1 David sang the words of this song to the LORD when the LORD had rescued him from the grasp of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.	1 Davi dirigiu ao Senhor as palavras do cântico que segue, no dia em que o Senhor o livrou da mão de todos os seus inimigos e da mão de Saul.
2 This is what he sang: I "O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer,	2 O Senhor é o meu rochedo, minha fortaleza e meu libertador,
3 my God, my rock of refuge! My shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold, my refuge, my savior, from violence you keep me safe.	3 meu Deus é a minha rocha onde encontro o meu refúgio, meu escudo e força de minha salvação, minha cidadela e meu refúgio. Meu salvador, que me salvais da violência.
4 'Praised be the LORD,' I exclaim, and I am safe from my enemies.	4 Invoco o Senhor digno de todo louvor, e fico livre dos meus inimigos.
5 "The breakers of death surged round about me, the floods of perdition overwhelmed me;	5 Circundavam-me os vagalhões da morte, torrentes devastadoras me atemorizavam,
6 The cords of the nether world enmeshed me, the snares of death overtook me.	6 enlaçavam-se as cadeias da habitação dos mortos, a própria morte me prendia em suas redes.
7 In my distress I called upon the LORD and cried out to my God; From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry reached his ears.	7 Na minha angústia, invoquei ao Senhor, gritei para meu Deus: do seu templo ele ouviu a minha voz, e o meu clamor chegou aos seus ouvidos.
8 "The earth swayed and quaked; the foundations of the heavens trembled and shook when his wrath flared up.	8 A terra vacilou e tremeu, os fundamentos dos céus fremiram, abalaram-se, porque Deus se abrasou em cólera:
9 Smoke rose from his nostrils, and a devouring fire from his mouth; he kindled coals into flame.	9 suas narinas exalavam fumaça, sua boca, fogo devorador, brasas incandescentes.
10 He inclined the heavens and came down, with dark clouds under his feet.	10 Ele inclinou os céus e desceu, calcando aos pés escuras nuvens,
11 He mounted a cherub and flew, borne on the wings of the wind.	11 cavalgou sobre um querubim e voou, planando nas asas do vento.
12 He made darkness the shelter about him, with spattering rain and thickening clouds.	12 Envolveu-se nas trevas como numa tenda, nas águas tenebrosas, densas nuvens.
13 From the brightness of his presence coals were kindled to flame.	13 Do esplendor de sua presença flamejaram centelhas de fogo,
14 "The LORD thundered from heaven; the Most High gave forth his voice.	14 dos céus trovejou o Senhor, o Altíssimo fez ressoar a sua. voz,
15 He sent forth arrows to put them to flight; he flashed lightning and routed them.	15 lançou setas e dispersou os inimigos, fulminou relâmpagos e os desbaratou.
16 Then the wellsprings of the sea appeared, the foundations of the earth were laid bare, At the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the wind of his wrath.	16 E apareceu descoberto o leito do mar, os fundamentos da terra, ante a voz ameaçadora do Senhor, ante o furacão de sua cólera.
17 "He reached out from on high and grasped me; he drew me out of the deep waters.	17 Do alto estendeu a sua mão e me pegou, e retirou-me das águas profundas,
18 He rescued me from my mighty enemy, from my foes, who were too powerful for me.	18 livrou-me de inimigo poderoso, dos meus adversários, mais fortes do que eu.
19 They attacked me on my day of calamity, but the LORD came to my support.	19 Investiram contra mim no dia do meu infortúnio, mas o Senhor foi o meu arrimo,
20 He set me free in the open, and rescued me, because he loves me.	20 pôs-me a salvo e livrou-me, porque me ama.
21 "The LORD rewarded me according to my justice; according to the cleanness of my hands he requited me.	21 O Senhor me tratou segundo a minha inocência, retribuiu-me segundo a pureza de minhas mãos,
22 For I kept the ways of the LORD and was not disloyal to my God.	22 porque guardei os caminhos do Senhor e não pequei separando-me do meu Deus;
23 For his ordinances were all present to me, and his statutes I put not from me;	23 Tenho diante dos olhos todos os seus preceitos e não me desvio de suas leis.
24 But I was wholehearted toward him, and I was on my guard against guilt.	24 Ando irrepreensivelmente diante dele, guardando-me do meu pecado.
25 And the LORD requited me according to my justice, according to my innocence in his sight.	25 O Senhor retribuiu-me segundo a minha justiça, segundo a minha pureza diante dos seus olhos.
