1 The heads of the Levite families came up to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua, son of Nun, and to the heads of families of the other tribes of the Israelites	1 E andarono tutti i principi delle famiglie di Levi ad Eleazaro (sommo) sacerdote (e prete), a Iosuè figliuolo di Nun e a tutti i duchi de' parentadi, per tutte le schiatte de' figliuoli d' Israel.
2 at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, and said to them, "The LORD commanded, through Moses, that cities be given us to dwell in, with pasture lands for our livestock."	2 E parlarono loro in Silo della terra di Canaan, e sì disseno: Iddio Signore sì comandò per mano di Moisè, che ci fossono date cittadi per abitare, e' borghi loro a pascere (e a conservare) gli animali.
3 Out of their own heritage, in obedience to this command of the LORD, the Israelites gave the Levites the following cities with their pasture lands.	3 E diedono i figliuoli d' Israel delle possessioni loro, secondo il comandamento di Dio, cittadi e borghi loro.
4 When the first lot among the Levites fell to the clans of the Kohathites, the descendants of Aaron the priest obtained thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin.	4 E venne la (prima) sorte ai figliuoli di Caat de' figliuoli d' Aaron (sommo) sacerdote (e prete) delle schiatte di Giuda e di Simeon e di Beniamin; tredici cittadi;
5 The rest of the Kohathites obtained ten cities by lot from the clans of the tribe of Ephraim, from the tribe of Dan, and from the half-tribe of Manasseh.	5 e a quegli che rimaseno de' figliuoli di Caat, cioè (i preti e) i leviti i quali erano soperchiati (e stati più) delle schiatte di Efraim e di Dan e della metà della schiatta di Manasse; X cittadi.
6 The Gershonites obtained thirteen cities by lot from the clans of the tribe of Issachar, from the tribe of Asher, from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the half-tribe of Manasseh.	6 Ma ai figliuoli di Gerson poi venne la sorte, che togliessono delle schiatte di Issacar e di Aser e di Neftali e della mezza schiatta di Manasse, la quale istava in Basan, in numero di XIII cittadi.
7 The clans of the Merarites obtained twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.	7 E ai figliuoli di Merari, secondo i loro parentadi, delle schiatte di Ruben e di Gad e di Zabulon, XII cittadi.
8 These cities with their pasture lands the Israelites allotted to the Levites in obedience to the LORD'S command through Moses.	8 E diedero i figliuoli d'Israel ai leviti le cittadi e borghi loro, come Iddio avea comandato per mano di Moisè, dividendo a ciascheduno per sorte.
9 From the tribes of the Judahites and Simeonites they designated the following cities,	9 Delle schiatte de' figliuoli di Giuda e di Simeon diede Iosuè certe cittadi, delle quali questi sono i nomi:
10 and assigned them to the descendants of Aaron in the Kohathite clan of the Levites, since the first lot fell to them:	10 Ai figliuoli di Aaron, per le famiglie di Caat della schiatta di Levi; imperciò che la prima sorte venne a loro fuori; fu data
11 first, Kiriath-arba (Arba was the father of Anak), that is, Hebron, in the mountain region of Judah, with the adjacent pasture lands,	11 Cariatarbe del padre di Enac, la quale si chiama Ebron, nel monte di Giuda, e' borghi suoi intorno intorno.
12 although the open country and villages belonging to the city had been given to Caleb, son of Jephunneh, as his property.	12 Ma i campi e le ville (di queste cittadi) avea dato a Caleb, figliuolo di Iefone, a possedere.
13 Thus to the descendants of Aaron the priest were given the city of asylum for homicides at Hebron, with its pasture lands; also, Libnah with its pasture lands,	13 Adunque alli figliuoli di Aaron [diede] Ebron, la quale si è cittade di rifugio, col (suo sobborgo e) li suoi borghi, e la città di Lebna co' borghi suoi,
14 Jattir with its pasture lands, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,	14 e anco Ieter ed Estemo,
15 Holon with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands,	15 e Olon, Dabir,
16 Ashan with its pasture lands, Juttah with its pasture lands, and Beth-shemesh with its pasture lands: nine cities from the two tribes mentioned.	16 e Ain, Ieta e Betsames co' suoi borghi; le quali sono in tutto cittadi nove, come è detto, di due schiatte.
17 From the tribe of Benjamin they obtained the four cities of Gibeon with its pasture lands, Geba with its pasture lands,	17 Ma della schiatta de' figliuoli di Beniamin sì sono Gabaon e Gabae,
18 Anathoth with its pasture lands, and Almon with its pasture lands.	18 e Anatot e Almon coi loro borghi: sono in tutto quattro cittadi.
19 These cities which with their pasture lands belonged to the priestly descendants of Aaron, were thirteen in all.	19 E tutte quante insieme le cittadi de' figliuoli di Aaron (sommo) sacerdote sì sono XIII co' loro borghi.
20 The rest of the Kohathite clans among the Levites obtained by lot, from the tribe of Ephraim, four cities.	20 A quelli che rimasero, per famiglie, de' figliuoli di Caat della schiatta di Levi, questa si è la possessione data loro:
21 They were assigned, with its pasture lands, the city of asylum for homicides at Shechem in the mountain region of Ephraim; also Gezer with its pasture lands,	21 Della schiatta di Efraim, le città del rifugio, (chiamata) Sichem, con li borghi suoi nel monte di Efraim, e Gazer,
22 Kibzaim with its pasture lands, and Beth-horon with its pasture lands.	22 e Cibsaim e Betoron co' borghi suoi; cittadi quattro.
