1 A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD build the house, they labor in vain who build. Unless the LORD guard the city, in vain does the guard keep watch.	1 'Canto delle ascensioni. Di Salomone.' Se il Signore non costruisce la casa, invano vi faticano i costruttori. Se il Signore non custodisce la città, invano veglia il custode.
2 It is vain for you to rise early and put off your rest at night, To eat bread earned by hard toil-- all this God gives to his beloved in sleep.	2 Invano vi alzate di buon mattino, tardi andate a riposare e mangiate pane di sudore: il Signore ne darà ai suoi amici nel sonno.
3 Children too are a gift from the LORD, the fruit of the womb, a reward.	3 Ecco, dono del Signore sono i figli, è sua grazia il frutto del grembo.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children born in one's youth.	4 Come frecce in mano a un eroe sono i figli della giovinezza.
5 Blessed are they whose quivers are full. They will never be shamed contending with foes at the gate.	5 Beato l'uomo che ne ha piena la faretra: non resterà confuso quando verrà a trattare alla porta con i propri nemici.