26 "Toward the faithful you are faithful; toward the wholehearted you are wholehearted;	26 Com quem é bondoso vos mostrais bondoso, com homem íntegro vos mostrais íntegro,
27 Toward the sincere you are sincere; but toward the crooked you are astute.	27 puro, com quem é puro; prudente, com quem é astuto.
28 You save lowly people, though on the lofty your eyes look down.	28 Aos humildes salvais; os semblantes soberbos humilhais.
29 You are my lamp, O LORD! O my God, you brighten the darkness about me.	29 Senhor, sois meu farol; é o Senhor quem dissipa as minhas trevas.
30 For with your aid I run against an armed band, and by the help of my God I leap over a wall.	30 Convosco afrontarei batalhões; com meu Deus escalarei muralhas.
31 God's way is unerring; the promise of the LORD is fire-tried; he is a shield to all who take refuge in him."	31 Os caminhos de Deus são perfeitos; a palavra do Senhor é pura. Ele é o escudo de todos os que nele se refugiam.
32 "For who is God except the LORD? Who is a rock save our God?	32 Pois, quem é Deus senão o Senhor? Quem é o rochedo, senão o nosso Deus?
33 The God who girded me with strength and kept my way unerring;	33 É Deus quem me cinge de coragem e aplana o meu caminho.
34 Who made my feet swift as those of hinds and set me on the heights;	34 Torna os meus pés velozes como os das gazelas e me instala nas alturas.
35 Who trained my hands for war till my arms could bend a bow of brass.	35 Adestra minhas mãos para o combate e meus braços para o tiro de arco.
36 "You have given me your saving shield, and your help has made me great.	36 Vós me dais o escudo que me salva, e vossa bondade me engrandece.
37 You made room for my steps; unwavering was my stride.	37 Alargais o caminho a meus passos para meus pés não resvalarem.
38 I pursued my enemies and destroyed them, nor did I turn again till I made an end of them.	38 Dou caça aos inimigos e os extermino. E não volto sem que os tenha aniquilado.
39 I smote them and they did not rise; they fell beneath my feet.	39 De tal sorte os aniquilo e despedaço, que não mais se levantam: eles ficam caídos a meus pés.
40 "You girded me with strength for war; you subdued my adversaries beneath me.	40 Vós me cingis de coragem para a luta e ante mim dobrais os meus adversários.
41 My enemies you put to flight before me and those who hated me I destroyed.	41 Afugentais da minha presença os meus inimigos. E reduzo ao silêncio os que me aborrecem.
42 They cried for help-but no one saved them; to the LORD--but he answered them not.	42 Gritam por socorro, mas não há quem os salve, clamam ao Senhor, mas não responde...
43 I ground them fine as the dust of the earth; like the mud in the streets I trampled them down.	43 Eu os trituro como ao pó da terra. E os esmago aos pés como ao barro das estradas.
44 "You rescued me from the strife of my people; you made me head over nations. A people I had not known became my slaves;	44 Vós me livrais das revoltas do meu povo e me guardais à frente das nações. Povos que eu desconhecia se tornaram meus servos.
45 as soon as they heard me, they obeyed.	45 Gente estranha me serve abnegadamente e obedecem-me à primeira intimação.
46 The foreigners fawned and cringed before me; they staggered forth from their fortresses."	46 Gente estranha desfalece e sai tremendo de seus esconderijos.
47 "The LORD live! And blessed be my Rock! Extolled be my God, rock of my salvation.	47 Viva o Senhor e bendito seja o meu rochedo! Exaltado seja Deus, rocha que me salva!
48 O God, who granted me vengeance, who made peoples subject to me	48 Deus, que me proporciona a vingança e avassala nações a meus pés.
49 and helped me escape from my enemies, Above my adversaries you exalt me and from the violent man you rescue me.	49 Sois vós quem me libertais dos meus inimigos, e me exaltais acima dos meus adversários, e me salvais do homem violento.
50 Therefore will I proclaim you, O LORD, among the nations, and I will sing praise to your name,	50 Por isso vos louvarei, ó Senhor, entre as nações e celebrarei o vosso nome.
51 You who gave great victories to your king and showed kindness to your anointed, to David and his posterity forever."	51 Ele prepara grandes vitórias a seu rei e faz misericórdia a seu ungido. A Davi e a sua descendência para sempre.