23 From the tribe of Dan they obtained the four cities of Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands,	23 Della schiatta di Dan fue Elteco e Gabaton,
24 Aijalon with its pasture lands, and Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands;	24 e Aialon e Getremmon co' loro borghi; sono cittadi quattro.
25 and from the half-tribe of Manasseh the two cities of Taanach with its pasture lands and Ibleam with its pasture lands.	25 Ma della metà della schiatta di Manasse fue Tanac e Getremmon co' borghi loro; cittadi due.
26 These cities which with their pasture lands belonged to the rest of the Kohathite clans were ten in all.	26 E (sono) tutte queste X, e li borghi loro, furono date ai figliuoli di Caat, i quali erano in minore grado.
27 The Gershonite clan of the Levites received from the half-tribe of Manasseh two cities: the city of asylum for homicides at Golan, with its pasture lands; and also Beth-ashtaroth with its pasture lands.	27 Ma i figliuoli di Gerson, della schiatta di Levi, sì diede loro della mezza schiatta di Manasse, le città di rifugio, loro borghi; sono Gaulon in Basan e Bosram, coi due cittadi.
28 From the tribe of Issachar they obtained the four cities of Kishion with its pasture lands, Daberath with its pasture lands,	28 Ma della schiatta d'Issacar: Cesion e Daberet

31 Helkath with its pasture lands, and Rehob with its pasture lands;	31 ed Elcat e Roob colli borghi loro; sono cittadi quattro.
32 and from the tribe of Naphtali, three cities: the city of asylum for homicides at Kedesh in Galilee, with its pasture lands; also Hammath with its pasture lands, and Rakkath with its pasture lands.	32 Ma della schiatta di Neftali furono cittadi di rifugio, (prima) Cedes in Galilea e Ammot Dor e Cartan coi loro borghi; sono cittadi tre.
33 These cities which with their pasture lands belonged to the Gershonite clans were thirteen in all.	33 E furono tutte le cittadi delle famiglie di Gerson XIII, coi borghi loro.
34 The Merarite clans, the last of the Levites, received from the tribe of Zebulun the four cities of Jokneam with its pasture lands, Kartah with its pasture lands,	34 Ma i figliuoli di Merari della schiatta di Levi, di minore grado, secondo le loro famiglie fu data la sorte della schiatta di Zabulon, cioè Iecnam e Carta,
35 Rimmon with its pasture lands, and Nahalal with its pasture lands;	35 e Damna e Naalol; sono cittadi quattro coi borghi loro.
36 also, across the Jordan, from the tribe of Reuben, four cities: the city of asylum for homicides at Bezer with its pasture lands, Jahaz with its pasture lands,	36 E della schiatta di Ruben, di là dal (fiume) Giordano verso Gerico, furono date le città di rifugio, (in prima) Bosor nella solitudine, [Misor] e laser e Ietson e Mefaat; sono cittadi quattro colli loro borghï.
37 Kedemoth with its pasture lands, and Mephaath with its pasture lands;	37 E della schiatta di Gad furono date cittadi di rifugio, (prima) Ramot in Galaad e Manaim ed Esebon e lazer; sono cittadi quattro colli loro borghi.
38 and from the tribe of Gad a total of four cities: the city of asylum for homicides at Ramoth in Gilead with its pasture lands, also Mahanaim with its pasture lands,	38 E sono tutte le cittadi [de' figliuoli] di Merari XII, secondo i loro parentadi e famiglie.
39 Heshbon with its pasture lands, and Jazer with its pasture lands.	39 Adunque tutte quante le cittadi de' Leviti, nel mezzo della possessione de' figliuoli d' Israel, sì furono XLVIII
40 The cities which were allotted to the Merarite clans, the last of the Levites, were therefore twelve in all.	40 coi loro borghi; ciascune divise (e date) secondo le loro famiglie.
41 Thus the total number of cities within the territory of the Israelites which, with their pasture lands, belonged to the Levites, was forty-eight.	41 E diede Iddio Signore ai figliuoli d'Israel tutta la terra che giurò di dare a' padri loro; e sì la possedettero, e abitàrvi dentro.
42 With each and every one of these cities went the pasture lands round about it.	42 E fu data la pace di Dio a tutte le nazioni dintorno e non fue niuno ardito, cioè nemici, di contrastare loro; ma tutti tornarono nelli termini loro. (e comandamenti).
43 And so the LORD gave Israel all the land he had sworn to their fathers he would give them. Once they had conquered and occupied it,	43 E non fue una sola parola, la quale Iddio avesse promessa di fare loro, che la mutasse; ma per fatti fermi e veri e perpetuali ogni cosa compiette (e trasse a fine).
44 the LORD gave them peace on every side, just as he had promised their fathers. Not one of their enemies could withstand them; the LORD brought all their enemies under their power.
45 Not a single promise that the LORD made to the house of Israel was broken; every one was fulfilled.
