορευομενοι και ειδον το θνησιμαιον ερριμμενον εν τη οδω και ο λεων ειστηκει εχομενα του θνησιμαιου και εισηλθον και ελαλησαν εν τη πολει ου ο προφητης ο πρεσβυτης κατωκει εν αυτη
26 And when that prophet, who had led him back from the way, had heard it, he said: “It is the man of God, who was disobedient to the mouth of the Lord. And the Lord has delivered him to the lion. And it has torn him apart and killed him, in accord with the word of the Lord, which he spoke to him.”	26 και ηκουσεν ο επιστρεψας αυτον εκ της οδου και ειπεν ο ανθρωπος του θεου ουτος εστιν ος παρεπικρανε το ρημα κυριου
27 And he said to his sons, “Saddle a donkey for me.” And when they had saddled it,	27 -
28 and he had departed, he found the dead body lying on the road, with the donkey and the lion standing beside the dead body. The lion did not eat from the dead body, nor did it harm the donkey.	28 και επορευθη και ευρεν το σωμα αυτου ερριμμενον εν τη οδω και ο ονος και ο λεων ειστηκεισαν παρα το σωμα και ουκ εφαγεν ο λεων το σωμα του ανθρωπου του θεου και ου συνετριψεν τον ονον
29 Then the prophet took the dead body of the man of God, and he placed it upon the donkey, and returning, he brought it into the city of the elderly prophet, so that he might mourn for him.	29 και ηρεν ο προφητης το σωμα του ανθρωπου του θεου και επεθηκεν αυτο επι τον ονον και επεστρεψεν αυτον εις την πολιν ο προφητης του θαψαι αυτον
30 And he placed his dead body in his own sepulcher. And they mourned for him, saying: “Alas! Alas! My brother!”	30 εν τω ταφω εαυτου και εκοψαντο αυτον ουαι αδελφε
31 And when they had mourned over him, he said to his sons: “When I will have died, bury me in the sepulcher in which the man of God was buried. Place my bones beside his bones.	31 και εγενετο μετα το κοψασθαι αυτον και ειπεν τοις υιοις αυτου λεγων εαν αποθανω θαψατε με εν τω ταφω τουτω ου ο ανθρωπος του θεου τεθαπται εν αυτω παρα τα οστα αυτου θετε με ινα σωθωσι τα οστα μου μετα των οστων αυτου
32 For certainly, the word will arrived, which he predicted by the word of the Lord, against the altar, which is in Bethel, and against all the shrines of the high places, which are in the cities of Samaria.”	32 οτι γινομενον εσται το ρημα ο ελαλησεν εν λογω κυριου επι του θυσιαστηριου του εν βαιθηλ και επι τους οικους τους υψηλους τους εν σαμαρεια
33 After these words, Jeroboam did not turn back from his very evil way. Instead, to the contrary, he made priests for the high places out of the least of the people. Whosoever was willing, he filled his hand, and he became a priest of the high places.	33 και μετα το ρημα τουτο ουκ επεστρεψεν ιεροβοαμ απο της κακιας αυτου και επεστρεψεν και εποιησεν εκ μερους του λαου ιερεις υψηλων ο βουλομενος επληρου την χειρα αυτου και εγινετο ιερευς εις τα υψηλα
34 And for this reason, the house of Jeroboam sinned, and was uprooted, and was wiped from the face of the earth.	34 και εγενετο το ρημα τουτο εις αμαρτιαν τω οικω ιεροβοαμ και εις ολεθρον και εις αφανισμον απο προσωπου της γης
