2 when Nathan the prophet came to him after his affair with Bathsheba.	2 Quando il profeta Natan andò da lui, che era andato con Betsabea.
3 Have mercy on me, God, in your goodness; in your abundant compassion blot out my offense.	3 Pietà di me, o Dio, nel tuo amore;nella tua grande misericordiacancella la mia iniquità.
4 Wash away all my guilt; from my sin cleanse me.	4 Lavami tutto dalla mia colpa,dal mio peccato rendimi puro.
5 For I know my offense; my sin is always before me.	5 Sì, le mie iniquità io le riconosco,il mio peccato mi sta sempre dinanzi.
6 Against you alone have I sinned; I have done such evil in your sight That you are just in your sentence, blameless when you condemn.	6 Contro di te, contro te solo ho peccato,quello che è male ai tuoi occhi, io l’ho fatto:così sei giusto nella tua sentenza,sei retto nel tuo giudizio.
7 True, I was born guilty, a sinner, even as my mother conceived me.	7 Ecco, nella colpa io sono nato,nel peccato mi ha concepito mia madre.
8 Still, you insist on sincerity of heart; in my inmost being teach me wisdom.	8 Ma tu gradisci la sincerità nel mio intimo,nel segreto del cuore mi insegni la sapienza.
9 Cleanse me with hyssop, that I may be pure; wash me, make me whiter than snow.	9 Aspergimi con rami d’issòpo e sarò puro;lavami e sarò più bianco della neve.
10 Let me hear sounds of joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.	10 Fammi sentire gioia e letizia:esulteranno le ossa che hai spezzato.
11 Turn away your face from my sins; blot out all my guilt.	11 Distogli lo sguardo dai miei peccati,cancella tutte le mie colpe.
12 A clean heart create for me, God; renew in me a steadfast spirit.	12 Crea in me, o Dio, un cuore puro,rinnova in me uno spirito saldo.
13 Do not drive me from your presence, nor take from me your holy spirit.	13 Non scacciarmi dalla tua presenzae non privarmi del tuo santo spirito.
14 Restore my joy in your salvation; sustain in me a willing spirit.	14 Rendimi la gioia della tua salvezza,sostienimi con uno spirito generoso.
15 I will teach the wicked your ways, that sinners may return to you.	15 Insegnerò ai ribelli le tue viee i peccatori a te ritorneranno.
16 Rescue me from death, God, my saving God, that my tongue may praise your healing power.	16 Liberami dal sangue, o Dio, Dio mia salvezza:la mia lingua esalterà la tua giustizia.
17 Lord, open my lips; my mouth will proclaim your praise.	17 Signore, apri le mie labbrae la mia bocca proclami la tua lode.
18 For you do not desire sacrifice; a burnt offering you would not accept.	18 Tu non gradisci il sacrificio;se offro olocausti, tu non li accetti.
19 My sacrifice, God, is a broken spirit; God, do not spurn a broken, humbled heart.	19 Uno spirito contrito è sacrificio a Dio;un cuore contrito e affranto tu, o Dio, non disprezzi.
20 Make Zion prosper in your good pleasure; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.	20 Nella tua bontà fa’ grazia a Sion,ricostruisci le mura di Gerusalemme.
21 Then you will be pleased with proper sacrifice, burnt offerings and holocausts; then bullocks will be offered on your altar.	21 Allora gradirai i sacrifici legittimi,l’olocausto e l’intera oblazione;allora immoleranno vittime sopra il tuo altare.
