Psalms 50

1 A psalm of Asaph. The LORD, the God of gods, has spoken and summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.	1 - Al corifeo. Salmo di David:
2 From Zion God shines forth. perfect in beauty.	2 quando andò da lui il profeta Natan, dopo ch'egli era stato con Betsabea.
3 Our God comes and will not be silent! Devouring fire precedes, storming fiercely round about.	3 Abbi pietà di me, o Dio, secondo la tua grande bontà, e secondo la moltitudine delle tue misericordie scancella il mio peccato.
4 God summons the heavens above and the earth to the judgment of his people:	4 Lavami abbondantemente dalla mia iniquità, e dal mio peccato mondami.
5 "Gather my faithful ones before me, those who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."	5 Perchè riconosco la mia iniquità, e il mio peccato è sempre dinanzi a me.
6 The heavens proclaim divine justice, for God alone is the judge. Selah	6 Contro te solo ho peccato, e ho fatto ciò ch' è male a' tuoi occhi. Sicchè tu sei giustificato nella tua sentenza, e inattaccabile nel tuo giudizio.
7 "Listen, my people, I will speak; Israel, I will testify against you; God, your God, am I.	7 Ecco infatti nell'iniquità fui concepito, e ne' peccati mi concepì mia madre!
8 Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you, nor for your holocausts, set before me daily.	8 Ecco, tuttavia, tu ami la fedeltà, e recondite e occulte cose di tua sapienza m'hai fatto conoscere.
9 I need no bullock from your house, no goats from your fold.	9 Aspergimi con l'issopo e sarò mondo; lavami, e sarò bianco più della neve.
10 For every animal of the forest is mine, beasts by the thousands on my mountains.	10 Fammi udire gaudio e letizia, ed esultino le mie ossa abbattute.
11 I know every bird of the heavens; the creatures of the field belong to me.	11 Rivolgi la tua faccia da' miei peccati, e tutte le mie iniquità cancella.
12 Were I hungry, I would not tell you, for mine is the world and all that fills it.	12 Un cuor puro crea in me, o Dio, e uno spirito retto [e saldo] rinnova nel mio seno.
13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?	13 Non mi rigettar dalla tua faccia, e il tuo santo Spirito non toglier via da me.
14 Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High.	14 Rendimi la gioia della tua salvazione, e con nobile [e generoso] spirito confortami.
15 Then call on me in time of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor me."	15 Insegnerò agl'iniqui le tue vie, e gli empi ritorneranno a te.
16 But to the wicked God says: "Why do you recite my commandments and profess my covenant with your lips?	16 Liberami dal reato di sangue, o Dio, Dio della mia salvezza, ed esulterà la mia lingua [celebrando] la tua giustizia.
17 You hate discipline; you cast my words behind you!	17 Signore, apri le mie labbra, e la mia bocca annunzierà la tua lode.
18 When you see thieves, you befriend them; with adulterers you throw in your lot.	18 Perchè se tu avessi voluto un sacrifizio, te l'avrei offerto: di olocausti non ti diletti!
19 You give your mouth free rein for evil; you harness your tongue to deceit.	19 Sacrifizio [accetto] a Dio è lo spirito compunto: un cuor contrito e umiliato, o Dio, tu non disprezzi.
20 You sit maligning your own kin, slandering the child of your own mother.	20 Mostrati benigno, o Signore, per la tua bontà, verso Sion, [fa'] che siano edificate le mura di Gerusalemme!
21 When you do these things should I be silent? Or do you think that I am like you? I accuse you, I lay the charge before you.	21 Allora accetterai il sacrifizio di giustizia, le oblazioni e gli olocausti; allora sul tuo altare porranno i giovenchi.
22 "Understand this, you who forget God, lest I attack you with no one to rescue.
23 Those who offer praise as a sacrifice honor me; to the obedient I will show the salvation of God."
